Wish me luck all. On my way to my doctors office for my second fill. Hopefully this will kick start my weight loss again and get me over my 3+ week plateau. I already have 6 cc in my band so I am hoping a little will do.
-
Thanks all. Had 6 cc put in my band the end of January. When my dr. pulled out the fluid today he only got 5 cc. Said it was normal to be down some I guess. He filled it back up to 6 cc and put in another 0.5 cc. Hopefully the weight will start to come off once again. Tired of seeing the same numbers on the scale day after day.

Yeah good for you. Keep up the good work.

Try eating the pre-shredded lettuce they sell in the stores. I have a hard time with the lettuce I break up but can to the pre-shred stuff. Good luck

Heck I can gain anywhere from 3-6 pounds when I ovulate and then it goes back down. Like Missy said, unless you are eating A LOT this could explain it.
-
I have no problems with tortillas. Flour tends to be better than corn though.

I think you can pretty much eat out anywhere you want, just be mindful of your portions and food groups. Shortly after having my surgery I went to Olive Garden. I would have gone overboard before my Lapband. This time I got the baked chicken parm (protein/starch). Cut my meal into thirds, enjoyed 1/3, a small salad (veggie), and a small bite or two of a breadstick (starch) and that was all I needed. I had some good leftover lunches for a couple days too. Don't hold back from any restaurants. Just stick with baked and not deep fried, low fat vs. fat (dressings), and make sure you eat slowly. Happy birthday and enjoy.

Almost 3 months post op
JenWis6 replied to cole&matt'smom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look great. Keep up the good work. I have had my husband hide the scale on me as I have entered week #3 of my first plateau and I was obsessed with the scale. He told me it was gone for a week so I didn't get frustrated and turn to food. Keep focused on your NSV and you will do great. -
I feel like crying:'(

At my psych eval the psychologist told me that there would be people in my life, long-term and short-term, who were going to distance themselves from me. He said some would come back eventually and some wouldn't. He said if the surgery was something I really wanted I was going to have to accept the broken friendships that may come with it. Hopefully she just needs some time to digest your news and when see sees how well you are doing she will come back around. Keep up the good work!! -
Had Lap band surgery in November 2012. I am down 58 pounds with 1 fill (6cc) and have officially hit week #3 of my first plateau. I have an appointment scheduled for another fill on the 23rd but am wondering how long this will last. In the past, when I have hit these plateau's I would quit and turn to food. This time I have picked up my weight lifting routine. Starting to get frustrating...Any advice would be wonderful.

Hi all. I am 4 months postop and am finding my hair to be falling out in fist fulls. I have been taking 1000 mcg of biotin for the last 2 months but have a friend who is taking 5000 mcg (she had gastric bypass). What dose are we supposed to be taking? What is everyone else taking? Should I be taking more each day? I don't have that much hair to be loosing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If I Did Right How Can It Go Wrong?

If you are doing it right you are fine. I just hit my first plateau and am working my way through it. Hoping all that I am doing right will eventually catch back up. Good luck!! -
do you need a tummy tuck?
JenWis6 replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am working out like crazy and lifting weights. My Dr. highly recommended that I wait 2 years before any surgery. I have already informed my husband to have the money budgeted for a tummy tuck in 2015 I don't know if I will be able to tone the tummy up on its own. Looks like cottage cheese right now. I may need some help down the road. Good luck!! -
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have increased my dosage to 3000 mcg a day. I am taking the melt-aways from Walmart. I am still too afraid to take the capsules. I might have to throw some B50 and Zinc into my routine. As I said before, my hair was already starting to thin so this isn't helping any at all. My only hope is that it will start filling in soon.

Local Buy/ Sell / Trade
JenWis6 replied to sandiburn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My area has 3 different sites and I love all of them. I have to limit the amount of time I spend looking through the stuff, but it is so nice to have the outlet to buy stuff I need and sell stuff I don't. -
Calorie Burning Tracker?

Thanks so much for sharing what you use. I have been looking to invest in a HR monitor and now know where to start. -
Have lost 67lbs so far but....saggy
JenWis6 replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I look like I have cottage cheese around my midsection but wouldn't trade the loose stuff for the fat ever. I have invested in a couple of Spanx to help if I need shape under my clothes, otherwise like everyone stated above, clothes do a lot of covering up. Congrats on your weightloss!! -
Substitute for Pizza? Mac and Cheese?
JenWis6 replied to Karina150's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nutritionist has said that pizza is okay. The Papa Murphy's delite pizzas are fantastic. You just don't get half a pizza. 2-3 small squares are all I need. Regarding M&C, Eat in small moderations. I have a spoonful or 2 when I make for my kids. All I need. -
Congrats on your weight loss!! Didn't get my first fill until 2.5 months post op and he won't do another one until 6 months as long as I keep loosing. Keep up the good work!!

I have the same issue with my skin. I think any exercises that tone the muscles will help a bit. I find my triceps and biceps are bad (upper arms) so I have bough some weights and to tricep/bicep curls everyday before going to bed. I am sure Pilattes would work too. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss.

I am 3 months postop and have a lot of excess fat hanging from my upper arms. I have been adding weights (triceps, biceps, press, etc) to my workout routine for the past 2 weeks and am wondering when I might start see some results. I am looking forward to meeting one of my goals of wearing a sundress this summer but will kind of be embarressed with the arm flab. Thanks

Less than 24 hours before my surgery!

Congrats and good luck. Think of 2013 as the year of the new you. This is a great tool for weight loss. -
Try any of the Just Dance games. They give quite a workout. Love doing these with my older kids. Have been wanting to try the Zumba Wii game. Will have to look into it.

they also have melt-away vitamins and supplements that have better flavor than the chewables. I have them in vitamins, Vit D, Biotin, and vit c. All have their own flavor.
