    The waiting game

After all, what is a 6 month wait for a lifetime of health?

    The waiting game

You mean 5/29? If it was 4/29 you missed it! LOL
  3. Hi Donna, You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. You have been through an awful lot and it sounds like you may be just trying to cope emotionally. I would definitely take the advice of others who've encouraged you to go to your doctor. If you're eating as a coping mechanism there is surely someone he can refer you to for some help with that. I remember when I went to my seminar and the doctor mentioned that tackling obesity had to come from all different angles if you truly want to conquer it. That is why many weight loss surgeons have dietitians and psychiatrists in their offices. Once you get yourself the help you need to stop eating as a coping mechanism, you'll be on your way to finding your next Prince Charming and moving out of your mom's house. Just do the things you need to do and you will prevail!

    in need of a buddy

I had my surgery today, and what a piece of cake! I was expecting to be in so much more pain than what I am. I have some very mild discomfort at the sites of my tiny incisions, but the pain is truly nothing like I thought it would be. I'm so glad I did it! When I went in today I weighed in at 14 pounds less---just from my liquid diet.

Chasity, There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. You've got a problem and you're about to fix it. Who gives a whoot what other people say? Remember, haters gonna hate and bandsters gonna lose weight!!!!!!

My surgery was today! Seemed like the day would never get here! Congratulations!

    The waiting game

Always remember . . . It's a marathon and not a sprint. Very good things come to those who wait. I just had my surgery today and my LapBand journey started nearly three years ago. Hang in there, do be patient, and do everything they ask and require of you. The rest will fall into place.
  8. Those are all normal feelings, but in the end you will be just fine. I had my surgery this morning. I'm home already and i'm doing great. The surgery was a piece of cake compared to others I've had. Just BE SURE to do what they tell you. If you do, not only will the fat melt off, but your pain will be managed and you'll wonder why you didn't do this a long time ago!
  9. Interestingly, I have not really been that hungry while on the liquid diet. I really expected it to be brutal. I'm going under the knife tomorrow at 7:30.

    anyone in Northern Minnesota?

I'm from Kansas City and I went to Minnesota in March of 2012. I saw several SUVs out on the ice. I thought to myself, wow, the roads must be very dangerous here when it snows or there is freezing rain. When I got to my meeting I told one of the guys that I witnessed several wrecks along the way. When he asked where and I told him they were all on the Water he started laughing at me and kindly informed me those were likely ice fisherman. He then took me to his office and showed me some big bluegill he caught ice fishing and had mounted. Boy did I feel silly!!!

    Kansas City Anyone?

    If so message me.

    Just starting

The LapBand Journey is a marathon and not a sprint. Be patient, yet persistent, and you too will succeed! I went to my first seminar over two years ago and have attended two since. I will be banded on Monday.
  16. If your insurance covers the procedure and your BMI is over 40 you will likely eventually get approved. You do have to go through all the motions though. My BMI is under 40, but I was approved because of my sleep apnea. Hang in there. If your insurance company has any requirements to get approved just do what they require of you. And remember, be patient. This journey is certainly a marathon and not a sprint!!!

    anyone in Northern Minnesota?

If they are still driving their SUVs out on the ice to go ice fishing they probably are.

3rd Fill and still no restriction :/

If the band is a tool, are you really on your own?

3rd Fill and still no restriction :/

If you're only at 6.5 cc in a 14 cc band, you're not when half way there. Hang in there . . . Your green zone/sweet spot will come. Remember, good things come to those who wait. And very good things come to Bandsters who wait!!!!

    I GOT APPROVED!!!

    That's fantastic! Congratulations!
  22. I would strongly encourage you to ditch the sugary sodas once and for all. I'm on my liquid diet now and ditching the soda hasn't been easy, but I have to do it for health reasons. Putting those zero calorie propel flavor thingys into 16 ounces of Water has truly worked wonders for me. I'm actually amazed at how good they make the water taste considering they are zero calories. Hang in there, remind yourself why you got the band in the first place, and do the things you need to do and you will succeed.

    Bad Stick Band Swollen

My doctor very clearly advises liquids only the first 24 hours after a fill. You may want to ask your doc and consider that going forward if s/he advises you to do so.

What was the first habit you changed?

I dropped the carbonated beverages so fast it would make Dale Earnhardt, Jr. envy.

Who am I if I'm not fat?

Once you start the liquid diet and the fat starts melting off, you won't be able to wait for your surgery so the rest of it can melt off too. And then, once the co-morbidities are gone and you can stop taking all those medicines, you'll wonder why you didn't do this a long time ago. I've been overweight 10+ years. In the last two years, I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and had spine surgery. Diabetes and high blood pressure were probably right around the corner. I realized I had a serious problem and it was time for me to fix it. LapBand to the rescue!
