12 days after banding help?
one gone dog replied to Janie Jackson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw my family do yesterday and he wanted to keep feeling it. it was rather funny. (he hasnt dealt with the band very much, my wife and I are his only two patients with it) YES< it is normal. -
good luck and enjoy the coast.

How much PAIN are you in ? If your having alot of pain,(im not talking about gas pain or just a some tenderness) i would find a doctor that deals with the band and go see them right away. In congunction with the fever and loose stool there are some things i would be concered about. Did your doc give you antibiotics to take post surgery? Runny cream of wheat can help with the loose stool. (it did for me) RED CLOVER tea (loose leaf, not bagged) can help boost your immune system to help your body recover. Your on the right track by going to the doc right away.

band and dating = "a cheap date" Cant eat much and only takes a little bit to get drunk. "I'm glad i've been married 16 years and dont have to mess with the dating scene" good luck to you.

Actually your husbands idea isnt a bad one. A womans kotex "pad" is one of the best things to keep in a first aid kit. They absorb alot and help to form a scab to "seal" the wound.

DONT DO THE GUMMY BEARS YET ! Do yourself a big favor and wait a couple of months.... THEY HURT!

As much as my doctor wants me to stop smoking He admited it was a good excuse to go for a walk after surgery. He aslo said that quiting after i was healed was the best time but not to try while i was recovering. The body needs its streangth and energy to try to heal itself. when you try to quit you just add stress to the situation. He did say i should try to cut down during the recovery and to quit ASAP!

6 Days to go!!! Need Support!!!!!!!
one gone dog replied to athykay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Would you have doubts if you were having gall bladder surgery ? Or your appendix removed? Heres how i looked at it. I knew what my weight is now and what it will be in a few years (based on im built like my uncles and following them amlost to the pound.) I know that diabietes and other things like that run in my family. and this surgery can help prevent or slow down these things. therefore it was a mandatory surgery and just like anyother kind it had to be done. When I started to look at it like that, I wasnt anywhere neer as skiddish about it. i was still concerned because i was going under the knife (as we all should be) but it helped when i saw it as a way to help save my life and making it a little longer. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!! -
Thank you. I will try the milicon stuff. That gas pain can really suck when your on a long drive. As far as what im eating/// drinking. Soup, juice,Water, coffee, cream of wheat and yogurt. Tacoma Radiology. Its 350 dollars a fill but it is ALWAYS a good fill. The very first one they never put more then 2cc in. after that they watch for the Fluid to pour through.

Fox's office is bad news. We had Dr. Rumbaut in monterrey put in our bands. My wife was going to fox's for fill but they messed that up. I've heard some good things about Dr. Lopez. And if you can cut way down on the caffine before it can help prevent the headache's. Just keep in mind (you probly already know this) that alot of other things have caffine. most soda's, chocolate, enegry drinks, ect, ect. its the combination of all these things that give you your caffine fix. so you need to watch ALL these things to help cut down your caffine intake. If you can prevent the caffine headache, GREAT ! My head was pounding so bad I thought something had gone wrong. Good luck to you and have a good safe trip in Mexico.

oh, and I see your in washington. VERY COOL ! Your not going through Dr. Ross Fox are you ?
-
Diet coke = gas any drink with carbonation can give you gas and cramps untill next week. the choice is yours but its not recomended. 3 days after my band was put in i got one heck of a headache and when i asked my doc about it, he asked if i drink coffee ? yep ! He told me to go get a cup. headache was gone with in 30 minutes. But!!!! coffee isnt good for your band when its first put in. the caffine can (not always) but can cause errosion. so if you have to have it my doc said to use more cream in it then normal to help tone down the acididty. and never go more then half cup a day. (at least for the first month.)

Dateline NBC: Weigh to Go, Mom!
one gone dog replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah but you got doctors like ROSS FOX in Tacoma Wa. who make statements like this to people who are asking about the band. "if it was me that had to loose the wieght, since I'm having surgery anyway i'd just go all the way" (reffering to the bypass over banding) and when you got someone whos looking to the doctor for sound advice because they're at the end of thier emotional hay ride (and the doctor knows this) they're going to jump on it. and when you consider how much more money the doctor is going to get for the bypass it doesnt surprise me that bypass is pushed harder. If bypass had been my only option I wouldnt have even considered it. Not to say its always a bad thing but it aint for me. -
I'm back and banded. so now i'll say thank you very much.   :D

I got back about 1:30 saturday morning after short stop in vegas  the only problem I had was some spasms. Some drugs cleared that up and i feel pretty darn good. When i left mt waist size was 40 - 42. Today i (just for kicks) tried to put on a pair of pants sized 38. THEY FIT ! I still have some diaphram pain from the stiches but its not to bad, its kinda like i either ate to much or need to eat. so now since both the wife and I have this chunck of plastic in us we both need to rethink cooking for two. Like i said in another thread, our dogs are going to need a band before long. where going to loose the wieght and they'll find it. Dr. Rumbaut says hi to all the bandsters here. updates still to come. The BIG DOG.

Thanks. My Target size is 32-34. I was as big as 44-46. hieght is 5'10". My goal weight is 190-210. Right now its at 275 (lowest its been in 10 years). give or take 10lbs i've been hanging around the 300lbs mark. my Dad has 13 brothers and 3 sisters. I could pass for a brother to 7 of the boys just by when---- our hair line went up, our belt size grew , our hands started to hurt in the mornings and our ankles and knees began to give us grief. In a few years i have another 80lbs to look foward to comming around my waist. ALL of my Moms family is huge. the smallest one in her family is around 400lbs. So I have a lot of "genetics" going against me. But one of MY biggest problems is the size of meals i can eat. I'm the guy at the buffet bar that they dont want to see. (I've molested many buffet bars). 20 years ago I was a pro-bodybuilder. I know nutrition and I know how to exersize. And niether one of those two facts could stop my wieght gain. so now when i get start to hit the gym again in stead of a protien shake + Breakfast + a protien bar and then a snack, i'll be pleanty full with my drink. My goal isnt to have the body i did then (be nice) but the past is the past. I want to try to head of the diabeties and other things that run in my family, I Just want half the energy i did and the ability to run down into my field or fly upstairs in my house without getting so short winded my wife thinks i need medical attention, or feel like my chest is going to explode. when and if we have kids to be able to run and play with them and I want the extra years I'll gain by loosing the wieght to spend with my wife. so there it is. No this wasnt a rant against your question alex  . I just figured I'd lay it out there.

I suffered massive spasms the first day and a half when the band was put in but the doc gave me some pills that took care of it. havent had it happen since. (BUT ! its only been in 5 days.)
