How do you balance your social life?

Just order the appetizers. They come in smaller portions & better then ordering a BIG meal. People snack on appetizers so this will allow you to pick & in between conversation you can enjoy yourself as well. This is what I do. I've been banded since 12/22/10 with revision of a new band on 2/11/14. 109.2 lbs gone. Loving Me some Me

    I NEED HELP

Best advise Call your Doctor/Surgeon/Bariatric Nurse. We can all give you advise, & assumptions, but your Doctor knows you best. Call them, no question is a stupid one, that's what they're there for. Best of luck to you.

    Re-Banding Surgeries

Well, Well, Well, God Looks Out!!!!! I had my new LapBand put in yesterday 2/11/14 & all went well. I have NO gas or shoulder pain whatsoever. Just sore around incision sites. So on the real notes the difference between being banded 12/22/10 & 2/09/14 is that 2nd time around I knew what to expect. Also, I have less soreness this time, but never any gas or shoulder pain either times, in fact I've spoken to several patients in the waiting room & at seminars throughout the 3yr span & not one of them complained of Gas or shoulder pain. One of the Nurses stated that it's most likely because the Surgeons in this group elevate the patients during surgery so the gases don't get trapped. Well to all my Banded Brothers & Sisters Good luck on your lifetime journeys & stay focused.
  4. I was originally Banded in December 2010. I'm being Re-Banded on 2/09/14. Any other 2nd time Banders out there?

    Re-Banding Surgeries

I think ins covered it because it's considered as a mechanical malfunction. Even with band filled to almost the max 10cc. I'm still hungry with no satisfaction of feeling full. Also on the X-ray while Doctor watching me swallow the barium, it just flowed straight through. So right then & there he knew I wasn't exaggerating.

    Re-Banding Surgeries

Yes Aetna pays 100%. I was approved within a week. I had my choice of the Sleeve or another Band & being that I've done so well with it (102 lbs) lost. I chose to be banded again. Plus I know how the band works with my body, & what to expect. The slippage & how it happened I think I can avoid again. We all learn from our mistakes.

    Re-Banding Surgeries

My Band slipped in June 2012. They took all fluid out & although band went back into place it just didn't act the same. I just can't get to that green zone again. This is very common after a slippage.

    Stuck, just stuck! Help

I was banded 12/22/10 down 102lbs. I'm having my Band replaced 2/11/14 because it hasn't (the band) been right since it slipped in June 2012. My surgeon offered me the Sleeve but I'm comfortable with the band & not ready for my organs to be cut away & removed.
  16. Congrats to you & much success on your new journey.

BMI 38 they want 40. is that IT for me...am i DONE?

Your BMI does not have to be 40. New rules for 2014. There are several ins companies that changed this old fashioned rule.

BMI 38 they want 40. is that IT for me...am i DONE?

My BMI was 36. I was denied & that same day I wrote Oxford a 2 page appeal letter pleading my case. I faxed a copy to them & also mailed it. 7 days later I was approved. You pay for your ins not the Doctors. You have to fight for what you truly believe. Go to the internet & type "appeal letters to insurance companies" it gives you several samples. Copy one or two then add your own truthful wording to it. The insurance companies want to hear from you, not only the requesting physician.Good luck

what's the longest with the band

I having my band replaced on 2/11/14. I was originally banded on 12/22/10. I slipped last summer & although it went back into place, it's not doing what it's supposed to & my surgeon said I can get the Sleeve or get a new band. I lost 102 lbs with the band & know how it works with my body so the band it is.
  23. I am 3 yrs out & having my band replaced on 2/11/14. I was fine but was sick with a stomach virus last summer & vomited twice & that was enough to slip my band. All fluid was removed for a month until it went back into place. Since then I've been up & down with the fills & just can't get back to my sweet spot (green zone). My Surgeon said that after a slip the band is never/most of the time never back into the correct spot. He suggested the sleeve, but I preferred to give a NEW band a try. I've lost 102 lbs with it & know how it works with my body so I'm giving it another go. Best wishes to you & don't give up.
