I am trying to decide if I want my band removed or have a new one put in. My band has been slipped for a year. I have acid reflux again, which probably means it has slipped more. Over the last year I have gained 20 lbs. back. I don't know what I want to do...I am afraid if I get a new one same thing will happen again. I am completely depressed over the entire situation. Does anybody know if it is a higher risk of slippage for second banding? My husband does not want me to have another one.. actually most people in my family does not. They have seen what I have gone through. I am about 50lbs overweight. My husband likes chunky women...I ask him whats wrong with him. If I really buckle down I could lose the weight.. You know its a constant struggle all the time. I tired of it. I feel like giving up. The other part of me is like I can do it myself...spring is coming and I will be taking long walks with my husband. All I need is to kick myself in the butt....Ive done it before. Would like to hear from people who are and have been in my situation. Oh I have kept 55lbs off. The gaining of 20lbs was my fault...I felt really sick and extremely tired from losing 75lbs in 5 months. I feel much better. I keep going back and forth... please I like some input.

Thank you for your input...I am concerned about scar tissue, I hope that nothing is messed up since it has been slipped for a year.

:smile2: It has been a long time since I have visited this site....I was basically bummed out about my lap-band. I was banded in 6/06, I had an aggressive dr who filled my band to tight. 4cc band, first fill 2 cc, second fill I went up to 3cc within months of getting my band. Lost lots of weight, 75 lbs in less then 6 months. Unfortuantly by band slipped. Unfilled, try filling again always slipped. My doctor told me since I only had 25 lbs to lose try on my own. that is like asking the cat to watch the canary. I honestly did try, went through the whole thing with 6, 7 different diets, which always failed in past and failed again. I actually gained weight from these diets. At the time my doctor did not want to fix my band, even thought is was moving up and down my stomache. It has been a year and 20lbs heavier, (which if I didnt have a band I probally would of gained more). I am fed up...angry....would like to meet my doctor in a dark alley somewhere...just kidding, ok only partially. I want my band fixed, it is the only control I have over eating. I dont just eat... I really enjoy food. :tt1: The taste, the texture... I know.. Im crazy. My senses, tasting, hearing, smelling and seeing are excellent (my children could get away with nothen...gotcha) I am seeing my doctor again on monday, I have acid reflux again...band is completely unfilled for about a year. If I have to get my doctor in a headlock I will. I want my band fixed. Has anybody gone through this with there doctor? She acts like to doesnt want to be bothered with me, I am not her star patient anymore...Even my regular doctor doesnt understand why doesnt want to fix this problem.. bummed out...........

:phanvan First of all I would like to say this is a wonderful site. I have learned more about my band in the last couple of weeks than I thought possible. Until then I had felt pretty much alone. I was banded on 6/8/06, I found out on 8/19/07 that my band has slipped. I go back to the doctors in two weeks. I feel very uneasy sitting around here with my band like this.. concern that it can slip more if that is possible. Does anyone know if I am supposed to be doing liquids? Dr. told me to eat low fat so I dont gain any weight back... My band looks like it slipped a few inches down on my stomach and is straight across. Until this, I had really good success with losing weight, lost 78 lbs with 22 to go. I dont know what to do, should I have the band removed and try losing the last myself or should I have a new put in if it doesnt move back. Is it even possible for it to move back up? If anybody has any answers I would greatly appreciated it....:think

I have also had a slip that went back into place after being unfilled for two weeks. I wholeheartly agree that being filled too aggressively makes the band slip, I would caution anyone to please be careful of this. I try to look at it this way, I did not gain all my weight in one year, not even two, so what if it takes a while. You still have to live.... so I have decided that a little fill here, a little fill there, some exercise and it will come off. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :nervous :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Would you do it again?

oh yea.... sucks being overweight, can run alot faster of my husband too! -
:clap2: My band has actually moved back into the correct position...yipee!!! I had a very small fill (.5 cc) in my 4cc band. I hope your band moves back into position, my thoughts are with you. I do have to admitt I am a little worried my might go back to being slipped so I told Dr to only put in a little. I have only about 22 lbs to lose so I dont mind if it takes a while. Keep us posted on your slipped band and good luck!

Actually, before I had my unfill, I was able to eat just about anything, even a half of sandwich with whole grain bread. I have only thrown up a couple of times, once when I had something stuck after my first fill and twice after my last fill. So throwing up was not a huge factor in my slipped band. I have noticed yesterday and today is seems I have more restiction, I am hoping maybe my band is moving a little up. It could be withful thinking too. I would like to thank everybody for there input....It has made a difficult situation a little better.

socalgal3, I see that you have been rebanded, how is it going for you? Is there more of a possibililty for your band to slip again? Did you think about not getting rebanded?

The thread I want this added to was under complications...

I can basically eat anything now, dr completely unfilled me. There must be different types of slippage. I would think if you could not eat or get anything down the slippage would be that the band moved upwards, mine has moved down my stomache. Of course, I am not a doctor so I dont know for sure if there different types. It just seems to me there are alot more slippage than only 3%.

Of course now I realize I have posted this in the wrong thread...wow its been just one of those days. Does anyone know how I would move it to the right thread?

Would like some help please...I was banded on 6/8/06, have a 4cc band, first fill at 2cc, second and 3cc, does this seem aggressive to you?? I have lost 77 lbs with 23 to go. I have acid reflux so bad I wake up choking, have not had a good nights sleep in months. Drs are not very forthcoming. I am thinking about getting some of the band released, maybe to tight?? Also, does anyone know how much protein we are supposed to have everyday? Thanks to all who have some answers....:cry

I can eat anything, but in moderation of course. I have no problems with getting food stuck. Which is one of the reasons why I am wondering why I even have acid reflux. I am taking an OTC acid blocker which it seems to me it is basically useless. I believe I will go the route of a small unfill. Thanks for you input.
