HELP: how to make Nectar protein tasty?
Lorrie Knox Malone replied to Zannie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm with you Zanny, I do enjoy my morning berry flavoried American whey w/frozen berries and 1/4 cup of Fage Yogurt, but would love to switch up from time to time. Have something cool and clean tasting. I've done some research on line and came across the web site for Isopure bottles, I have'nt tried any so can't say if they are good or not. Sounds great the way they descripe them on the site:confused: but then they want to make a sale. The ingredients are listed as Supplement facts - Apple Melon: Serving size 20 ounces Calories 160, fat 0, carbs 0, sugar 0, Protein 40 grams Other Ingredients: Filtered Water, Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolate, Sucralose, FD&C Red #40, Malic Acid, FD&C Blue #1, Polysorbate 80, Natural and Artificial Flavors No Preservatives, No Carbs, Lactose Free, Fat Free, Aspartame Free So did a little research on Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate and found this site Whey Protein powder - CFM, Ion Exchange Whey Protein Information Very Very Very interesting reading. Think I'll just stick to my powder.:incazzato: -
Well, this is day 7 of my 7 day pre-op liquid stage. Tomorrow is surgery:lol:I made it through without even one little cheat. I am sooo proud of myself. It actually wasn't as bad as I had anticpated. I do believe that once I got into a routine of what to eat and when, I did so much better. After the second day it was really much easier. So tomorrow is my big day. I am not nervious, yet. Very excited though. I'm just spending my day today preparing for tomorrow. Making sure I have everything in the house I may need for the next 4 days. I just plan on watching movies, sleeping and taking several small walks. I'm going to put myself first for once and take care of me. Good luck all, I'll write again w/all the updates.

Rangerfan, I totally agree, why do some of us have to suffer while others can slide on by. I wonder if it really makes a difference??? you said you only have 50lbs to loose. Have you already been banded? thought you had to be at least 100 lbs over weight to be banded? Well the best of luck

Hi All, I start my pre-op diet Tuesday 5/20. I can have Sugar free popsicles, jell-o skim milk, 100% fruit juices, crystal light, strained chicken or beef broth, strained lowfat cream soup, tomato soup. 2-3 protein shakes per day (2 scoops in 12 oz of water). So this weekend I went shopping, figured I wouldn't be able to handle Campbells soups for 7 days. So I found a few low fat high protein, high fiber, soups to make and an immersable blender to cream the soups to perfection. Plus a lot less sodium then the canned stuff. So actually I'm very excieted about starting and actually looking forward to the challenge. Just hope I feel that way come day 2,3,4,5 ect:wub:. Time will tell. Sugery is May 27th. Can't wait.:woot:

Hi all, I get banded may 27th, can't wait. So I can only hope that we feel full after a few oz, guess time will tell. I do know it's only a tool and you have to work with it, but hey, any improvement from what has been being achived will be a plus. My surgen charges a 2,500.00 fee that he does not submit claim to the insurance for, however, this covers all your support group classes for life, all you nutrition clasess for life, one year gym membership at the center which has a state of the art gym. And best of all free unlimited fills for the life of your band, which I understand is forever. So when you think of it, that's not a lot of money for what I'm getting. Good luck all.

Anyone have the Realize band?
Lorrie Knox Malone replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery date is May 27 and I'll be getting the Realize Band. I just had my pre-op appointment yesterday, and was given the Realize Band online package and my surgens id # for the web site. I looked at it this moring for a little bit. You only have access to part of it untill your surgery day and in your post op package you'll be given another id # to access the entire site. I've used Sparkpeople.com web site for about a year now and loved it. The realize band web site has a lot of simalar features. I think once I've spent some time on the site and play around with it, it'll be very helpful. Plus your surgen has access to some of your postings to be monitored which makes it really nice. You'll want to be on you best behavoir and keep it up to date. Have you tried it yet? As for the fill at surgery time, I was told that he will put 4ccs in or maybe it was .4ccs, but the will put some in, and no more fill untill 4 to 6weeks. -
1c food 3x a day, I'm confused???
Lorrie Knox Malone replied to katie78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Laura, I printed out your soup recipe, I will definatly give it a try, sounds yummmy. I would love to see your pre-op tips. My pre-op appointment went very well, 7days liquid, sugarfree popsicles, italian ice, jell-o, skim milk, 100% fruit juice, vegetable juice, crystal light, strained chicken or beef broth, strained low fat cream soup, tomato soup, each day required to drink, 2 to 3 Protein shakes consisting of 2 scoops of Protein powder in 12 ozs of Water. Doesn't seem impossible. I am hoping that w/some creativity I'll do fine. Just wondering why not use the skim milk to mix w/ the protein powder and why only 12 oz of water w/each shake, when not 16 or 20 oz:confused: Had my blood drawn this morning and the ekg. So I am all set, just waiting till may 20 to start the liquids. Have a great weekend all. -
Slime/PB question (kinda gross)

Hi All, I won't be banded till the end of May, however, it seems like a lot of people have prolems w/eggs, what about the egg subitutes or just plain egg whites, do you all have the same effects? Just courious, I will truely miss my Sunday morning egg and cheese omelts if I can't adjust the recipe to be band friendly, I was hoping the egg sub, would be easier but haven't really seen anyone mention them. Have a great weekend all. -

Laura, MD, Thank you sooo much for putting things into some logical prospective. I actually just printed out you post so I can leave it laying around to read and reread till I know it by heart. THanks you so much for the great direction. I get banded May 27, very excited, scared, emotional all of it. I am very nervous about the pre op diet week. I go to my pre op appt tomorrow afternoon and will find out all the details for that. From what others have said our surgen requires 7day liquids, some say its more like yogarts, soups and the such, I'll see. Anyway, your post really made soooo much sense. thank you. -

Hypothyroid
Lorrie Knox Malone replied to Lorrie Knox Malone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, thanks so much for the great replies. You all have really eased my mind as far as being able to loose the weight w/the band. The weight just does not come off now. I eat healthy, exercise, and take my meds but down 3lbs up 2 over and over again. I get banded May 20th. Seems like years away. Just counting the months, weeks, days and hours till then.
