I drink diet coke and diet sprite almost daily. I drink it over ice and have no issues at all. I didn't do this surgery to become a complete health nut....I did it to help control my binge eating. And it's doing exactly that.

My surgeon considers your surgery a success if at 6 months post op you have lost 55-60% of our excess weight. As for a total, I think he considers 80% of excess weight loss to be done by his patients.

What's with rating personal profiles?
Jenny12 replied to katikati's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aside from the star rating, what in the world is the little green box to the right in the profiles that has a number and says things like "Good" and "Excellent". Where does that come from? -
Binge Eating Food Funeral
Jenny12 replied to crazeegl99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh dear, you have a little while to go before surgery time. I was lucky and had my consult and had surgery within the month. I had a severe food funeral going on!! I gained 6 pounds in just that one month. So I definitely understand where you are coming from. My only advice is to try to remember that the weight you gain now before surgery, will just put you even further behind once you are sleeved. If you can, start exercising and get on a better eating plan even if it isn't a super strict diet. I know you may feel like you will never eat these foods again and want to eat them while you can, but that isn't the case. I am only 11 weeks post op and I can eat everything that I was able to eat before surgery, just not as much. You can do this! -
Worried about flabby skin..
Jenny12 replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree about hydration....get your water in and use lotion! But also I believe exercise is the biggest helper when it comes to avoiding loose skin. I'm sure you'll look fabulous! And even if you end up with some flabby areas, there is always the option for a little nip/tuck. -
Any Vanderbilt Sleevers?
Jenny12 replied to mswanda9577's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nice to see some Nashvillians!! I personally had my surgery at Centennial, but you really can't go wrong with Vanderbilt! -

What Do I Need To Be Most Prepared For My VSG?
Jenny12 replied to DoubleA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Aaron!! You really aren't going to need a whole lot to take to the hospital with you. I would recommend maybe some slippers for walking up and down the halls, definitely ear plugs because all of the beeping from the machines almost made me lose my mind, and definitely your cell phone, iPad or laptop. Good luck! -
Taking medications after surgery
Jenny12 replied to penman53's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had to crush or half my pills or anything. I could swallow them whole, even ones that weren't necessarily small. No issues. But if your doc says you have to, maybe mix it in some sugar free jello or even a spoonful of sugar free syrup. -
4 weeks post op no weight list in a week
Jenny12 replied to staceysassygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much everyone experiences this at around this stage. Just hang in there and I promise you will start losing. Your body is going through a major adjustment. -
Ways friends/family can be helpful post surgery . .
Jenny12 replied to Carolina-Girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got around really easily once out of the hospital. Just having someone kind of wait on you hand and food for a few days is nice. But other than that, I didn't really need much help. Good luck! -
I just say a quick "thanks for noticing!" And change the subject quickly.
-
Just from my experience, I wasn't cleared by my exercise physiologist for all types of exercise until 6 weeks, and that is when I started using the Arc Trainer.

I was on them for quite a while and still felt the same as I do when I don't take them....no difference whatsoever unfortunately! -
2 new findings this week!
Jenny12 replied to Takingcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, it's great you learned that you may be overeating a little based on the food scale comment, and that cake and such are sliders. No biggie!! We have all tried them, it won't hurt ya every once in a while. good luck! -
quickly full but hungry every couple hours
Jenny12 replied to KimmieMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 11 weeks out and for the most part feel the same as you. I get full quickly but shortly after I am hungry all over again. -
I'm almost 3 months out. Anyone used laxatives at this point and had any issues?
-
I'm almost three months out, and I wouldn't necessarily say I regret it. I have lost nearly 40 pounds since Jan 9, so who could regret that?? however, I researched my butt off on this surgery before I went forward with it. I heard over and over "the sleeve is just a tool." I didn't pay much attention to this at the time. Now I realize it is 100% true. I am one of the ones who did not lose my hunger after surgery. My surgeon did NOT tell me this would be a possibility, so I thought it would be smooth sailing and the sleeve would do all the work. Wrong. I am hungry and can eat bad things if I want to, and when you are always hungry, it's easy to do that. It's an everyday battle to make the right choices. So, no regrets, but I wish I had really grasped the concept that this is only a tool and you're the one who makes it work or you're the one who makes it fail. Good luck!

Ate one slice of 7" pizza frm dominos! :)
Jenny12 replied to Plushie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3 months post op and can eat a piece of pizza no problem. If its thin crust, I can even eat two. I've had pizza 3 times since surgery. -
How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Jenny12 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering if anyone has tried this. Putting protein powder in diet sprite. Either a flavored protein powder, or also add a crystal light to it or something similar? -
How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Jenny12 replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to mix it SLOW (it can get very fizzy once mixed!!) but once it is all settled, yes it mixes well and tastes really good!! Just an extra fruity way for me to get my protein in I like the isopure idea too from some of you, but I drank so much of that right after my surgery that now even the thought of it is gross! But I am on the diet sprite and fruity drops with a scoop of protein powder kick now. -

How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Jenny12 replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, they don't, bubbles don't stretch your stomach. You burp if there is indeed excess air. i drink it over ice and have no issues. Honestly I think some surgeons just tell their patients to stay away from carbonated drinks because they are afraid us former fat people will start drinking sugary sodas again. Anyway, I tried this tonight for anyone interested. I used unflavored Unjury protein powder, diet sprite, and the wild berry Dasani flavored droplet thingies. Delicious!!! -
How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Jenny12 replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! The chocolate powder does sound pretty gross. I'm curious if a fruity flavored protein powder could make a diet sprite taste somewhat similar to a cherry limeade or something from sonic. Adding powder to anything other than sprite does sound gross to me too. -
How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Jenny12 replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who said I was going off plan!?! I'm simply asking about the flavor of mixing these two things together. I am not looking for an "attagirl" from you. Just because someone else' surgeon says they cannot have diet drinks does not mean that everyone's surgeon has the same guidelines. And that is the reason I'm not asking for anyone's permission to drink diet sprite. I'm curious of the flavors before I go and waste protein powder and the beverage.
