SnapIGotThis replied to SnapIGotThis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so very much. I will schedule an appt with the nutritionist as soon as I am able. We are currently without insurance. The bacon was regular bacon & I will get lower cal nuts next grocery trip. Thanks so much for your advice ladies. -

I had my surgery back in March, the 6th to be exact. It has sure been a crazy time for me since. I had Major hernia repair at the same time. Days after surgery I developed pneumonia and acute kidney failure. The pneumonia just kept coming back again & again. I had 1 fill during that time. They kept running test after test on me & at one point even thought I had lung cancer. Come to find out I had histoplasmosis. I have finally gotten that under control & have been able to stay out of the hospital. Was given permission by my Dr to get another fill, that was about 6 weeks ago. I had 3cc's added & am now at 7cc's in a 14cc band. My weight has been at a stand still. ugh. Have been having a hard time getting to the gym & so I borrowed my mom's treadmill. eating less, much less, was just doing nothing for me at all. I track all my food & have been under in calories. The Dr's office says you should be losing 1-2 lbs a week. Today I had a muscle milk for breakfast 2 strips of bacon & 2 eggs for lunch cashews for snack dinner will be fish & broccoli muscle milk for late snack I try to walk about 1 hr a day on the treadmill at a quick pace Any suggestions?

Just checking back in. I was out of commission so long with my complications & did not really want to discuss them here out of respect for those who are yet to be banded. Still not much hunger & doing great!

I became dehydrated and was in acute kidney failure within 2 days of surgery. Please be careful.

So I. Have been readmitted. Iam dehydrated and have pneumonia.

Had my surgery last Wed. No loner needing any pain meds. I feel great as far as that goes. My biggest issue is I am having such a hard time urinating. Also, my sugar is super low.

Yes, the Dr fixed the hernia & then banded me

Had my surgery yesterday. My flipped stomach turned out to be a really really bad hernia. It's now fixed. I had to stay the night so I could be on morphine per Dr.
-
It's strange the bottom of my stomach is flipped & is at the top. Hopefully he will be able to put it back in place & tack it with a stitch then band me. The GI Dr said it is flipped upside down & it is also a complex hernia. The surgeon said he has never see one before & if he cannot get it back in place he cannot band me. Said I will have to go to a thoracic surgeon & have it fixed before banding. I know there is a long term solution but just hoping it is an easy fix & only 1 surgery. Thanks all.

Surgeon just called to discuss my flipped stomach with me. He let me know that there is a chance that he may run into problems with me during surgery & not be able to band me. Please keep me in your thoughts that all goes well tomorrow a.m. Thanks.

March 2013 Surgery Dates?

o.k. Rina, you totally cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh. Sounds like something I would do. Getting close to being finished with this pre-op & I must say it is so much easier now. Hope it stays this way. -
I am allowed cream soups but they must be 98% fat free. I have also been having pickles. Pre-op testing for me was blood work & ekg. It was easy.
