  1. I was not awake and you should NOT be!!!! I would definitly talk to your surgeon and ask for clarification. Standard treatment is NOT to intubate during consciousness unless emergency. Call your surgeon and ask them to clarify the anesth. comment.

The Start Of A New Journey

Ms. Goldy-- you are not a failure, only have not had the right tools to help you be healthy! "Diets" do not work because they are not a permanent thing. The surgery is permanent. You CAN blow it, but you can not go back to the place you were without hurting yourself. You should have the help of a crack nutritionist to guide you along the way and if you stay active on the boards, you have support. In your local area there should be support groups too. And we all LEARN to find our own health. You are not a failure, dear. Just have not found the right tools for you yet. See the positive.

    Updated Story

I am so sorry that yours was not easy and that you are still struggling. You and your family are in my prayers. Your God has not forsaken you-just testing. Remember that you will never be given more than you can handle. I know that when I am down, I really can't see the end point, but have hope. You are not alone out there and there are alot of us willing to help you any way we can. I don't know where you live, but I can sure help with cards if that would help you. Please, please, don't give up. Remember how much your family loves you and supports you in your journey to better health...and your child looks forward to romping with a thin, healthy mom. It may not be quite as soon as we hoped, but it will happen. Blessings to you

    Wtf!?!?!?

I self paid because even with good insurance it was not covered and could not even be discussed. I pay outrageous premiums and did the sleeve for metabolic reasons, but still this was not open to discussion with the insurance company. "We don't "do" that surgery for any reason, but we do offer coverage for hypnosi." Hypnosis? I can be hypnotized out of metabolic syndrome? I WISH!

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)

lmao and THANK YOU for all of the honesty! I have noticed a big change on the outside and it IS easier to maintain, bump and grind with and not so ugly and obtrusive in tight pants. So far no noticable change on the inside. My doc DID tell me that the skin might not tighten there all the way--I am 51 and have been a yo-yo my entire life. AND he told me that there is special plastic surgery for that, too! :-) Which made me feel much better. It is called labiaplasty. So even with everything else, if you are not happy with the hoo-hoo in the end, you CAN do something about it :-) I don't know about you all, but knowing that made me feel a lot better! Thanks for asking! and everyone doing the telling.

    Got Cocky, Messed Up!

Oh my could I relate! :-) 2 months out, we were on vacation and visiting friends. Had a WONDERFUL dessert.......only took 4 bites and it was 4 bites too many. No foaming (same as sliming), thought I was doing great...20 minutes later I was wondering if I was going to be able to make it through the night! I finally threw up and felt better, but I was begining to wonder if I had accidently committed death by chocolate! OOOOOOOO how I can relate and will NOT do that again, at least for a while :-)

    No Motivation To Work Out

Aren't we all. I, too, have no motivation and do not get a thrill out of exercising. I can think of 10 million things I'd rather do than exercise-getting a root canal included. :-( I work 2 jobs...high school science teacher by day and college science prof by night. The LAST thing I want to do is take that precios half hour between points A and B and exercise. So I hear you and join my little voice to your rant. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions or tips or hints on equipment that a not so fat, lazy and busy girl like me could use. :-)

    Christmas Day Challenge!

Hey Spiedose! Be careful there, friend! YOu can lose a lot in the first month and have done FABULOUS so far, but be careful while at the gym and don't get carried away! You have to give your body time to completely heal before going all out. Walking and toning-great......we don't want you in the hospital for rupturing anything! Easy does it.....you have the rest of your life to gung ho it. Allow yourself to heal now.

Does Unjury & Iced Tea Work?

I have used the unjury unflavored and the chocolate in iced coffee, so I do not think it will be much different. Even the unflavored has a little taste at first, though. I just ignore it. The unjury Chicken soup is good, and Nectar is also a good brand I think. I would ditto the post above-try the samples. good luck!

    New Journey

So Thanksgiving dinner has come and gone and I am so proud of myself! I did the cooking, hosted a lovely dinner and followed all of my rules.....and no melt down. I ate as I was supposed to and enjoyed myself thoroughly! Without being sick, eating too much and no pie at all :-) Sorry if I sound like I am crowing, but i really am proud of myself! I hope it went as well for everyone else. As a scuba diover, it is drilled into us "Plan your dive and dive your plan" This was "plan your eating and eat your plan" and just as in diving, it WORKED! Happy holidays everyone! Stay way away from the cookie tray! Nan
  15. I, too, had thought about this for a long time, joking about it for years. I finally made the decision when my diabetes went totally out of control and I put back everything I had worked so very hard to get off over 4 years PLUS! I felt like just giving up and allowing the disease to take its course, but have a 9 year old grandson who absolutely depends on me and couldn't do it. I went to see Dr. Crouthamel, who gave me hope, and worked like crazy for 8 months to get myself healthy enough to have surgery. I have not looked back and am so thankful for Dr. C.! Every day on the right side of the grass is a great one!

    Teachers? Where Are The Teachers?

I am a science teacher at a public high school in Spanaway, Wa and also teach college for Pierce College. My health was SOOOO BAD during the last school year that I had to tell my department members that I was having the sleeve. My sleeve was June 21, right after school got out, so I have seen very few of my colleagues, but the ones I have seen have noticed that I am HEALTHY now. What the rest of the school thinks, I do not care. This was for me, to stay alive. My comment to them...it is a great day to be on the right side of the grass! :-)
