what is allowed in the pre op liquid diet

HI there, I am on day 10 of my 14 day Opti fast liquid diet (my op next tuesday). I am allowed the Opti fast shakes (nothing else because they are the only ones apparently that are a complete Meal Replacement with all Vitamins and minerals) plus tea or coffee with skim milk in moderation. In addition if i get desperate i am allowed low fat yoghurt or salad with no dressing (ie only vegetables). I have survived - though cant say i love it!. Day 1-4 worst - hungry, tired and cranky. Stick with it day 5 seemed to settle down. I hate the taste of the shakes so i put a lot of ice in it and make it so cold that it has no flavour. Tried the Soups and nearly puked - did not persist with them. Try and keep busy and then you wont think about it. had a bit of a panic attack 2 nights ago about how close the surgery was and i wanted to eat everything in the house - realised that this is precisely the type of eating i was trying to address with the band and had a cup of tea instead. did not resolve the panic but it helped to think that i was starting to change my ways. The best advice i can give is cross the days off a calendar and know that you are suffering for a good cause!. Good luck with the diet and the op. In the end i know it will be worth it!.

    Celebrities With Lap Band

Also Star Jones- she also got crap when she told people it was just diet and exercise. what she said was in fact true - she just had the benefit of the tool that is the band! Also I think Roseanne Barr (or she may have been bypass)
  3. Hi there from Australia. I am booked to be banded on 18 Dec. Start 2 week Optifast pre op diet next week. I have been trawling the web for anything to do with the lap band. I want to share with you my two new lap band heroes that i love from you tube. First is bandedwendy - she is like the good angel that sits on your shoulder and yells like a drill sergeant into you ear about sticking to the lap band rules! The second is lizlovesherlapband. Liz is very real - and is Australian. Liz tells you what is really like living with a lapband. Her posts about the week post surgery have given me real confidence. Both of these women have been very successful and are real inspirations to me. Do you have any heroes to recommend ? I am looking for as much info as i can get.

    December Bandwagon Supporters

Hi there I am being banded on 18 Dec. I can't wait it seems it is all I can think of! I don't care that I can't eat Christmas dinner or anything. I see this as my present to myself I have not told anyone close. Can't bear the judgment. I do that enough to myself. Looking forward to keeping up with all your results. Btw. I am in Australia so different time zone to all of you.
