    help. I hit a 1 Month plateau

Been there. Actually mine lasted almost 8 weeks and I just saw the scale start moving once again this past week. I was getting so frustrated. In the past I would have turned to food, this time I just kept on doing what I was doing. Just keep doing what you are doing and your body will catch up. Good luck
  2. I usually go in for my fills around lunch time. He asks me to drink fluids for a couple hours and then back to normal eating, softer items though. Have had 2 fills with no complications. As you said, they are all different. Good luck!!
  3. Had a great NSV this weekend that I just had to share with a group that would understand. Spent the weekend in Green Bay for a football camp with my son. Temps were in the upper 70's/low 80's, sun shining, and a good amount of walking. Before my surgery I would have been sweating like a pig just getting out of the car. The walking would have killed me. This weekend I was able to keep up with my sons team when they were on the move and didn't sweat once, even sitting on the metal bleachers. Such a great feeling. Thanks for letting me share. Jen

    tomorrows the day!!!!

Your feelings are normal. I was so nervous/anxious when I got to the hospital they had to give me something to calm me down. Good luck tomorrow. This is the start to a new you...
  6. Two things pushed me to my breaking point. First was going to an amusement park and not being able to pull the lap bar down over my rolls. The other was a discussion I had with my OBGYN regarding the need for a bladder lift. He told me it wouldn't help because of my weight. I left his office that day and made my appointment with my bariatric doctor. I have not looked back since... (bladder lift is not longer needed either )

How long till i start bugging ins comp?

I would give it a week. If you don't hear anything give your insurance a call and see if they have any questions you can help answer. My paperwork went in on a Tuesday and was approved by Friday. They typically say 1 week. Good luck!!
  12. I posted a couple of weeks ago but here I go with a BIG change up in my diet and exercise. I have been on a plateau for 8 weeks now and am getting SO frustrated. I have not gained but I have not lost weight and have only lost a couple of inches over the past couple of months. My next Dr. appointment is the end of May where I will be getting yet another fill. So far I have 6.5 cc in my band. To change things up yet again I have dropped my calorie intact to 1000 calories a day and am cutting out even more carbs, raised my exercise routine to 5+ days a week (talking the walking out) with weights 3 times a week. If this doesn't do it I give up. I am 40 pounds away from my first goal and need things to get moving again. Thanks for listening to me vent. Hope all you moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. Jen

    Follow up Today

Congratulations!! Keep up the good work!!
  14. There are unflavored protein powders out there, Walgreens sells a couple brands, that I put in my morning oatmeal or yogurt to add extra protein to my food. After 2.5 weeks of the flavored protein shakes I don't know if I can do them again.
  15. I wanted to thank everyone on this site for their wonderful replies to my topics as well as others that come through. Your thoughts, kind words, and help are wonderful for all. My doctors office has monthly support meetings which I have been going to every other month since my surgery in November (1.5 hour drive for me each way). I went down last night for the meeting and left feeling very frustrated. All of the people who were at the meeting had had gastric bypass. Not one person besides myself had lap band. (Has been like this for a couple of months now). I left there feeling a very big disconnect because their problems were not my problems and vice versa. I had no one to bounce ideas, concerns, or issues off on because they just didn't get it. I got home and told my husband that I don't think I am going to go to the support group meetings anymore. I was not able to relate much and I feel I get more support and encouragement from this site. Thank you again for all your support. I don't know what I would do without it.

    How much is the norm?

I was told by my doctor 50%-60% of your needed weight loss. It wasn't as much as gastric bypass and can be slower. I am down 60 pounds and had my surgery the end of November (almost 6 months). I took my first 50 off within 3 months but have been stuck for the past 6 weeks and have found things slowing down. You CAN take off more than 50 pounds I think you are just going to have to work for it with diet and exercise like every other person. The lap band is a weight loss tool but it is up to you how you want to use it. I have seen many people on this site who have taken of 100+ pounds so it is doable. Good luck!!
  17. Congratulations!! That is such an exciting NSV to achieve. Sounds like it was a vacation to remember.
  18. I saw that tonight too and was very proud of him. He is a great guy and deserves the success. He was already looking really good.
  19. I made a deal with my husband that when I lost my first 50 pounds I would get a new tattoo to celebrate. I know I have been told that I should not donate blood after getting my band but are tattoos out too? Wanting to get something special to commemorate this moment that I finally got "me" back. If some have gotten tattoos what have you gotten? Would love some ideas

    Post op appt

Congratulations!! Keep up the good work.

    To tattoo or not?

That is so interesting. When I went in for my 3 month follow-up my "print out" said that they didn't recommend it. I am not a big blood donor, but it is good to know if I needed to do so I could. Thanks. Asherscrashers, I have designed a tattoo with the word "Believe" and Mickey Mouse next to it. I am a BIG Disney fan and have wanted to do something with Mickey. Believe will be my constant reminder to believe in myself and all that I can accomplish.

    At a complete stand still.

I actually had the direct line of the gal who approved the bariatric surgeries for my insurance. The day I knew my dr. sent in all my paperwork I called and told her it was coming and to let me know if she had any questions. It was approved 4 days later. Good luck.

    Fill

You should be fine. My Dr. doesn't have any restrictions after getting a fill. Got one yesterday too and was eating normal food last night. Every Dr. does a fill differently. Some have you on a liquid diet for some time after, some don't. if all went down without any problems you should be fine.

    Gurgling with liquid 2nd fill

I would give it another day at least. I just had my 2nd fill today (now have 6.5 cc) and am not on a restricted diet. I am doing okay but getting the gurgling/deep belching feeling. That tells me it is working. If it isn't better in another 24 hours I would call your doctor and see what he/she says. Asking can't hurt. Good luck.
