    Cant stop eating!

thank you for the encouragement. in my mind pre-op i had this vision of flying through everything! forever the optimist! kind of turning in to a pessimist which i need to nip in the bud real fast!!! i guess i need to remind myself that i am only 12 DPO. doc mentioned something about top of sleeve maybe still swollen or possibly too tight. not sure if that will be something i have to deal with or if it's fixable. either way- this is my life now!!!
  2. I've had a horrible productive cough since thurs night and been running a low grade fever since yesterday. Called my surgeon and he says nothing sounds related to the surgery but more like I've caught something. Possibly bronchitis or pneumonia. Figured $20 copay is worth making sure my lungs are clear. A little paranoid that all this coughing will cause a leak. Anyone know if this is possible? Feeling super week. Only getting in about 1/2 c Tom soup mixed with water and about 32 oz water with apple juice added a day since Friday. Can't keep milk stuff down so my protein shoes are making me gag.
  3. No flu but have either bronchitis or pneumonia or possibly both. He gave me a liquid antibiotic, a cough syrup for nighttime and albuterol. Hopefully that helps fast. Really nice guy. I told him I had just had vsg and he was very positive about it. I am a lower bmi so I've had lots of "input" from people who have no idea what I've gone through being fat for the last 15 years

    Cant stop eating!

I did the same thing and figured "i'llI learn real fast once I can't eat". Well I am literally eatin my words at 12 DPO. I can't eat anything except apple juice. And I am emotionally miserable! I wish someone would have pushed me to do some kind of food addiction counseling.
  5. Every doc is different but my doc said in order to get the full benefit from the vitamin you need to chew them. They might go into the sleeve okay but don't stay there long enough to be broken down and absorbed fully. I too am having a hard time with the flinstone chewables. They are so bitter and sweet. I asked my nut and doc about the gummies and they both said that gelatins are not a digestible food so you won't reep the benefits from them. Hope this helps. If anyone finds anything they think tastes good please pass it on!!!!
  6. I am only 12 DPO. My surgeon didnt seem concerned that it was sleeve related. I was just swabbed to check for the flu and the doc that saw me said my lungs sound likecrap. He said the flu and bad chest colds are bad right now so he wanted to make sure. I suppose if itstheflu I get tamiflu but either way he want me on albuterol. Do u know if this is okay to use? I would guess so since I've read of a lot of people having asthma who have vsg
  7. trying to figure this all out! any info would be helpful!
  8. what a beautiful girl you are! my nut had me make a list of all the things i could think of that i want to do after i lose the weight- one of them was to have my hubby be able to give me a piggy back ride with out killing him! lol! our numbers are very similar. i am 5'3" and my initial weigh in was 224. only 11 DPO. so far i am totally regretting this. having trouble finding things to eat. still on my full liquid stage for another 4 days. i have developed a bad case of lactose intolerance. hoping to one day in the next few months be able to smile like you are! i am down to 199 today which is a great thing!!!!! just wish it wasn't due to basically starving myself!

    Taco soup

rotel tomatoes are basically just a specific brand of diced tomatoes with varying degrees of hot chiles (mild, or hot). they are typically with the mexican foods or in the tomato sauce/paste/diced isle. if you can't find them just use a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles
  10. kpaige77

    Would you do it again?

i would not do it! i am miserable at 11 DPO. can't keep anything down except diluted juice. i am praying that a few months from now i will feel differently but at this moment in time i would not
  11. The reasons for the stages are many but the most important being 1-when you have something other than liquids you stomach has to "work" or "mode around" in order to work up digestion juices and to work the food into a form that can be absorbed and then the rest made into waste.obviously the less action in your stomach the better for healing properly. Think of it like if you had surgery on your ankle you wouldn't be up and walking right away just to see if you could. It would need times of elevation to crutches to 75% weight to 50% weight... 2- you have a massive suture line. If you eat solids tiny pieces of food could get stuck in that suture line and cause a terrible infection. 3- all of the above could cause a leak which could very well make you septic before you knew what was happenning. Please don't push the progress just to see if you can or because you feel okay afterwards. Count it a blessing you feel so good and take care of yourself. I am 10 DPO and still have a hard time keeping anything down other than clear liquids
  12. Wow! I just got in bed and turned on this app for the first time.today. my family and I were all watching a movie and I am just an emotional mess today. I have done nothing but hold back tears all day and I guess that's why I came up to bed so I could let it all out. If there was a way to reverse this surgery I would be in there begging tomorrow! I know that I would have most likely. Never done this on my own since ive been trying for 15 years but I sooooooo regret every aspect of it. I am now dairy intolerant. STILL having trouble getting foods to stay down so I am fearing that I have a sleeve that is too narrow at the top and will be on a liquid dietfor the rest of my life. Ate 2 baby spoon bites of yogurt and it came right back up plus more saliva than I thought was possible. Boot throw up mist like regurgitation. Have this foamy saliva in my mouth all the time and all the excess is making me sick to my stomach. Have a lingering g post nasal drip cough that's making my main incision site sore from all the coughing. Seems like I have a really good day where I can just tell myself "it is all short term. You will be able to eat real food again soon plus be healthier and skinnier" and then there are days when I don't est or drink hardly anything because I cant drink anymore broth with unjury. Anyway. Sorry for the blabbing but I wanted to let you know you are not alone. I am right there with you to the tee!!! Such a wonderful coincidence that your post was the first I saw today! I suppose we just need to allow ourselves to cry it out and try to hang in there!!!
  13. I'm sorry. I just realized I replayed to a post you made back in march! Lol! How are you doing??? I will be entering my puréed stage sometime next week. Any suggestions on what to eat that won't taste disgusting all blended up?
  14. Looks like you are doing wonderful for only being 6 dpo! I was and still am very paranoid about not getting 75 g protein in everyday. Typically I am around 65. My doc ensured me to ease up on myself and it gets a little easier everyday. What is your diet like?

    Dry Curly Hair

The best thing I have ever done for my wavy/curly hair is to start doing the "curly girl method". Seriously my hair is the healthiest its ever been. I was spending all of this money on great hair products and now I spend less than $1 a week. If you go on youtube and look under waterlily??? (Sorry- its a series of 3 numbers that I cant remember. Ill look afternoon post thisand report) she hived the beet tutorials. Basic idea is you stop using shampoo which almost always contains sulfates of some kind and start cleansing and conditioning with a silicone free conditioner. Best part is I use suave naturals conditioned which smells great ans costs $1.50. I was so skeptical but it is amazing. I even use it as a leave in conditioned. Occasionally I use a silicone free gel if the humidity is bad but hardly ever! Definitely give it a try. The thing to remember is commit to it and not switch back and forth.
  17. Wondering how you are feeling today? Did you ever get your pain under control?
  18. i know i know!!!! it's for my health, it was the best decision... yada yada yada! but right now i am very much regretting this decision. i can't get anything to stay down except for broth. everything else is regurgitated over and over. i should be starting pureed next tues but how can i do that when i can't even get full liquids to stay down. i swallow, it goes down to about my breast bone and then the regurgitation starts. heavy milk products come back up curdled, other things get foamy. i just want to feel normal again. saw my doctor for my 7 day post op today and he said you look great and hopefully it will get better over time. i go back in a month to see him again and i go to see my nut next wed. i am so afraid i'm going to start losing my hair because of the lack of protein. just don't know what to do

    Regretting this

[quote name=Lisa ' timestamp='1356570485' post='608254] Don't be so hard on yourself!!!....Everything will be okay!!! I think all of us have buyers remorse at some point post op....this is normal!! Not being able to keep anything down and not being able to eat anything can be so frustrating, i know. You just need to hang in there!!! If you can keep broth down, then drink broth...it will help you stay hydrated. Can you tolerate any other clear liquids (i.e. Isopure, Water, SF popsicles)? In the first 10 days post op, I lived on these things. Also, don't HAVE TO move to pureed foods exactly when you're "supposed" to. If you aren't ready for the next stage then stay where you are. The first few weeks after surgery are the most difficult and, I promise, 6 months from now you will love your sleeve!!! Just hang in there and try and stay positive!!! I have been drinking a 32 ounce Powerade Zero everyday so i think between that and the 24 ounces of water in my broth i am staying pretty well hydrated. I haven't tried anything else as far as Protein drinks. my doc pushes for us to use whey protein isolate and it is hard to find anything that tastes good that is the high quality protein. What does the Isopure taste like? Is is more of a juice??? I tried mixing my unflavored unjury powder with my powerade and ended up throwing it out. gross. sorry to sound like such a whiney brat! i guess i am just having one of those moments! thanks for all of the encouragement! i guess there is nothing i can do about it now- not like they can stitch back in my stomach!!! lol! just hard to think it will be a huge struggle like this for 3,4,5,6 months. I just want to eat a bowl of veggie soup! isn't that crazy??? something simple like that sounds so good right now! the junk doesn't even sound good- just want some real food or at least something besides broth. i suppose my food addiction was so much worse than i thought. so glad you and everyone else are here to talk to. i don't want to admit that i am having a hard time to any of my family. they have been so sweet and supportive to me through this and i don't want to feel like i am failing already!

    Salads

They usually contain some very hard to digest foods, take up a lot of space in your little tummy, and contain little to no protein. Eventually it will be something we can have but not a great choice this soon out. Maybe try a lettuce less salad with lots of protein. Do you like southwest foods? I have a salad i made for my family a lot before surgery that I can't wait to make again when I'm cleared for it. It's pretty high in protein. I can post it if your interested.

    So sad at times

Congrats on your decision to take control of your health. I am 7 dpo and I know exactly what you mean. I dread running into people I went to school with and I never post pictures of myself on facebook. A little encouragement for you- I am one of the lower bmi people. Starting weight was 224 and 220 on day of surgery. I am a shorty-5'2". Today I decided to weigh myself. I told myself I wasn't going to because I knew I would lose slower since I was smaller to begin with and I didn't want to get discouraged. I have lost 15 lbs in 1 week! I can't wait until this time next year when my kids and my hubby and I can take our first family photo and send it out with our Christmas cards. Best of luck to you and keep your head up. Something that helped me was to make a list of all the things I wanted to do when I got healthy! Maybe try it and hang it on your fridge!

    Bowel changes

I know exactly what you mean. I am 7 dpo and it is like a volcanic eruption everytime. Seems like tons of air. I am using a ton of toilet bowl cleaner this last week! I see my doc for my post op tomorrow and I am going to ask about maybe being lactose intolerant. Hang in there!
  24. Congrats and hang in there! Please! If u r having pain in the hospital let ur nurse know immediately. They r setup to try many different drugs until they find something that works. My nurse said I should never be about a 3 on the 0-10 pain scale. They had me in the PCA morphin pump and I hated that. I could push it every 8 minutes but I felt like I never got any rest because I was always waking up in pain and I kept losing the little button thing. Plus the morphin was giving me really bad headaches. They Then tried toradol and that was my miracle drug! Worked great for me! Just make sure to tell the nurse that u r still in too much pain and u want to try a different drug! Prayers for u that u get some rest and relief!
  25. so tonight i tried to drink a 1/2c of skim milk just to get in a few extra grams of protein. it was soooo yummy but after about 10 minutes i started regurgitating it back up and it was like it was curdled. the same thing happened when i tried to have a few spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt. i have no problem with the milk in my protein shakes. wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
