Well this makes me feel better that I am not the only one. I have only lost 40 lbs but I thought I would have been up around 60 by now. But I am still pb alot so I dont know if I should get a fill or not. Its hard cause I cant really eat meat so I find myself eating things that I think will go down but not always the best choices. I must say I eat chips to much. But at least were not gaining cause I was on a steady incline pre-surgery days. I eat whatever I want if it goes down. First time in my life im not eating lowfat, that I like. We will get where we need to be remember slow and steady wins the race. I dont really feel deprived so thats a good thing!

HELP!! Just got Fill - Blood...
sheeanisland replied to sheeanisland's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did end up going back to get .3 cc's taken out much better now. Still vomiting now and then but not every meal or every day but a few times a week. Some of that is my fault from not chewing well enough. But the .3 cc helped alot. Does anyone else notice that once the pb they almost cant stop they get sick then they feel better for a couple minutes then it comes back they do it again and so on? Has anyone else noticed that Dr. Rumbauts cell phone dosent work? does anyone else have this problem? -

HELP!! Just got Fill - Blood...
sheeanisland replied to sheeanisland's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I did call the doctors office and actually talk to the nurse that filled me. He said that as long as I can drink clear liquids than I am ok. And I told him that I was just worried that when my two days of liquids and two days of mushys post fill were up I am worried I still wont be able to eat food. He said that I should be fine it will get better. I just worry because I read on here it gets tighter over time. I can drink liquids but not soup other than broth. If the soup has chunks in it it wont go down. We'll see if not I have to go next monday my next day off and just do liquids all week. I cant wait to eat again this liquid seems worse than when I did the month after surgery. I guess its cause I got myself so psyched up for it. I also could eat most soups... guess I have to wait it out and see what happends. Thanks for all your concerns! -
HELP!! Just got Fill - Blood...
sheeanisland replied to sheeanisland's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just got off the phone with a doctor. I felt a message with the answering service and the office and a doctor called me back. I have never seen him before. I did get a lot in my band I had 1.4 cc's and now I have 2.7 cc's. I feel bad because the nurse the fills is "Jasper" is his name was trying to help me out cause I travel 2.5 hrs to get to the office. And in the last 4 weeks I only lost 3 lbs. And I was telling him that I thought I was still eating to much. I could always eat a good amout if I chewed it up well. When ever I PB it was never bacause I was full it was always because I didnt chew my first few bites. So I told this doctor and he said that in his opinion it was way to much of a fill. I feel bad though for the nurse who filled me because I dont want him to get in trouble cause I told him I really wanted to get a "good fill." So the doctor told me that I might need to go all the way back tomorrow to get some out. He said it may get worse than better in the next 24 hours that I will prob' just get more swollen. He said I might have a hard time laying down. And I belive I do I tried it in the car to take a nap when my fience was driving and I wasent really comfortable. But last time I remember getting a fill and I thought it was tight that day then it seemed to get looser even the next day. But I think this is different. So we will have to see what happenes. They didnt do a fluro but they did have me drink some water to see if it went down and it did. But both times I did notice a wierd feeling my throat and I would almost burp with each sip. I get alot of burps after I got both of my fills. So hopefully I will be able to sleep through the night and wont have to drive another 2.5 hrs tomorrow..... -
congrats!! Do you really have a banded card? thats great did your doc give you that?
-
wow I give those of you alot of credit who went alone. That must have been tough. It is very strong and curagious of you. I am so glad to hear your stories I went to Dr. Rumbaut and was banded sept. 8th. And I am doing really great. I just had my first fill and I went to dr. fielding in nyc. The fill was a breeze compared to the surgery. But he didnt do a fluro he just felt for the port found it then in the needle went. I am glad we all have eachother to compare notes. support is so important!

Thanks for sharing with us zoe. I just got a fill and they didnt use a machine like that at all. They just felt around found the port then filled me. It cost me 500 for consult with dr. felding. Dr rumbaut recommened him to me. and 100 for the fill. from now on it will be 100. but the nurse did the fill i was surprised. but i have 1.4 and feel great. love my fill!

before you know it you will feel great!! I had my band six weeks ago and I have never felt better. I had sugerfree pops those are good cause the cold is great for your swelling, or sugerfree fugcicles. You will feel so much better everyday. jello is great too. keep your head high! -
oh good luck!! Isn't Dr. Rumbaut wonderful!!! You are doing the right thing. I was just there where you are. You will do wonderful just keep positive and remember if you are in a bit of pain it goes away so fast. Everyday you feel 110% better. I just said a prayer for you. Scheduled next week w/ Dr. Rumbaut any advice?
sheeanisland replied to Kelly Ann's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I loved my experience with dr. rumbaut and I am sure you will too! they have a gallon of bottled water in the hospital. I dont think the water situation is a really big concern any more. You will be empressed with Monterrey. Good luck I was just there too and many before me. You are taking a step in the right direction. andrea -

eating more now!
sheeanisland replied to sheeanisland's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yea now I havent weighted in a week cause I am afraid I gained. Whats the point the scale hasent moved sence the first week. But my appatite is coming back that is just anoying. People are like how much have you lost now and its the same as it was two weeks ago. But I know in time I am going to loose it. I guess my band is healing well cause there must not be swelling or I would have more restriction. I guess this is part of the course. Ill hang in there -
eating more now!
sheeanisland replied to sheeanisland's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its hard to eat low carbs when you are trying to eat mushies cause refried beans, cottage cheese, oatmeal. All that stuff has carb's. But I am trying but mushies is def' the priority. I have read that other people said they felt hungry after a while but I still wanted to make sure and have support that I was normal. It helps to hear other people tell you its normal. Cause it is a let down even if you have read it before when you start getting hungry and see yourself eating more. -
I am still on the mushy phase for another week and a half. I was wondering what this pate is? I hear it refered to that it goes on crackers. And salmon pate ?? I dont know if I could have crackers though yet. And what do people put hummus on in the mushy phase? -Andrea

I'm Officially a Bandster Now!
sheeanisland replied to edistogirl2602's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats banster!!! -
Eggs are ok if you can eat them in the morning though right? I have no problem eating in the morning but I havent had a fill yet. Is that something you noticed after you got your fill or all along?

I am actually just the opposite. I suffered very badly from GERD aka. acid reflux. I took Nexium, acifex and nothing helped pre band. I had an upper GI done before being banded and my reflux was so bad I was awful. My voice was so raspy from all the acid in my throat all the time. I usto be able to sing years before and I couldnt even do that anymore. So I can totally symphathise with you. But I am happy to report as of the moment after my surgery my reflux is gone! I dont even take med's anymore. My voice is just as it should be .. nice and clear. I am so thrilled with this the weight loss is a bonus! Dr. Rumbaut did tell me also that if you never had it before than you could get it and if you have it pre band it will go away. And it did I am so thankful. I am sorry you have to experience this you do need medicine for it. Tums barely help but I usto wake up in the night and have to take them. You need lots of pillows to elevate yourself. Also You can put a couple patio blocks under the mattress to elevate your head. Anything that helps. I know how you feel. -Andrea
