Pass the Small Fork...
pinkcess replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't even had surgery yet, but made the switch to toddler-sized plates, bowls, forks, spoons, bites, and portions about a month ago! It wasn't hard because I have 2 small children at home so I used their stuff at first. Then went out and saw monsters inc silverware and bought 2 sets, I liked them so much. I love boo I don't feel silly at all. I think it's cool to use kid stuff. -
I had to do a 3 month diet. I'm on month 2 and have barely lost any weight.

How does this work, again?
pinkcess replied to Uncle Ted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really understand how the band keeps you from feeling hungry if it doesn't keep food in the pouch. I guess I need to read too. -

I honestly never thought bandsters would be so catty. I've been hanging around this site for a few weeks now, and I almost really don't even like it anymore.

I'd ask your doc, he's an educated man too. Put it to the test! -
I don't understand... I have tricare prime and I thought it was pretty easy to get an approval from them. What was the problem... Why did they reverse? This makes me nervous considering I have the same insurance!

General Pre Lapband Questions...
pinkcess replied to ky1985's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! Im in the process if getting ready for lap band too. I'm also 27 and have high blood pressure and some other things. My insurance and surgeon require several things be done before surgery... A 3 month dr supervised diet, an EDG/stomach scope, sleep study, psych eval, nutritionist appointment, information seminar, and a pre-op support group visit. Im hoping to be banded in February. Fingers crossed -
Was anyone required to get an IVC filter put in before surgery? My surgeon wants it to be done but the more I research it, the less I like the idea of it.

Psych Eval This Afternoon, Not Sure What To Expect.
pinkcess replied to tiggergramma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My psych eval was a waste of time. I never met with a psych. I just took about 7 tests and was told they'd make a report. Yeah ok. -
I have to say that everyone on this thread is very kind hearted. I had a child moo at me one day and I bent down and whispered all kinds of sweet words in her ear... Ok, they weren't too sweet. I can't stand trashy, bratty children. And this incident would definite fuel me to lose weight. Good luck girl! And congrats on raising a sweet boy!

Yeah. I do NOT want this thing in my body. I've had gallbladder surgery and 2 c sections and never needed one of those, never had issues with my blood at all, always recover from surgeries well and stay active during recovery. Personally I feel no need for this thing. I also read that it's implicated for BMI over 55 and mine is 49. I'm scared if I refuse this thing that my surgeon won't do the surgery

They let me take my tylenol pm that I normally take

One of the requirements from my surgeon is that I attend a WLS support group before surgery. I did... And it was interesting. So many people had great success, and also some complications along the way. But it raised a lot of questions in my mind. There was only one lap bander in the group, the rest were gastric bypass. The lap bander told her story and started with "it was a very long road, and took a lot of determination..." then started ticking off the things that Lapbanders didn't get to enjoy... No dumping to keep them off sweets. No full feeling, always hungry. Is this true? Do gastric bypass patients feel less hungry than lap band patients? If I'm going to continue feeling hungry all the time, why even get lap band? Is this lady exaggerating?

pinkcess replied to pinkcess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone! Today I am feeling very encouraged! I think it's best to take the nourishment from support groups and throw out the stuff you don't need! -
