  1. Mine said nothing other than no beer and no alcohol the first week.... Was debating only 1/2 glass tomorrow and tracking it. Not sure yet
  2. Everyone is different. You lose a lot before because your calories are very restricted. Right after you are healing so it slows down and then you just need to follow and it will be slower buy consistent and healthy
  3. 12 days 12 lbs . And I was allowed one real meal a day for dinner
  4. I am day 3 post op and today is the day that i have decided to beat myself up. How did I get to be 300lbs? How could I not do this on my own? How did it get to the point that I needed surgery and am laying here in pain right now and can't pick up my son? WTF is wrong with me? I am sure this will pass, but right now I am certainly having a pity party for 1!

    Brand new and freaking out....

I felt the same way a week ago when I got mine and can tell you I am day 6 post op now. I am not 100% but my pity party for 1 has needed. You can do this!!
  6. So much for taking it easy. I am 5 days post op, my left shoulder and whole left side is killing me with a stabbing pain (according to the dr this can be normal part port pain/ part gas pain). Anything I drink seems to get stuck and I feel like I will throw up (dr says this too is swelling) i hope so as it's getting old and I am not drinking near enough as I hate the feeling. But the real reason is that I just a hot mess right now. My husband (oddly the skinny one) had a heart attack yesterday and is still in the hospital. Had a stent put in today and hopefully will be home tomorrow. We also have a 3 yr old that now neither one of can pick up. My mom usually helps but as of 5 hours ago my dad was also rushed to the ER and has been admitted. So long story short I am really losing it! No pain meds as too much driving back and forth to hospitals. I guess there are only two bright spots 1) I can't take my stress out on food or wine and 2) my husband will now have to follow a healthier diet in 2013 with me. However I need to have some Protein shakes this week as I am too busy running around and has literally had 300 calories in 4 days. Sorry for the long post, needed to vent!

    Really losing it

Thanks everyone for all the words of encouragement. Thankfully my husband came home a short while ago with a fistful of meds and the desire to eat and be healthier. Once again dispelling the myth that skinny does not = healthy! And my dad is still in the hospital but they thankfully ruled out a heart attack so that parts good Actually chewed food for the first time today so that's a big step! Had a whooping 3 carrot pieces from my husbands Soup, but thus far ok. Thanks again as this board has been a tremendous help! Separate question- in the mushy stage do you just eat the tuna salad or chilli or do you have to blend them too? Any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated!!

    Really losing it

Thanks. I wish a had someone around to drive me to and from especially as my husband is 60 miles away as he had the heart attack at work. Thanks for the wise words too as today I will make sure to at least pack some Protein shakes for me for the day. Hopefully my husband can come home so we can both start/continue to heal.

    Pain on my left side

Banded 12-14. And most likely it's port pain that feels like a pulled muscle mine started yesterday at post op day 4. Hang in there
  10. Last night I started getting this unbelievable pain on my left side (not the shoulder pain), but a piercing pain on the side midway between my waste and chest. Anyone else experience this? I had my follow up with my dr yesterday and put aside my fears on all other pain as normal post op, but this happened hours after my appt. any help anyone could lend would be greatly appreciated!!

    Is This Normal?

Thanks. None of my pharmacies sell it. The 12 yr old pharmacist at my CVS basically laughed at me when I asked if the sell it. I checked 6 others too. Guess I will begin an on line quest to find. Thanks!!

    Is This Normal?

Where do you find the liquid ibuprofen??? I can only find children's- is that what you use? And if so how much? If not, where do you did it? Any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated
  13. Quite sure this is normal and hopefully not too much information. I am three days out and overall I do feel pretty good. But i still feel like there is a giant lump in the middle of my throat (not like I have to throw up although at some times it feels that way), had diarrhea this am and the site where the port is certainly hurts the most and overall I am just achy. Again, I am quite sure this is normal and have seen posts where people are far worse then I am, but never hurts to check. My dr pretty much has me on zero protein for week 1 is that normal too?
  14. Thanks!! Appreciate the prompt response!

    Dec 14 In New Jersey

It gets better. That's why I wanted to come home last night. Nothing like sleeping at home. Plus with everything that happened in CT yesterday I needed to come home and hug my baby!
  16. You will make the right decision for you. I knew cutting me open and removing or re-routing anything was not the choice for me. It works wonderfully, but just not for me. Enjoy the journey!
  17. So dr's orders are plenty of liquids but only 1-2 ounces in. 15 minute time frame. Anyone else have this? I find myself parched and I am really trying to take the dr's orders seriously. So help would be nice He also has virtually no Protein listed on the sheet other than drinkable yogurt - any high protein suggestions there? Thanks Susan
  18. Had mine Friday and so far so good!
  19. Depends solely on your insurance. Mine wouldn't let you skip

    Day 1 post op question

    Thanks. Just looking for confirmation.
  21. I am 5'3 with a BMI of 55. My Dr initially was pushing by pass for me as well. We talked a lot especially about my concerns with being opened up etc and lap band was the only route I was going to take. Not going to lie be said it would be harder to go this route, but trust me I am ready for the challenge. Too early to tell as I am only 20 hours out do surgery, but I did what I knew was best for me! Hoping you do the same
