11 Days Post Op...serious Sharp Stabbing Pain When I Bend Over
siddigrl replied to siddigrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is severe enough to take my breath and cause me to cry out. It has eased off now. I don't know if that is good or bad. My dr's office has been closed due to the holidays. I guess I will just deal with it until they open back up. -
I have not had a fill, I was banded on Nov 8th. I started soft foods on Thurs. I am not able to eat them without pain followed by hiccups. But, I was on liquids from Oct 21st-Nov 22nd. So, maybe my body is having trouble adjusting to normal food? I ate mashed potatoes and I felt like I was choking. Again, I don't even have a fill yet. Could I be having issues because I just have not ate anything but liquids for a month?

11 Days Post Op...serious Sharp Stabbing Pain When I Bend Over

I was banded on the 8th. When I bend over while making the bed, picking up things, sitting down...I have a severe stabbing pain on my left side. It is intense enough to take my breath. Is that my port? Is this normal? How long before this pain stops? -
My follow up is tomorrow. I am laying here with an ice pack on my left side...that is where the pain is the worst, but there is a knot there. Could that be the port? Maybe I am just experiencing pain where the port was placed. I am supposed to start the full liquids by now and I am happy for that. Maybe some of the creamier soups will be more filling and that will curb my appetite some.

I am feeling paranoid and worried. Tomorrow is full liquids. Should I just drink the Bariatric Advantage protein shakes?
-
I have not had any problems drinking or anything. It is almost as if I never got the band. My stomach is tender from the cuts, but again I have not noticed any restrictions. I have been able to drink easily since the day of surgery. Is that bad? Maybe the band was not placed properly? I don't think it has any fill at all...they just banded me. I am hungry, even now on day 6. I have been hungry since the day of surgery. So...apparently, that is not normal? What is the difference? I have lost 15lbs because I have just been on clear liquids. Aside from the physical discomfort due to the incisions, I feel no different and have not noticed any difference in what happens when I eat or drink. Something must be wrong?

Milk After Lap Band Surgery ?
siddigrl replied to jenlyn122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mixed whole with 1%... until I got down to drinking just the 1%. Now, I can't stand whole milk. It tastes like I am drinking Crisco. -
I feel bloated. The potato chunks got through ok apparently. I haven't had any discomfort or pain from eating it. I am going to stick closer to the diet though and avoid chunks because I don't want to loosen the stitches from the band and cause it to slip. I am going to thin out some cream of chicken soup with some broth so it is not so thick and sip on it. Congrats on your banding by the way!!

I am really excited about being here. I hope to find a lot of support. I was banded on Thurs Nov 8th. I am having some complications. My stomach is tender, I can't lay down, and I am hungry! But, I am going to fight through this. I understand that I may not feel any restriction with the band until the 3rd fill. I am trying hard to stick with the clear/full liquids. I cheated a little this morning with a couple of bites of pudding and a couple of bites of potato salad, with chunks. I did not "feel" any problems with the potato chunks....so far. Maybe I could try blending potato salad in a blender with a tiny bit of milk to make it soupy? Just a thought. I have to find way to curb this hunger until I get fills that work. Anyone else have problems with being hungry less than a week after banding?

When Will I Notice Something? When Did You, And What Was It?
siddigrl replied to barb rah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Thurs of last week, 6 days ago. I weighed...against the rules, but I was curious. I have lost 15 pds. I am really swollen though, and my stomach is very tender. So, I am not having the wow or yes factor at all right now. I can't wait to reach that point though. I imagine it to be at least 6 months down the road. -
Well, today is day 6 post-banding. I am feeling a little guilty this morning because I ate two bites of pudding and potato-salad with tiny chunks of potato. That is a big no-no. I have an appetite now for the first time since the surgery...but I feel like I am starving to death. I want to eat everything in sight. I have notice no resistance. But, they claim you won't start feeling resistance until about your third fill. I have not even had my first. I am going to go back to clear liquids for the remainder of the day and possibly tomorrow. After that, I will begin cream soups mixed with some broths. I think the first several days of not being able to eat at all has thrown my body into starvation mode. That may be the reason for the extreme hunger today. I did not even feel like drinking broth for days and had to force myself to sip on water. I hope this becomes less of a chore.
