Im leaving for the airport in about an hour.
-
Had to run with the wife to do some stuff. Anyway. After 6 hours of both myself and my wife asking them for some pain drugs It took the doctors chewing out the nurses for not giving me ANY meds. I got loaded up and felt great. Next day im doing better but still having waves of pain. like a baseball at 90 miles an hours are hitting me in the chest. at the motel Dr Diaz shows up that night and sees me have a attack and hands me some more pain pills AND meds for my spasams. Started taking them and the next day walked two different malls and felt so much better. The flight home wasnt bad. we flew first class for the bigger seats and not having to stand in the long lines. Today i havent had a pain pill yet but will take one of the lower dosage pills in about an hour. (maybe too much walking today.) One word of advice to those going to Mexico. IF you dont know any spanish words, learn a few of the basics and immportant words. Like bathroom, pain, Water, PLEASE and "No habla espanol"

I actually got in (home) last night. I did suffer from some spasams the first day and a half but a little medicen cleared that right up. I got chewed out by Dr. rumbaut (not bad) for doing "TOO MUCH" walking the first day of surgery. I hurt and thought it was gas. the nurses kept telling me to WALK so i did. (felt like i was going to die but i did it. then Rumbaut showed up with Dr. Diaz and ordered the nurses to give me the pain meds i had been asking for 6 hours. more later , gotta run

Just be carefull with fox's doctors/son. Earl was one of the ones that screwed up with my wife. When you go in for your next fill. Have him do a "pressure" check. thats when after they add too your band they pull all Fluid out to see what the total is, they then let the suction of the band pull the fluid out of the needle back into your band. if the total is wrong or it doesnt pull back in, it could mean a problem. (leak or break) Just be carefull, I have ZERO trust in that place.

Ok, the dancing banana's are a little disturbing. I'll let ya know when I get back.

Honestly, Not really. Its just one of those things in life I need to do. Ya do it, ya deal with it and ya move on. I was more excited for my wife when she had it done.

The Last Supper (and breakfast, and lunch)
one gone dog replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
American doctors are going to be very carefull about how they go about the lap band surgery. They make a good deal of money from it and alot of them can truely see the benifit of it. The FDA has a close eye on this and can pull the plug on it at anytime if the see to many things go wrong (death). However, I Got my info from Dr. Rumbaut's office. Who is considerd one of the "instructors". Hes traind a good deal of the american doctors on the lap band. Matter of fact hes getting a new trainee next month. -
The Last Supper (and breakfast, and lunch)

Ok, I did some research and found out why some people are told to do it and others are not. If your BMI is 55 or higher, Yes, you are told to try for a liquid diet for at least 10 days. It decreases the intra abdominal fat and shrinks the liver size. It makes it easier for the doctors to do If your BMI is under 55 its not as much of a concern. My BMI is 40.1 . They do want you to have an emty stomach for surgery so they ask that your "last" meal be a lite one. and eating like crazy before your surgery (the last few weeks) is not a good idea. The quick increase can build up fat in side your abdomen. It increases your chances of the doctor having to do and "open" procedure. (3-4 incision) wich means another day or two in the hospitol. And there are those doctors that have ALL thier patients fast for ten or more days. -
The Last Supper (and breakfast, and lunch)

My only "real" instruction is not to eat or drink anything for the 12 hours prior to going under the knife. so I just dont eat or drink after 6 pm the night before. Not to say it doesnt have a reason, but I havent heard of having to go on this week long thing you were told to do. :phanvan -
Ok, it was in san fransico. The name Dr. Peterson came up in the report but it did not say what his actual roll was in it. It was Dr Yuri that Dr Rumbaut worked with to re insert a band. So, try finding on in san fran sisco,, Cheaper to drive then to fly.
-
I just looked up and saw your from san diego. I believe there is a doctor there that does the banding. Dr. rumBaut from Monterray mexico worked with him on a patient that had something go wrong. I'll try to find his name for you.
-
I dont know where your from but more and more doctors and doing the banding. Fills cost anywhere from 100$ to 350$ depending on the type of fill. Doctors office vs. a radiology visit.

My last supper will be in mexico. the night before I get banded. I dont think I'll gorge myself tho. (I hate being so FULL it hurts) -
I'm seeing Dr. Rumbaut on the 4th.

I'm gonna blame the dog.

I always understood thinning hair (post banding) was a sign of not enough protien in-take. But thanks for the heads up on the shampoo, Lord knows my hair could use all the help it can get. In the words of my favorite T-shirt. I'm too sexy for my hair,, Thats why it is'nt there.

The gas is different for many people. I'll call them the "3 amigos". these three had thier bands done on the same day as my wife. All three of these guys are pastors at churches in thier hometown in texas. You always knew when one of them would PASS GAS. Out of the blue one would say Praise God ! with a look of relief. and the others would agree.
