How is everyone? I had my op friday morning and when the doc when to put my band in there was mesh in the way that Tasmanian surgon uses. He said he had to remove part of my stomach so he could place the band. He said that there would not have been enough stomach to do a sleeve!!! But the worst bit...... A cut unbetween boobs were your bra sits and another underneigh one of my tits!! So tomorrow mum is taking me into town so i can get a comfy bra. It was bad no internet reception! So how is everyone going? I had 2 days of black tea, beef broth and apple juice. So now im out ive got kiddie size low cal o.j of which for a meal i probley drank half and a cup of chicken noodle soup with the noodles out. Our docs gave us an a4 booklet on the first month and basically it says this is the only week we should have fluids as meals for the rest of our banded lives. Cos i guess its true you dont learn healthy eating habits by having shakes. What else... Not much no cute nurses but make sure everyone supports their tummy and does deep breathing and coughing to help prevent and lung infection. Im afraid i dont have big massive hugs tonight. Just small ones!

Hey everyone. Im on nov 30th and i just got told that im now a morning case. So countdown! On optifast im starving all the time!!!!! Its my second band so i know it will work and the melbourne bariatric centre is fantastic compared to a single surgen in hobart!!!!

Before you tell people is this is what you need to do. But do your research and talk to us as we have all been there and all had differant experiances. Im going in fir my second band on friday 30th and my other boss was fishing for what surgery i was having i just said it was a female issue and id prefer not to say

2nd band. I had my first taken out 2 years ago, cos even though i was doing well in the green zone i was throwing up every thing but mushies. When the doc took it out he said he didnt know what the other sergon did to me as it really messy. As you can imagine i put back on 20kg, not sure what that is in pounds. I have up & go vive which is a breakfast replacement with less sugar & calories. And thin chicken noodle broth which i had last time and just strained the noodles. Whats jello? Is that the same thing as jelly

I was just wondering if there was anything new out people liked in addition to my docs suggestions. I have tiny kid size fruit juices just for someyhing diffent occassional which is allowed i just watch the calories. But i also have i think its V8 juice which has vegies and fruit. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, they have been greatly appreciated

Hi. Me to! Im looking forward to it being put back in after 2 years cos i know it works!! Im in Melbourne Australia so with the time difference we will probely having done at the same time. I wish you and our december friends the best of luck and a new found health and happiness, well when the pain goes. Oh and expect left shoulder tip pain from the air they put in during surgery. Heat packs worked the best for me. Big hugs to everyone

Hey there. Im in a similar boat i just turned 32 and i said to myself that i dont want to live as a morbidy obese girl anymore. My bmi is 40. Im new here as well. Lapband is the safest weight loss surgery which in my case it had to be removed after 2 years. With gastric sleeve & bypasd they are perment and if something goes wrong later on it can be fatal. But research all options. And big warm cuddily welcome!!

Hey everyone. In Australia the process is alot easier. Im 32 and single with basic excess of $250 which only costs me $40 a month. Im having a new band put in on friday 30th november at my request. In Melbourne and i think the rest of the country we deal with the surgeons. It has cost me $3400 with includes follow up for life fills nutritionalist. And our insurance pays the rest. Im on 2 weeks of optifast and im starving. Despesite extra vegies and water. I think im gaining weight! I wish you well for your surgery. And remember to walk around when you can afterwards even if its just to the toilet. Let us know how you get on, im starting to get nervious cos i hate pain!!!!

Hey all. I work at bakers delight, an australian bakery and we use chia seeds in bread they are tiny and also i wholemeal fruit buns and loafs. I talked to one girl who had a band and she would have small bites. But chia seeds can be put with anything

We were told not to take laxatives only fibre supplements like metamucil and increase water intake

I used to be a nurse and once they were awake enough we would iffer if they would like to get up and go to the toilet and brush their teeth, plus we had either calf compressors or TEDS which are calf compression stockings like what you can get for long flights. When i had my first band in i wasnt asked to get up. When i had it taken out 2 years later i got offered to go to the toliet but not a walk. On the 30th nov im going in to get a new one and we have already been told to get up and about and we can drink as soon as we feel up to it

We can have tea and coffee. I buy the re-usable and one use wonders for about 10 coffee cups, and instead of stopping for a skinny cafe latte i take a pre made coffee to work with me

It sounds like you might need a fill. We are only supposed to have 3 or less meals of 1/2 a cup of food when were in that good zone. Why not swap it for a healither choice. I plan were i go to eat out. Maybe if you have to have tacos share the plate. Just remember the fat content when you go out cos during the day it all adds up. Maybe home made tacos with spray instead of oil and very low fat cheese.

I live in australia and we deal directly with sergons. In melbourne at the bariatric centre it costs$3400 aussie dollars. That is for the procedure, follow up care for life includining fills and further surgery if ever needed, dietican. Basically everything WE need.

Hey all, my first lapband i saw the fantastic results my boss had. I think more than 50kg and i talked to her and was fantastic for advice. I told most at work but i was in a close knit ICU. I did alot of research before and found the main complication that was rare was infection or slow healing of the wound. But we all know its so not the easy way out!!!! Except we cant do tradition sit ups cos of were the port sits. If we eat too much we end up throwing up and still have to eat right and excerise. But after the inital pay out its cheaper cos of less food especially buy in bulk and cook big amounts then measure them abd freeze. This works really well when your on mushies! I got it taken out 2 years ago but im getting it put back in 30th november cos i miss the feeling of saity cos im sure im not the only one even though i had eaten a big meal i would eat more and go looking for food were as a lapband you dont have those feelings which is the main reson i gained most of the weight back. Im in Australia and have moved states, i talked with my parents and they agreed and could see how unhappy i was now. At work i have told some but the others i have just told them im having 2 weeks off. Just dont listen to the bad comments, in 6 months when your losing weight they will be the ones commenting in your weight loss. Hang in there and we are all here for you!

Hey all, on the 30th november it will be my second band. And i asked the first doc can i have coffee and he said yes!!! I love my coffee, so at cafes have a cafe latte for less milk and fat. Im in melbourne, Australia and tea an coffee and wine and alchoal are allowed!!! So in between meals when your not eating a coffee doesnt count as a meal! Just use low fat milk and low GI sugar, raw low GI sugar is my favourite. I never felt when i had the band coffee did anything but satisfy me. Hope this helps!!!! Real not decaf!!!

Hi everyone!! Im having my 2nd band put in on the 30 nov. Im in Melbourne, Australia. Ive on optifast for 2weeks apparently the main reason they do it is to try & have some weight loss before surgery and to shrink your liver. Anyways i hope everyone is going well!!
