Dec 18th sleevers have you have a BM yet?
kpaige77 replied to thensley820's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am the opposite! diarreah. i think from all of the liquids and milk. i have always had a very sensitive stomach so not surprising -
you could try oven "fried" versions. i have made my kids chicken tenders this way and they love them... i did to. just use a whole wheat bread crumb (panko is preferrable) roll the tenders in the crumbs and then spray them with Pam. bake at somewhere around 350-375 til done. you can even bake them on a cooling rack that is set on a baking sheet. this helps the outside to stay crunchy all over. hope that helps!

Welcome!!! I was just sleeved on the 18th and am fairly new to the site as well. I haven't told very many people because of some initial negative comments. I felt it was more important to keep myself positive. Do whatever you need to do to remain content with your decision. Just make sure to have at least one person who will back you up- a good support person. That will come in handy!

Dec 18th sleevers i still feel awful
kpaige77 replied to thensley820's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
definitely do not take motrin products. they will irritate the heck out of your sleeve. just tylenol or whatever you doc prescribed. i have been thinking "what have i done" since i woke up from surgery. all i can think about is what i'll never be able to eat again. i have a lot of rumbling in my belly and not a whole lot is agreeing with my sleeve. having trouble getting in all my fluid and protein. i'm getting in about 40 grams protein. i am so sick of protein shakes already. on the positive side i've lost 9lbs already. i'm sure it's just water weight but it's 9 lbs of something i didnt need! -
1 Week Post-Op And Think I'm Dehydrated
kpaige77 replied to 3girlsmama's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Are u allowed baby food yet? A jar of purreed prunes would be better than meds. You need lots of liquids going in for things like collace or senacot to help. If you don't you will end up even more constipated. Good luck! -
I was sleeved on the 18 th too! Congrats to u!!! I haven't passed any gas either. Had a few small burps but that was it. My pain has been more from gas and the bad headache I got from the morphine. They ended up giving me toradol and that helped much better than the morphine. Have u had any trouble keeping stuff down? I had 3 baby spoon worth of vanilla chobani yogurt when I got home and it slide right back up. I'm supposed to be doing all liquids and that includes Greek yogurt without bit of fruit in it; low fat cream soups strained; sugar free pudding and jello... nothing feels good once I swallow. Wondering if my sleeve is still too swollen to handle anything other than liquids. I think I'm calling the nutritionist tomorrow just to check. I don't want to lose muscle mass or hair. Oh and have you tried gas x strips or chewables? I chewed up 2 today and it seemed to help get stuff moving. No gas out but it did help with a small bm. Tmi but hope it helps! Keep in touch. Love finding all these sleeve sisters!

Hi all. I have Bern a liked for about a month and just got around to posting. I am scheduled for sleeve tomorrow at 10am. Current weight is 220. I'm 5'3 and 34yrs young. Married to my high school sweetie with 2 kids. I have been so gung ho up until tonight. I am really having a difficult tine thinking about all the foods I cant have anymore. Pathetic I know. But how I'm feeling at this time. I could seriously tear in to some serious food right now. Maybe its all because I'm starving from this 7 day liquid diet. Cant imagine that tomorrow At this time I wont be wanting to eat. A little Concerned also because I have this cold. Lots ofjumk in the nose and a chunky cough. The surgeon listened to my lungs in fri and he said they were clear. Anyway. Thanks for the support that you all offer through this site. Its truely a blesssing!

Hi everyone! i am home from the hospital!!!! Feeling much better than i thought. Did a lot of sleeping in the hospital... just couldn't stay awake. Also did 4-5 walks around the floor when i was there. this really did help a lot! the only trouble i am having is keeping food down. had an all liquid diet yesterday (broth, diluted apple juice, jello which i didn't eat, bottle of water). i drank most of the broth and all of my juice. took me all day. nurse said it was okay because i was still on iv fluids. this am they took me off the iv fluids and brought me another all liquid tray. i was supposed to go to full liquids (pudding, yogurt, cream soups, no sugar added carnation instant breakfast mixed with double strength milk) but i guess they forgot. so when i got home i was needing a pain pill and knew i needed to eat something first so i thought i'd try a few bites of Chobani yogurt. i can have any flavor that doesn't contain chunks. took 3 baby spoon fulls and after i finished it started rising back up in my throat. ended up spitting it out in the sink. not sure what that means. maybe my belly is too swollen to handle anything but liquids yet??? any one else have this problem???

I'm new here. my surgery is scheduled for december 11. i'm thinking about moving it to the 18 because my kids chorus concerts are both during the week of the 11th. they are my first priority! i'm a little nervous about the recovery time! hoping it doesn't take too long. we are supposed to go on a little day trip on the 28 of dec with my in-laws (i'm not telling them about the surgery). maybe i can just play it off as being tired and not feeling well. maybe someone who's had the surgery can chime in and let me know if i'm nuts thinking i can travel 10 days after surgery!

Well... Decided to go with the sleeve instead of the rny. Better choice for me considering I already have a vitamin d, calcium, and iron deficiency. I and my doctor was concerned that my levels would just get worse after the procedure. With the sleeve there isn't the malabsorption so I should be much better off. Thanks to everyone who offered support and encouragement on this site. Hopefully it's a great group on the vertical sleeve site as well!! Best of luck to you all on your journey to health!

Y physician sends patients home for a week or two with a drain tube because he feels it helps with swelling, infection, and knowing if their are leaks. This whole thing freaks me out!!! How does it stay in? Does it tug and pull? Is it painful? Does it hurt like crazy to have taken out??? Is it gross to empty??? Not feeling so good about this part of it - but I do understand his reasoning behind why he leaves then in a while!

Liked the page and after checking it out a bit I LOVE the page and all the info and tid bits. I checked out the giveaway bag and I would be beyond excited to win this! Just joined a gym and start later this week with my workouts. I also am 1 month away from my surgery so all the samples couldn't come at a better time!!!

If you order the passion iced tea unsweetened it should have no sugar. They do sell the tea bags at most grocery stores and at Walmart. The brand is Tazo! I just brew it like I would brew regular tea and keep it in my fridge. So refreshing and no caffeine because it's and herbal tea! If you can get used to drinking unsweet and not add any artificial sweetener it is soooo good for you! My nutritionist told me unsweetened (and no sugar substitutes) and decaf tea is te same as drinking water but with the added benefit of the antioxidants you get from tea!!!

I want to have a family picture taken that I actually put out on display! And I want to buy a pair of Tom's shoes. Tried a pair on and they look ridiculous with my fat legs and little feet.

Hi everyone. I am new here. Had my first appointment on june8 and so far am right on schedule to have my surgery sometime in December. I just went for a sleep test because at that first appt. I mentioned that I haven't slept through the night in years and it keeps getting worse. They said if I had any signs of sleep apnea that I would have to come back again this mon for a repeat test with the addition of using the sleep apnea mask. Lo and behold they let me know I do have to come back. So apparently I have sleep apnea. This has its positives and negatives for me. The positives are I now have a premorbidity factor- my bmi was only 39.7 and had no other health factors. Now I fit the bill no problem! I was weighing with my shoes on before to hit 40! Also I suppose a positive would be I should get a full nights sleep finally! The negatives are that I have to wear the darth vadar mask! Boooooo! So my question is- does anyone else have sleep apnea? I was told I have a number of options as far as masks so I'd love some input in this area! They let me try a little mushy feeling one the first night that just goes below your nose that was tiny and less bulky than the others. The only problem that I saw with that one was you had to sleep with you mouth closed and only breath through your nose. I am a teeth clencher so I try hard to relax my jaw... anyway. Any input on what masks you all prefer?

This sounds ridiculous but I am terrified of missing food after surgery. I am tore between being mentally ready for this change and being sad about not having certain things ever again. Anyone else feeling this way or had these feelings before surgery? I just need to know km not crazy!

Scared Of Missing Food
kpaige77 replied to kpaige77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all do much! Just to know thati am not crazy is wonderful! Lol! I know its totally worth it and really am excited to start my new life! -
Thank you for your response. I have heard from my doc the same thing about the chances of it going away after rny are huge- especially since I didn't have it when i was younger and a healthy weight! I guess I will give the nasal pillow a try. Maybe ill get used to it when I can finally breathe properly.
