I began by going to my family doctor and getting my lab results that showed I was prediabetic. That was the eye opener, final straw that broke the camel's back. I knew I had to do something. Everything I tried in the past failed after loosing a small amount of weight. It was like a cycle- I ate too much of the wrong things, got depressed about my weight, ate to make myself feel better. This cycle repeated itself over and over and I got bigger and bigger and lived in this depressive black hole. What I had to realize is I did this to myself ...no one else was to blame but me. I drive my own boat and make my own decisions, so after asking alot of questions and doing some soul searching, I decided to get the lapband. We had just started our own lapband program and the hospital where I work, and I really liked the surgeon. Once I decided to get the surgery I had a strange calming feeling come over me. Like a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders. After getting all the per stuff done I got my date of November 7th 2012. The preop diet definitely will show you what your made of! Three shakes a day and water and that's it! I dropped 20 pounds during that two weeks. The surgery was easy, no pain at all. Got to my room at 1130 and was out the door at 1;30. My sister Jeannie and daughter Mandy came down for my surgery. My only regret? NOT DOING IT SOONER!
