  1. Yeah, it's just terrible! I may ask about a prescription, but I really don't want to. Seems just as unhealthy as taking a bunch of laxatives all the time. I keep thinking it will get better...... But it just isn't, simple as that.
  2. I'm 28. Mostly good genes. But I also started out At a light weight with a BMI of 37, and I was only overweight for about 4 years. That helps a lot! Thank you all for your comments
  3. No, no plastic surgery at all. My skin just bounced back. My inner thighs do have a little excess skin on them though. But not enough to pay to have it removed.
  4. Ah sorry should of posted a skinny jeans pic. I was taking before and afters earlier....so here is my after shot (minus pants). Lol

    Self Sabotage

I also drink non fat hot chocolate and it really kills the cravings. Not sure how, but it does!

    Let's Talk Fashion

White House Black Market has the best skinny jeans in my opinion (at least on me). If you don't have one, I'd try buying a pair online. They fit perfectly!
  7. I would really like an idea of what you all paid in total for your sleeve surgery in Mexico, and who the surgeon was and what was all included. Thank you!!!
  8. I tend to lean towards many people just don't know what to say when you say you are going to have WLS. In fact, I think inside their heads, they're probably thinking we are quite fat. It just isn't comfortable for them to say "good for you! You're a cow, this will do you some good!" It isnt everyday someone tells them they are having surgery to lose weight. Just my opinion.

    Soda?

I'm a little over 10 months out and I drink diet coke daily, and have since 3 months out. No issues for me. I drink my 64 ounces of water when I get to work in the morning, and then after lunch and throughout the rest of the day, I usually just drink diet coke.
  10. Oh I hate it when I hear this!!!! I just want to kick them! I just say "yep, I'm happy where I'm at" and leave it at that, whether it's the truth or not.
  11. I already had my sleeve done in the states, but my boyfriend wants it
  12. Hi everyone. Yes, thank you all for your advice. I did do protein shakes for quite a while and I indeed hit goal. In fact I am a little below. I added food back in slowly and am now eating high protein/low carb and maintaining just fine, probably losing actually. So far so good, but I am past the protein shakes now. I'm on real food trying to hold steady where I'm at, but I won't complain if I lose 5 more pounds. I agree that the real challenge is maintaining not hitting goal (now that I have hit goal, hehe). I am going to do everything in my power to not gain.

    The "Honeymoon" Period?

More hunger and more capacity. I remember being exactly 5 months post op on my lunch break at work and having a panic attack at how much more I could suddenly eat.

    The "Honeymoon" Period?

100% agree that the honeymoon phase is real. I think it varies for everyone. At 4 or 5 months post op, a switch definitely flipped in my body! So I didn't quite make it to 6 months, but I have pushed and shoved my way through this fighting for every ounce lost....and I made it!
  15. Thank you so much! I have been following your journey so far and you are doing great! Just wanted to let you know I have noticed ya!!
  16. My boyfriend is having surgery in Mexico and will be flying into San Diego. He needs to arrive in San Diego by 11am. I don't fly much and when I do I'm not really on a time schedule, so I need help with this. When I look up flights (we are flying Southwest), I imagine obviously the departing flight time is MY time, duh, (Nashville, Central time), but the ARRIVAL time, are they listing the arrival time in San Diego time or in my own Central time? I hope someone can help with this silly issue!!! But it is pretty important for me to know when booking flights with Southwest. I really appreciate if someone can help with this!!!
  17. If you eat those things and feel guilty for "taking advantage" of your sleeve, that's all on you. Don't let others make you feel that you are doing anything wrong. This is your journey, your life, your (new, it sounds like) sleeve. I'm almost 10 months out, I hit BELOW my goal this morning. I remember in the beginning feeling and saying the same things you are right now. When you get further out, you can eat anything (I've been able to since I was able to start eating again), volumes of food you are able to consume get shockingly larger, and your appetite will likely enhance by a LOT. I am only speaking from my own experience, but I bet most people at my stage in the game will agree. I do allow myself to eat what I want, usually. I think if you feel like you get push back on this topic, it's because people who have gone through it know the importance of making good habits. That's what they are, really, habits. Eating a low carb tortilla isn't anything to be ashamed about. I do the same. This is your journey, and to be successful and to maintain success, obviously some changes in your life and diet will have to be made. That doesn't mean you can't live normally, have a piece of cake, or need to feel guilty for indulging in something you enjoy once in a while. You just need to keep your eye on the prize: maintenance. I have been making a "plan" for maintenance for a few weeks now, otherwise if I ate what I wanted whenever I wanted, I'm positive I could easily gain back a LOT of weight sadly. But luckily for me right now, I went through my weight loss phase with a little bit of "very strict" and a tiny bit of "carefree," and I feel prepared to maintain my weight right now (actually I may decide to lose 5 more to be safe). Anyhow, do what works for you, be smart about it, and best of luck to you on your journey.
  18. I had my surgery in the states and paid an arm and a leg out of pocket. My boyfriend wants to have the surgery and I am almost certain I will have him go with Dr Illan! I have already been in touch with Omar, who seems great.. First, how is his name spelled? Is it ILLAN or IIIan (with three i's). I ask because when I google him I have a hard time finding him. I would love to hear of others experiences with this surgeon and their entire experience. Going to Mexico is very scary for me, but my boyfriend needs this surgery very badly and we can't afford it in the states. Good reviews/bad reviews/your experience....all welcome!!!! Thank you!!!
  19. One of the biggest concerns I have about taking my boyfriend to get sleeved by Dr Illan is his surgical technique/expertise. I am 9 months post out from my sleeve and can eat quite a bit. I want to make sure he has great restriction. Have any Dr Illan patients here made it to goal?
  20. Yes please send me the contact! That sounds like a great experience and price!
