Have band for 1 year and slimed about 3 times. Teaches me to cut the meet into smaller pieces and chew, chew, chew!

Lost my mojo. Can you help me find it?
LeeB1946 replied to kristallynn13's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It will be hard, but you can do it. Get back with doctor and psychologist. Go back to step 1 and continue to work the program one day at a time. Overeaters Anonymous and other programs like WW and TOPS might be of some help too. Get where there is support. If your surgeon offers support groups go to those. It will work again. I have know a few who have gone from band to by pass or sleeve with success, but remember it will be more surgery to your body. -
Banded 2/2013, lost 85lbs, Help needed to stay on track!
LeeB1946 replied to Kped's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded about the same time as you. 2/19/13 and down 90, but have slowed to 7 pounds in 3 months. Not letting it get me down though. If you have support groups in your area, attend, attend, attend as if you life depended on it! Overeaters Anonymous and other programs have helped many surgery patients. Maybe if you have a support group through your hospital you can volunteer to be a speaker for groups of new people seeking bariatric surgery. I did that last week and feel like a new person. Will speak again next month at the Seattle hospital. Good luck and keep on going. -
BariatricPal Local Chapters…a New Way to Connect!

Would love to help start one in the Seattle area. We have with the hospital where I had the surgery but we only meet once a month in Seattle and the other meeting has been moved out of the city to a new location about 20 miles east. -
Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band
LeeB1946 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded a few days after he was. I have lost 90 pounds and need to lose another 15. I was not as morbidly obese as the Governor, but I would say he is headed in the right direction. Keep going gov. Our politics may differ, but we have one thing in common. -
one week away from my first bandaversary and I still burp. Usually, that is my lap band"Audry" saying you have had enough already, stop with the food! As far a gas passing, depends on what I am eating. Don't get a lot of gas around solid food, but if I go back on the liquid protein for a day or even part of a day I will "pass gas," to put it politely. One year and 85 to 90 pounds given away. I put on a suit the other day and it fit size 34 pants, started at 44, could not find a belt to fit though as they all were too big even on the last hole. Oh, what a day. Best of luck.

Cool husband seems very supportive. Keep up the good work and maybe he will take you on a nice vacation.

Not the response you wanted...Oh you've lost weight? really?

Jealousy is a bitch. Grandma thinks potatoes are love and wants to give some to everyone. Yes, we people over 65 can be abrasive sometimes, but God love us we care. As far as sisters go. Well, I don't have any so can't comment. Fat sister wishes she was getting thin too and can't deal with her own issues. -
Had band with plication. Did not know I had plication until I asked several months later what plication was and was told I have it. Seems to hold the band in tighter than just putting the band on and using fills to keep it in place. Have 6 cc in 10cc band and have been green for about 4 months. Sometimes I think I should get another small fill, but my PA says not just yet. I have had 3 stuck issues and all my fault. Small bites and chew, chew, chew is what I did not do. The slime is icky and luckily I was home when they happened.

My dc told me the BMI charts are not accurate. I am 5 ft 5 and he wants be around 170 which puts me as overweight on the charts. I would have to be 149 to be at the top of healthy weight. 150 puts me back in overweight. He said the people who make up the BMI scale are going to redo it to be a little more realistic. The nurse was probably correct by the chart she/he had on the desk.

Love running into my port in the shower. As far as sex! Don't want to bore you to death. Good luck.

Confession: I fell off the wagon 4 1/2 yrs post op!
LeeB1946 replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Had band put in 12/13 and went well and then came holidays. Did not do too badly but should have stayed away from the fruit cake. Jan 1 weigh in found me 3 pounds up after losing 85 pounds.Had a couple of choices here: Could have beat myself up, told myself I was a failure, etc. So, decided on the other approach. Went back on liquids for 2 days and soft food for 2 days and then back to my regular eating plan. The pounds were off and I am back on track. In years past a 3 pound gain would have been wonderful. I remember holidays where 10 pounds or more were packed on. If you need to talk with doctor, dietitian, etc. and get back on the wagon. Just don't give up. As for the stress, Overeaters Anonymous helps me alot with that. -
Mine is Audry. Named after the man eating plant in the musical "Little shop of Horrors." Now, this is not to say that my band is a horror, anything but. The plant had one line "Feed me!" When I am hungry it is Audry saying "feed me." Then after 3 oz of food she says "thank you, I have had enough"and if I don't listen and try to eat some more she will say, "stop feeding me or something's going to get stuck!"

con of any WLS you will feel cold even in the summer I was cold. This winter in the NW I am layered with silk long johns, thermal long johns, jeans, tee shirt, shirt, sweater, fleece coat and 2 pairs of socks on my feet. Then I have to go outside and get colder. $280 light bill last month and wish my blue cross paid for that. Other than that I love this darn thing. Almost to my first bandaversary and 85 to 90 pounds given away. I did not lose the weight, I gave it away so I don't have to go looking for it and get it back. I can eat anything if I cut it small and chew like a beaver. I have had a couple of uncomfortable stuck incidents and they were my fault. Both times it was from overcooked dry meat that I did not cut small enough or chew long enough. The last one lasted over 2 hours and I could not throw up all I did was slime. Luckily I was at home alone.

I am now down about 80 to 85 and holding. Have my first bandaversery 2/19/13 would like to hit 100 by then.

When I get the hiccups I am aware I am eating too fast and it is time to stop. I say it is when Audrey, my name for my band, is telling me she has had it and I had better stop and listen.
-
I have gotten meat stuck 3 times and slimed like crazy the last two times. The last time lasted about 4 hours, or so it seemed. I tried to vomit, but nothing could bring it up, just had to slime and wait for it to stop. Not much fun, so I don't eat Jenno Turkey Franks any more.

So Disappointed :(
LeeB1946 replied to newlifebeginswithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Food journals help. Don't beat yourself up over a slip. I have almost 10 months into this and 85 pounds given away. Still eat a little too much now and again. As Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is a new day!" May have misquoted that haven't seen the movie in years. Don't give up, talk to your dietitian and work the program. -
Wls....a Bad Name!
LeeB1946 replied to chasingadream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told the world, and got a few negative comments, but I am too old to care and now 85 pounds down. Hold your head up and work the band and the program your doctor gives you. -

Cant Gain Any More Weight...
LeeB1946 replied to Gettingbackontrack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
B 52 is correct about the diet talk. We have to keep on the ball and use the band as a tool. If I did not go to OA to work on my mind hunger and all the stuff that could cause me to overeat the band would not work for me. The band only works in my stomach. The brain and the spirit do the rest. -
Surgery Is Monday And I Almost Backed Out Today
LeeB1946 replied to finsmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Love my band and when people ask me why I just tell them I did not want to buried in a piano crate. I have only heard that arthritis gets better after weight loss. I am 9 months out and today I had my 9 month follow up and have lost 82 pounds. dietitian thought I was a RYN patient and I had to tell her I was lap band. She was surprised that I had lost so fast with the band. People who are negative are going to be negative even if you fast for 3 months. Don't go onto pages like you tube and face book looking for support. This web site is the best. I wish you luck in your stroll down Weight Loss Surgery Lane. -
New Here, Banded Awhile Ago, Starting Over
LeeB1946 replied to boxergal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best of luck. I might recommend Overeaters Anonymous to help deal with some of the stress and remember you are doing this for yourself. -
It took me 4 fills and 8.5 months to get stuck. Now, I have had 3 so don't eat turkey franks any more. Eggs cooked anyway are no problem. I find that I get stucks if I don't pay attention to my eating and try to eat like I did before the band. It hurts for hours and I slime like crazy. Look like a rabid dog and wish someone would put me down.
