  1. Thinking mine is too. I notices that the steri-strips around my port site were a little loose and had a different color to them. The ones on the end were lifted and the wound is oozing a little
  2. I will start a thread and see who responds and we can throw out ideas to get together
  3. I'm in Arlington, banded last week!
  4. That must be the true results way, I didn't meet my surgeon until I had done EVERYTHING else to prepare for surgery. I honestly don't know if I would've stayed with them if I had met him first, nothing against him, he's just def not going to be someone I "connect" with. If this is important to you, then I'd go with the place where u actually meet your dr and decide if you connected with him, which it sounds like you did.
  5. Today is my one week mark, and the official weigh day according to my surgeon. It's been an ok week, some rough patches with hunger and pain. But it's all worth it, because today I am 15lbs down from my surgery weight. NEVER had that kind of loss in one week. So happy I decided to take the plunge and make a permanent change in my life it only gets better from here!!!!

    Ugh.......

I'm only a week post op, and I will say that those aches and pains gradually go away. I'm still having them, but not anywhere near the intensity as they were from the start. Follow the advice of the more experienced bandsters, it helps! And know that soon all the aches will be worth it
  7. Just wondering If on a regular basis I will be aware of my band. Aside from any complications, ie getting stuck, productive burps (all of which I'm trying to avoid)
  8. I know everyone is different, but I'm just curious as to how much weight you lost by your follow up appointment. NOT including pre-op diet loss. And how far out was that follow up appointment Thanks for any input.

    What are your non-scale goals??

Awesome topic! My goals are: to never shop plus size again To be thin, sexy enough to take boudoir pics for hubby Run Disney half Marathon next year Play with kids without being out of breath Be able to try on clothes with my 15 year old daughter when we go shopping
  12. Oddly enough, as hungry as I felt, tiny amounts of food satisfied those urges. That did surprise me, especially since my dr leaves the band completely empty.
  13. I got banded on the 28th, I haven't had any hunger until late last night. Luckily, my dr lets me start soft foods (anything I can mash with a fork) today. broth was definitely not going to satisfy my hunger. Lol. I think I did very well today, I didn't go crazy since I was finally able to eat something. For once I feel good about losing weight. I'm twelve pounds down since surgery. And I'm NOT looking back. Lap bad = best decision ever (so far)

    Pain/recovery compared to c/section?

Shawna, I'm with you. With my csection, I only took Motrin, I didn't need the stronger pain meds, with this, I've already had to refill my pain script. I will say its not pain where the incisions are, it's mostly the port pain though. I had surgery 3 days ago, and am still having pain and using the ice packs. This was def not the case with my c-section.
  15. I don't want to spend a ton on them, and I've never liked any of them, can't get past that powdery feel to them. Anyone know one that is similar to slim fast, I have been able to tolerate those.

    Banded 12/28!

Tess, I got banded yesterday as well, and I have to agree, waking up was AWFUL, I'd like to avoid having to do that ever again. Other than that, I'm pretty sore at my port site, gas is mostly gone, and I'm taking it easy, eating broth and Popsicles. Congrats to you, and good luck on ur journey!
  17. Feeling ok, slept off and on all night. Been taking pain meds and gas-x around the clock, also been trying to walk as much as possible and constantly taking small sips of fluids. Math inking I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing just passing the time til I can feel more normal. No regrets this far!

    Post op day 2

    I'm thinking....lol. Darn auto correct
  19. Glad things went well, congrats on starting ur new life!
  20. Good luck and prayers to the bandsters getting banded today. On my way!!! Not nervous, YET! Ready to start a new life

    The day has arrived!

Glad to hear things went well, I'm home too. Been resting all day. There's some port pain and pain in my left shoulder, but I have my gas x and heating pad.

    The day has arrived!

Tiffany, everything will be fine!!! Getting ready to head out myself, see you on the other side!
  23. I've got pretty much everything in place, not nervous right this second. Probably because my teeth are bothering me from the dental work earlier today. Ready to start this new chapter!
  24. For me, it's not necessarily the sweet taste of slim fast, it's not having that powdery feel to it that protein drinks have. That's what I'm looking for, something that's lacking that feel.
