How to apply for my lap band ID card?
Sharpie replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have eaten out at every kind of restraunt from REd Lobster to Red Robin.. never had to worry about it.. just said I wanted a smaller portion, child's portion or Senior... of course I am a senior but they never ask for I.D... I have a card but never had to show it.. any restraunt that would charge you for sitting at the table is terrible.. I'd make sure I talked to the Manager or even go higher up to Corporate... -
my husband married me @ 93 lbs... but we are both older now , been married 37 years my weight has been up and down all that time.. however I got to almost 200 lbs.. before I decided I'd had enough.. at 5' on a good day 200 lbs is big.. His concern was always my health .. he is very happy and relieved that I am feeling better and my health has improved greatly.. as far as being treated differently not so much difference.. people have commented on how good I look . I think this experience has given me more empathy and compassion for morbidly obese and obesde people.. it's not something anyone wants to be and everytime I see someone in Walmart or somewhere who cannot walk and are riding in a scooter or something I feel so lucky that I have finally gotten my weight under control. I pray every day that I will continue to have it under control but it's work...

I sure hope you are right, I am going to Loveland, Colorado and some of the rides we will take us about 7500 ft. but I don't want to gain weight while I am gone.. so it's okay with me if I have some restriction.. as long as I can eat something...
-
I told my Dr. I was going to Colorado on vacation he said I would be fine.. I don't have but 2 cc in my band so hopefully I won't have any problems.. going to a dude ranch and want to be able to eat semi normal...
-
I agree... myfitnesspal will keep you aware of what you are eating.. 1/2 of a sandwich could be more calories and less protein than you need... concentrating on protein is the key to losing...

Im Starving: Yea I can Eat...Oops I ate to Much
Sharpie commented on tigers1998's blog entry in The Funny Side
3 days after surgery?? I didn't eat anything solid for weeks.. you need to go back and re-read your post op instructions.. you are still healing and I think eating mac n cheese and cabbage will hinder that....don't hurt yourself... -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Sharpie replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
good information. Wendell great job of explaining it.. so many people think more fills, lose faster.. it doesn't work that way.. My Dr. is conservative.. I have a 10 cc band and his first fill was 1.8 , 2nd fill was only .2 I am doing well so far on that... last visit I had lost 45 lbs total since 1/15/13 surgery..I am losing 1 -1.5 lbs per week... -
disgusted with myself... I over-ate today
Sharpie replied to Faith-ster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Catfish is so right... don't stress about it.. Just get back to it.. we have all had weak moments and that is why we have had weight issues.. just remember you now have a tool to help you through it. read posts on here and feel free to ask questions.. We are here and have had the same problems... -
pure protein shake drinks... yuck?
Sharpie replied to renewed_mind's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like muscle milk , lean shakes from GNC and pure protein.. I don't do a lot of them unless I get a fill.. but sometimes if I'm in a rush I will drink one for breakfast.... -
you are hysterical... please keep posting.. it makes this journey better to handle...

50lb gone! I feel amazing
Sharpie replied to anesheim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you look so happy... I know I am almost to the 50 lb mark and I am thrilled... I only have 2.5 cc in my band but I am steadily losing 1 - 2 lbs a week... I am hoping to get to my goal before the end of the year. My Dr. says it will slow as I get smaller... keep up the good work.. -
good job... I was banded in January and I have lost 45 lbs so you are ahead of me... concentrate on your positves.. like boxing up clothes that are too big....be good to yourself...

First social outing since being banded
Sharpie replied to readysetg070113's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job ... my first outing after surgery was a birthday dinner in a steak house.. at that point I could only eat some mashed potatoes and applesauce.. everybody knew about my surgery and I wasn't embarrassed at all... -
my Dr. said shower if you don't let the water hit your incisions.. leave those steri strips alone... and just let them fall off.. mine actually didn't fall off but when I went back for my post op check the P.A. took them off...
-
Great job... I know you must be so pleased with yourself... you are on the down side now.. keep on going..
-
I take B12, Vitamin D and a multivitamin... you are still in the healing stage so rest and drink...
-
100 lbs in that amt of time is really something... I didn't realize that would be possible... My Dr. says 1-2 lbs a week is normal... was that 100 lbs from the date of surgery or includes your pre-op diet? I am just floored when I see those kind of numbers...makes me think I am doing something wrong..
-
getting comfortable post op is a temporary problem.. in a few days you will be able to return to your normal sleeping mode.. I had a recliner and a pillow for my stomach... it didn't take too long before I was okay on my side...
-
I think they have chicken tortilla soup.. which is high protein, low cal...they also have some good lower calorie meals.. marked on the menu...
-
concentrate on healing.. like tmf says it's not sweat right now not getting protein in... you will be able to get protein drinks in soon.. you can always add protein to your water if necessary... rest, drink and don't over do...

First time eating out since banding...
Sharpie replied to deleteme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have eaten at Red Robin a few times. They have some good options to burgers on their menu.. their chicken tortilla soup is great.. they also have wraps ... I think you did great... eating out isn't as difficult as I thought it would be, just making good choices and portion control are the key... -
I had a Upper GI before surgery... not sure if that would have shown your issue though... I hope you are able to go through with your surgery as planned.. perhaps a specialist would help. Don't give up....
