Pills/Capsules, problems???
LeeB1946 replied to clovergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One pill I take is diamond shaped and I can split it into two pieces. Others including capsules I have not issue with as long as I take one at a time with a little water and wait for about 1 minute between pills. -
how many days post op before full shower?
LeeB1946 replied to renewed_mind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had glue. Stood backward in shower and let water run down my back and used wash cloth for the tummy area and chest where the little holes were. Took about a week before I could get them really wet. -
I have gone clothes shopping in my own closets several times in the past 6 months. Was out in my storage shed last week and found a large box and opened it to find it full of pants that I had not been able to wear in 2 or more years. Tried them all on and then realized I needed to go through the closet and get rid of the bigger ones so I would have room for the smaller ones. So, took the bigger ones to goodwill yesterday. Letting go is hard to do! Well, not so with bigger pants. Found a suit that is nearly 30 years old and I can now wear it. Style! that is another issue. Best of luck on your journey!

Feeling down... Not where I need to be
LeeB1946 replied to Tiffany3280's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have not nothing wrong. You need to speak to dr or PA about the band being tightened again maybe with less fluid. I wanted 1 cc at my last fill and PA would only give .5cc. Nice guy but a bit stingy with the saline I think. I have slowed down in weight loss myself. Lost 60 pounds and have come to a halt. Will discuss with PA in 2 weeks. Keep following the food plan and maybe a little walking will help. I walk about 1 to 2 miles per day and it seems to help maintain for now. I hope the PA does not say I should walk 4 miles per day. -
First POST OP appointment from the "girl" who said she believed she regretted surgery but look...
LeeB1946 replied to Live4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good gooding girl! I too only walk. Not so much from any limitations but I hate the idea of machines in a gym. Gym should be spelled gymm as I think it is a 4 letter word. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Just, chew, chew, chew and walk walk walk! -
Was not hungry on liquids, but mushie foods I started to get hunger. The more fills I have the hunger gets stronger. Now, don't get scared! This is just me and I would expect it to happen to me because I do everything backwards. I now have 5.5cc in my band and hopefully will get .5 to 1cc in about 3 weeks. With me I get a fill and don't have hunger for about 1 to 2 weeks and then hunger sets in and gets worse until I get a fill and I start all over. I have had 3 fills post surgery. My doc puts in 2cc at surgery so in all I have 5.5cc.

Anyone ever feel like you're being "pinched" at Port area?
LeeB1946 replied to jkg1951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed if I don't sit up straight I will get a pinch around the port and down toward the lapband. I sit up and it is ok. I guess my 4th Grade teacher was right in telling me not to slouch or someday I would regret it! Not as much as I regretted have her for a teacher. If it is true and the good die young what can I say about her as she lived to be 105. -
I use regular high octaine at home. No more than 2 mugs in the AM and if I am out I will do decafe. I too had the reflux and had to have hiatal hernia repair at the time of lap band installation. My Thoracic surgeon was surprised that I was not using antacids even 6 months after surgery. I did not have the nerve to tell him I never used them before or after. Did not have any signs of reflux but was told I had it.

Why do I have so much flatulence{gas}?
LeeB1946 replied to bullpen87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gets me out of crowded places faster. Have noticed it more after my 3rd fill. -
I told the world. So far the world has not said much. Had a few negative remarks, but they can kiss my lap band!
-
I lost fast at first and then have slowed down alot since my 3rd fill. Now only losing about 1 pound per week, but just keep working the program and trying to figure out what food to eat and how much to keep the weight loss going. Walking about 1 to 2 miles per day helps too. Keep up the good work.

Weight watchers and the Band I cannot believe this!!!!
LeeB1946 replied to BubblyBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WW is a diet. I tried it and it was a diet. Those who post nasty comments will post nasty no matter what you do. You did this lap band for YOU not them. You have chosen a life style change. change is something many of them have an issue with. Good luck and ignore them and use WW for a meal plan if it works for you, but do not expect support from a money making outfit. They probably figure they will lose money when you don't come back after gaining all your weight back as many of us (including myself) have done in those weigh and pay programs. Hopefully your surgeon has good support groups for you as mine does. -
1st fill--different
LeeB1946 replied to Blayden2029's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That would be fun to watch. I get my fills from a PA and he removes all the old to measure what is in there and check for leaks. Then puts that amount back plus what ever I am getting for the fill. I now have 5.5cc in a 10cc band. If all works well I will not have to have another fill for at least 3 months. Would love to watch as the stuff goes down and through. -
Breakdown Moment
LeeB1946 replied to fashionstylist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't set yourself up as "I will never be able to have those things again!" That is a great way to fail. Eat the one cupcake and then figure out your calories, carbs, etc and work it out on the next meal or two. Now, if you find yourself doing this every day, maybe time to take a step back at look at your program. Best of luck. -
Funny how things change
LeeB1946 replied to skb123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't make him do something he does not want to do. Work your life and your band and maybe he will see how much success you are having. Push and he will pull away. -
I will tip $5.00 above what my table mate or mates tip. I usually have no problem ordering a small empty salad plate and eating from another's breakfast or dinner. Then because the wait staff is helpful I wait to see how much others tip and I will tip an additional $5.00.

London underground... First Fill... and crazed taxi drivers....
LeeB1946 replied to Amberley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should write a book. "How to get lost in London, if you are from Texas." I have a feeling the being from Texas is not the issue. Best of luck. -
I tell myself, "that is not my food!" Sometimes that works. Or I scream to God, "Get me the Hell out of the kitchen!" He usually does, but then I find myself in the bathroom where something needs to be scrubbed! Oh, well better than grazing I guess.

When idiots like this come into my life I have learned, it too some time, to say a pray asking God to give that person all the good and great things I would want in my life and then I go on living and don't think about the jerk any more.

6 months out and I still hiccup if I eat too fast. yes, the pain is normal probably gas.

Too tight or just need to learn to eat again???
LeeB1946 replied to sp70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having same issue today. Had a fill a few days ago and did liquids and mushie and then solids. Maybe taking too big of a bite. This is my 3rd fill since surgery for a total of 5.5cc. Think I am going into green but need to slow down a bit. -
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP WITH THE FOLLOWING
LeeB1946 replied to Q3Carla721's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used a cane for the first 3 days post op for fear of falling. Walked when I could for short distances and just worked up a little more each day. Make sure you are getting the right amount of protein and it will changes. Best of luck on your journey. -
Unpleasant experience
LeeB1946 replied to rmalikone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slow down fella and enjoy! I too have the wolf syndrome when it comes to food. Have learned to chew small bites and chew, chew chew before I swallow. Have not slimed or vomited in the 5 months since surgery, but did have a bit of a stomach upset when I ate something that was a bit too heavy. Chew, chew, chew, and it all works out well. -
You are giving up a "friend!" Ask yourself, what the heck did that "friend" do for me? Made me fat and miserable. We all have approach this with our own idea of what is going to happen. Attending the support groups that are offered by my surgeon's office as well as 2 or 3 OA meetings per week really help. You can find www.oa.org for a list of meetings in your area if interested. If people in the office get upset cause you snipped just think how they are going to feel in a few months when you are the one running around all "hip slick and cool" in your new outfits! Best of luck in your journey down Bariatric Lane!
