    need suggestions

Love a good typo. Soap??? Stop now and switch to soup! Some people take noodle soups and strain off the noodles, but I was lazy I used tomato soup, chicken/beef/or veg broths. Also used a lot of Chrystal Light drinks to get away from broths. Best of luck on your journey down Bariatric Lane.

    chocolate

Chocolate was a binge food for me. Never met a chocolate I did not like. After surgery I only eat chocolate that is on something like a protein bar I purchase from my surgeon's office and this still can be an issue. Some one sent me the following today on my face book. Hope I can remember it. Chocolate is from the Cocoa tree. Tree is a plant, thus Chocolate is salad.

    First post op visit

Sounds like you are doing good even with no fill and a broken scale. It can get a little discouraging at first, but as time goes on it gets better. I started out fast and am down to about 1 pound per week. I get a fill every 6 to 8 weeks with my last fill being only .5cc, but am filled well this time. 7 months post surgery and down 70 pounds. Keep up the good work and it does get better.
  4. 3 weeks liquid diet and then 3 weeks of soft food. Still use soft food sometimes just for a snack.

    OUCH!!!

I rolled over in bed one night and nearly came straight up and out of bed. Even 7 months out and if I lean when I am sitting (lean to the left) I get a sort of pinch where the port is. PA says it is nothing to be concerned about. Noticed it has not happened in a week or so.
  6. Google bariatric surgeon portland. I know of a great one in Seattle.
  7. Oops. I think that should be brake.
  8. Who is to know if you hit the gas while looking for the break. It happens all the time.

    Meet & Greet(s)

than ks. I go to Overeaters Anonymous conventions and they are a riot. I will be going to one in Vancouver, WA later this month. Would love to find out about a meet and greet and if they have any in the Seattle Portland area.
  10. I had the hernia too, but lettuce is not a problem. I eat small amounts of all kinds of lettuce with no problem so far. almost 7 months out. Some people I know just do not tolerate lettuce at all so maybe you will be one of those. I would say liquids until this is over.
  11. I have overeaten a few times. I go on liquid protein for a day or two and then if I have no pain I feel that I did not damage anything. I did not overeat so soon after surgery, but even so you need to stop solid for a few days to see if there is any pain in the surgical area. If so, call the doc. We all, or at least some of us, have blown it now and again. Guilt is the worse thing we can do, because of our natures we are likely to say the heck with it and continue to overeat. Stop now and it will be easier. Next time there is a pot luck excuse yourself and take a walk. Take a measuring cup and measure out what you can eat and then put you plate and fork down and if you have to go back to work or walk out. These things do take care of themselves in time.

    What are they?

    Finally learned

My only stuck episode was with a chicken hot dog. Smaller bites and chew, chew, chew.

    Ode to Milk

Never a problem as I used milk in my protein shakes for the first 3 weeks of liquid post op diet. I used skim and soy milk.

    Alcohol anyone?

Did not drink for 3 months and then ordered gin and tonic. Drank about 3 sips and could not hold any more. Next time it took me over 1 hour to drink one small g and t and was like I had drunk 3 pre lap band. Goes to my head must faster.

    wow...bad news

Sorry to hear of your pain. choc won't help the family member who is ill. It won't help you deal with the pain. Feel the pain, write out your feelings on paper, talk to someone, a professional, if necessary and go with the flow. Best of luck on your journey.

    Crippling hunger pains?

That is why eating ever 2 hours about 3 oz at a time helps to get through this phase.

    Proud of Myself

That must be hard. Remember what does not kill us will make us stronger. I don't have the family thing to worry about but when I was first banded and would go out with friends I just told myself to eat vicariously through others and it works. I had my liquids or mushies and they got to enjoy too. Now, I look back on it all and laugh, but I did what I had to do to make it. 6 months out and 65 pounds given away.
  19. If you go through x ray machine at your airport like we have at Seattle your lap band will show up, you will be pulled aside and patted down and asked what those yellow squares are. Just tell them what they are and you will be sent on your way. At airports where there is now x ray you will not set off alarms.
  20. One pill I break in half. It is diamond shape and has a notch to cut the pill in half so each half goes down easily, but all my others go down with no problem. One at a time with a little water and wait about 1 to 2 minutes and take the next.
  21. Best of luck and keep dusting .
  22. tape worm treatment. I saw a news article on TV or it might have been "The Doctors" show. They showed an actual tape worm. Seems this is popular in Japan. When people comment negatively about my lap band I just tell them it was my choice and if they don't like it they can "kiss my lap band!" Then I show them where it is located. Have not taken off my shirt yet, but my do that in another 30 pounds.

    Struggling

I take the steroids for Asthma now and then. I always used to say there were 5 pounds of weight waiting for me at the bottom of the pill bottle. With the band it has not been so bad, but not have the cravings I used to have. Still like some of the sweet things but not in the big quantities I used to eat. Best of luck.

    stuck...

Not crazy and maybe your body is adjusting to the new band and its location. I am six months into this and lost a lot before 5 months and then stopped and have picked up a bit, but I do the 2 pound bump. I will lose 4 pounds and then bump back up 2 pounds, down and up for about 1 to 2 weeks and then lose some more. A bit frustrating, but better than before the band will all I did was go UP! Be patient, and best of luck.
  25. I had 3 weeks of liquid and then could do soft food for 3 weeks. I still do some soft food if my band is tight or maybe I ate a bit too much at a previous meal. Each doc seems to be different so do what he/she says to do and you should be fine.
