No not at all! I always get a little lidocaine first to numb my port area slight pinch then don't feel anything else. My first couple fills were under fluro which makes it more accurate when placing needle in port. Congrats on your band and make sure you drink without any problems before you leave.

Our eyes can be deceiving!! Smart of you to think to weigh it. I remember going to DD in the fall when they had pumpkin spice coffee and one day I looked it up and it was 200+ calories I wanted to cry lol so I improvised with sf pumpkin cream just as good. Thanks for sharing..wish we had a tcby in PA.

I also have no restriction on caffeine. If I can remember I think post op I wasn't allowed for a couple weeks. I love coffee drink at least five cups a day. Evenings I switch to decaf only so I can sleep. I was at the mall Saturday and I smelled coffee, I mean good coffee lol. I seen the shop went in and ordered small coffee. I seen this board saying sugar free syrups. So I thought ill try chocolate. Well I thought I died and went to hershey heaven!! Enjoyed every swallow. Fortunately malls 30 mins away lol. It was a satisfying treat for me although I know sf I wldnt make a habit of it. -
Maybe try some 4x4's underneath bra or something soft cotton? I seen on the box of always panti liners you can put them under bra to keep moisture from sweating. I wish you a speedy recovery!!

I m seeing surgeon tomorrow per my request to talk abt getting slight fill. Last fill November I'm at 7cc. Im at goal. Just want to maintain at this point. So why do I want a fill? I can eat more than a cup sometimes cup and a half no more than that. I don't have to chew chew chew or put down fork. I chew like before sx when I'm not feeling restriction. I can go usually three to four hrs before I'm hungry. I guess I'm looking for the greenzone. I don't feel I'm there. It's more my head telling me stop than my band and its worked for me so far. I want that feeling of that I don't think of food and let my band tell me I'm full like I have after a fill.

Cld be water weight or that time of month? Don't beat yourself up. Are you weighing same time each day? Every night I'm 2-3 lbs more than I was that morning. You ve done awesome just gotta not let that get ya down and keep doing what u are its worked so far! -
I have bcbs required six month diet and wanted me to lose 10% of body weight. Seen nut once a month. I learned better food choices, portion sizing, etc. I lost thirty pounds. I was afraid to get weighed the last month because I was afraid my bmi wld be less than 35 so what I did was wear 2.5 weights on each ankle and dressed in the heaviest clothing I had and the scale didn't budge from last weigh in. Im not proud of what I did but I wasn't going to be denied after six months. I know the six month diet helped me post op and to this day. Having said all that I cldnt of lost and keep the weight off without my band. So even if your not losing carry what you learned foward and best wishes.

I drink more coffee now than I ever did. Probably 5-6 cups a day with sugar free creamer. I count those calories. I try to drink decaf as much as possible. I had steady weight loss so it hasn't affected mine however I m trying to cut back cuz I know too much caffeine not good for me!

I eat fruit at least two times a day. Apples, pineapple, strawberries and banannas. All fresh fruit. My nut states the sugar is all natural and ok to have. Apples are only 80 calories and strawberries and pineapple around 40 for half cup. I often put sugar free or ff coolwhip on them for a snack! I lost over 100 pounds in 8 months. It's a balance of different food groups.

After a fill for me I have good restriction however it seemed after I'd lose about 12-15 pounds it seemed my restriction became less and less and I'd go in for a fill abt every six weeks. My last fill was three months ago and I am at my goal but my restriction is somewhat less than before so I'm going for a "tweek" on wed and hopefully that will be last for a long time. It seems when I lost I became less restricted and since I have this little tool I'm going to take full advantage of it. My Dr also states you do lose small amts of fluid overtime.

Fills don't irritate the band or harm the band itself but can cause some temporary swelling that's why the liquid diet for 24 hrs. Your only getting one cc at a time and your hungry with one cup of food and your weight loss is slower I wld go with your drs advice. Everyones weight loss is different. It's nice that you have your daughter to talk with and help you with your journey. It's a slow process but well worth the wait.!

How much are you getting each time you get filled? Did you have some put in during sx? I got filled abt every six weeks 1 or 2cc at a time. It was my choice to ask for the fill and my doc was ok with that. Are you losing weight? There are no right or wrong ways. Each Dr does things different. I knew when I was ready and you know your body so listen to what it tells you.

600 calories is low in my opinion the minimum I was told was 800 and that was pre and post op. I stayed on 1200 after healing phase and had a wt loss of 2-3 lbs a week. Increase your fluids that may help but in agreement with everyone else see your nutritionist you may also have low blood sugar.

I'm just wondering when I read these posts that some of you guys get .2 cc or .3 cc fill or unfill it makes a huge difference. My Dr does not fill like this he only does a full 1cc or 2cc at a time. I'm a nurse and when I look at .1cc its such a small amt so I'm just curious how that makes a difference in the band? By no means am I saying this in a negative way I'm just wondering if I shld suggest maybe a half cc next time I need a fill.

I'm a newbie and I have a few questions

Congrats sounds like your doing well..for me getting stuck is after swallowing too big of a bite so after swallowing..relief comes after passing thru the band. Restriction for me is being full and staying full on a cup of food and it lasting at least four hrs till next meal...sounds like your there! When I get a fill its because I'm not full on a cup of food and get hungry in less than four hrs. In my experience it seemed after I lost weight each month around ten lbs I wld feel less restricted and would get a fill approximately every 4-5 wks. I've been at maintenance weight for abt six weeks hadn't had a fill in abt two months and I still feel good restriction. Good luck on a successful journey sounds like your going great! -
How can a .01 cc actually make a difference ??

Thanks gals for all your input I learn something new every day on the forums -
I can only speak for myself been banded since May and I still have that problem lol..doesn't matter where I'm at and sometimes it just comes out unexpectedly!

Ok B 52...What the band has done for me is to be full on small amounts of food. When doing weight watchers if I have 30 points a day I would use them up even if I wasn't physically hungry I knew I had them points and I made sure I used every one. If I cheated or ate to much I convince myself I could restart next week and that would turn into next month etc. My experience with the band is that I'm full longer with less food. My band reminds me that I ate to fast and slow down. My band also reminds me that liquids make me feel full. My band makes it physically hard to over eat. My band sends me my signal which is a soft Burp that I'm full.

I was banded May 7 2012 preop wgt 270 current wt 160. After much research I choose the band because I felt it was the safest weight loss surgery. I'm 47 had htn, elevated cholesterol, elevated trigs, and pre diabetic. I wanted to get off these meds and also wanted to be able to look in the mirror and like what I seen. I was aggressive with my fills. My Dr was ok with that. When someone asks how did I lose weight my answer is I watch what I eat, I exercise and I had lapband sx. My opinion is if I didn't change my lifestyle first then I wouldn't of been successful with the band. The band only signals that I had enough to eat but it doesn't know what I was eating that I had enough off. The six month preop diet was key to my success I changed most of my habits then which in turn helped me now. Happy Superbowl Sunday!

I don't really do anything different post band other than I'm more aware of my next bite rather than shoveling my food down before I'm done swallowing what I already have in my mouth. I seldom get stuck and when I do its due to old habits.

I consulted with a plastic surgeon and he said my ins shld cover. I was a 46 DD before sx. I lost 110 lbs at maintenance stage now and now I'm 38 c. They look the same as before saggy but not full if you know what I mean. He said if i still have back pain and still get indent marks on shlder that will qualify me. Just had unexpected back sx so maybe this summer will look further into it. Just a FYI I had my yearly mammogram today and since weight loss they had to take extra pics to get a new baseline something I wld of not thought to tell technician but she noticed weight loss and said that makes a difference when radiologist reads films.
