I was given Rx for Nexium, Roxicete and this nasty liquid called sucralfate. The sucralfate is horrible!!! It tastes like liquified chalk. It's supposed to prevent ulcers. I'm supposed to take it four times a day. I'm lucky to gag it down once or twice. I also went home with a Rx for Lovenox because I have a blood clotting disorder so I get to give myself a shot in the belly every day for my first four weeks post op.

I got the chocolate truffle and vanilla bean torte. Also got the unflavored to mix with Jello and stuff.

I have not but I may try their sample pack. I bought the Syntrax to start with. Tastes good and dissolves well. Just having trouble with anything cold right now.

My dad is coming to get me on his way home from work. Gonna visit with him and my mom for a while. Then he's going to take me grocery shopping for some things people have suggested like condensed soups and Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Oh. And I'm a little concerned. Anything with protein powder added is not sitting very well with me. I had no problem with protein shakes pre op but now they're all coming right back up.

Anyone else have coughing fits if they lay down? I feel like I'm producing extra saliva and end up coughing it up. Making sleeping way hard.

I'm 5 days post op.

This may be TMI but, I finally pooped!!! Wasn't much but it's a start!!! Maybe everything is waking up finally!!!
-
I took my iPhone, iPad, toothbrush, face wash, lotion, lip balm, deodorant, slippers, and my pillow. Hospital pillows are terrible. I also packed yoga pants, tshirt and sports bra to wear home.

I'm getting the gas trapped in my chest too. A heating pad right between the girls has been a lifesaver for me today. I'm finally keeping liquids down. I'm 5 days post op. My NUT said take tiny tiny sips like you're sipping hot soup every ten seconds all day. I feel like its a full time job.

Seems that a heating pad in the middle of my chest is helping the spasms and burping some. I also may be taking 4-6 long hot showers a day. One of the few things making me relax and feel better. I don't think I will make it back to work Thursday like I planned.

Well I thought I kept the protein shake down. 2.5 hours later it has reared it's ugly head. I hope it was just too thick to make it thru to the intestines and I'm not blocked. Ugh.

I finally peed again!!! I'm so relieved!!! Now to try and get some protein in. I also finally farted. Sorry for the tmi. They were way little lame farts but its a start.

They told me to take it slow and sip every ten seconds. Said it sounds like I have a lot of gas a mucus to try and get thru. Suggested some milk with 1/2 the recommended protein powder to try to get some good natural sugar too. Suggested I freeze it and eat it like a Frosty. If I can't hold things down they'll want me to go in for IV fluids because I haven't urinated since this morning.

I have a call in to the dietician about my spitting everything back up. I'm really worried. Only holding down about half of what I'm putting in.
-
Is it true dairy can have a calming effect on the stomach? I'm wondering if I should try a little protein powder with milk if it does. These spasms are for the birds.

Trying some room temp crystal light again. Keeping about half if it down. Going to try some tea once it cools off a bit. Anything hot or cold seems really irritating. Burping up a storm still. Ugh.
-
Woke up with a puddle of foamy spit up on my pillow. Now I keep coughing something fierce. Ugh.
-
Tried chicken broth again and it still came up. I think I may be having bouts or productive burping!? It happens when I feel like I have air stuck and it comes up looking foamy laced with saliva. I'd kill for a Protein shake with some milk but I don't know if it would soothe or make things worse. Other than the spitting up, I'm up and moving around and fine without pain meds. Just feel a little tight in the belly. Felt so good to take a shower and chill out on my own furniture.
-
I can't even imagine being hungry yet. I can hardly get fluids in. I feel like there's just no room. Going to try some warm broth and see if it maybe calms down my pouch. It's being a grouchy pouch.

I'm home and feeling good other than I had some hot tea get stuck again. I'm going to try some room temp crystal light water and see if I tolerate that better. My surgeon said try different temperatures until these spasms stop.
