I was banded in early November 2012. I have only 2.5cc in my 10cc band. I have lost almost 40 pounds. I have never had full restriction as some speak about on this forum and feel that I am dieting. I have to watch my intake since I have never really had full restriction. To be realistic, I think that ultimately I will have to always watch my intake. If I continue down the path that I am on, I will continue to slowly lose weight. I have my monthly appointment with my surgeon next month. I am going to ask his opinion but wonder if I should get a fill or continue to diet? Thoughts?

Eating in the evening...
papajsk replied to papajsk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank You Missy for your feedback. I do agree that filling up my band to the fullest is not going to solve my problem. I know that my issue is a behavior that I have to work at and change. Some days are better for me than others. I have to go back to the original seminar that I attended on the Lap Band and that it is just a tool to assist us with our weight loss and maintenance. I am not much on taking baths but I like the brushing the teeth idea. I am going to brainstorm some other ideas that might work as well. Thanks Again! -
I was banded on 11-05-12 and am down 33 lbs. I only have 1.5 cc of fill in my band. I do fine all day long at work but once I get home from work I seem to transform back into my "old habits". I certainly cannot each like I used to and I am maintaining my weight because of my daily exercise routine. I really feel that the issue is more about controlling my behavior in the evening hours before I go to bed. Perhaps if I have more fill in my band that might help? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Bonman77 - What's even stranger is after reading your profile... You are I are almost the same age and our height and weight (at time of banding is the same)!! I am 57 and I also knit and this weekend picked up some new yarn thinking that might help me. I do exercise regularly walk, elliptical and swim and that is how I am maintaining my weight but like I said I would like to lose at least 30 more pounds. I am going to keep working at it and try taking one day at a time! -

Jean - Sorry to hear about the issues with the silent reflux. I am newly banded (11-05-12) and so far so good. Going into this, I did not realize the importance of making good food choices. I have read your book and remember you talking about the "honeymoon" phase. Well, the honeymoon is over for me!! Agree that the band works IF you work it! -

Just curious why you were sleeved on 08-16-12. Did you have issues with your band? -
I also have UHC and had to go through the 6 month diet. It goes really fast. I was also afraid of losing too much weight so I did not even try to lose because I was right at the low limit in weight/height. I did go in for a sleep Apnea study and they found that I had sleep apnea so that declared me with having a co-morbidity. I was banded on Nov 5th, 2012 and have lost 30 lbs without any fill in my band! I wish I would have had this procedure when I was much younger!!!!! I considered it in my younger years but thought that I could do it on my own - wrong!!! Good Luck to You!!!

Agree that unjury is an awesome Protein choice. It's 20Grams of protein the power alone, plus an additional 8 mixed with skim milk! http://www.unjury.com Give it a try!

I like unjury. I also like Chike but it is not bariatric specific. Our nurse practitioner suggest using the Protein specifically for bariatric patients. -
The # 1 Lesson I Learned from my Band
papajsk replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally agree and thanks for sharing! -
I have been banded since Nov 5th. The first night after my surgery, I had reflux and heartburn so I called my surgeon's office and they removed about 3ccs from the band. I continued to have gastric issues 5 days post op so I asked the surgeon to remove all of my fill. I have lost 21 pounds at my 4 week visit and am still losing (slowly)... I do not have any restriction and I do not have any issues now. It seems lately like I can eat more at each sitting (more than the recommended 1 cup). I have my next follow-up appointment on January 4th, 2013. Thoughts on getting a fill even if I am still losing?
