I have UHC, and they told me usually 3-5 days to find out. Good luck! I'm still waiting. Hoping to hear today! -

No Kristikay, I am supposed to mix with water. Really a bummer. I get less than 400 calories a day. The dietician said they are literally starving you to shrink your liver. Day 6 today, I can do this! Thanks everyone!! -
I did the same thing today. I am 5 days preop and ate tomatoes. We just have to get back to it. It will all be alright!
-
Congratulations! I hope to hear on mine tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!

I take 75 mcg's of levothyroxine a day. The surgeon has never said anything about my weight loss being any slower. Hopefully not!! Good luck...... -

I am on my 5th day of preop diet. Mine consiste of 4-5 of the Carnation Breakfast Essentials Sugar Free. You can have crystal lite, or anything that would be sugar free and caffeine free (like those things you add to water). I can have 1 cup of sugar free jello and 1-2 sugar free popsicles. I just wish I could have broth. But, my dietician says there is too much sodium in them before surgery I would feel so much better if I could. Good luck! I am also waiting on insurance approval. It was submitted to insurance Friday. The insurance coordinator emailed me this morning saying that it had been received and that it had been sent to the nurse for review. She will call back again tomorrow. Hope I'm not doing this preop diet only to get denied. -

Can you not call the number on the back of your insurance card? That's the only number I have. -

Oh sorry! You spoke with the nurse with your insurance company? What was their reason for the denial? -

All of them are different. It depends on your employer. Have you talked to your insurance to see what the requirements are? -

I am 55 and scheduled for surgery Feb 21. They submitted for insurance approval yesterday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get approved quickly since I am already scheduled. We don't have much time for appeals. I am having my surgery in Owasso, Ok. Good luck to everyone! -

They told me there was a 5 year history required. That's crazy that they can't get their story straight. My insurance was submitted yesterday. I am really keeping my fingers crossed. I am nervous as heck.....Good luck!! -

First day of pre-op diet
oklafarmgal replied to Zanygirl83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started mine this past Saturday. My diet consists of 4-5 Carnation Breakfast Essentials, sugar free of course. Then, fill in with water and crystal lite. I would love to have broth, but it's not on my list. I get sick of the sweet stuff all the time. I have to do this until my tentative surgery date of the 21st. They kind of slid me into a spot for surgery. I wasn't prepared for such a quick date. I didn't even get my good "last supper" Maybe it's better that way. Lol.....The first day I was really hungry, but it was better yesterday. I hope each day gets better. Good luck to you. I just had to think that Friday night was the heaviest I was ever going to weigh again. Yea!! Pretty good incentive to stick with it. Good luck!! -

I have the same requirement with UHC. I would just meet with the surgeon and discuss this. My surgeon's office said that with this requirement the insurance company is just wanting to make sure you didn't weight 150 pounds last year and all of a sudden shot up. Have you had all your preop testing done? If not, you may not know of any comorbidities that you might have. I didn't know I had sleep apnea until I took my sleep study test. If your surgeon doesn't think you will qualify, I don't think they will put you through all the testing. That's the best way to start. Good luck.... -
Anyone use Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso Oklahoma?

Welcome webblarsk! It's always nice to talk to someone local. Do you have a preop diet, too? How is yours going if you do? I wasn't hungry this morning (day 2 of preop) but I had the headache from h**l!! Hopefully things will get better. Lol.....
