  1. Haven't posted in awhile, had a scare. I was banded 12/18 and went back to work on the 1/2. I am a dental assistant that sits in a chair that has an arm that fits around your middle to lean on while bending over. Need I say "very uncomfortable". Well I developed this redness just under my port and that looked like faded veins. Went in to the Doctor and he said he couldn't rule out an infection and put me on Keflex (antibiotic) for a week. Was also experiencing soreness in the whole abdominal area at the end of a long day. We are a very busy office and I think I was just wearing myself out. Today is my last day of the antibiotic and woke up with no redness! THANK GOD!!!! I was so scared I was going to have to get this out and that I had done all of this for nothing! I am definitely eating more and I can't wait to get my fill and put these hunger pains to rest! My doctor said that by the time I get my first fill it will probably feel like I don't have a band at all and could possible gain some weight back. I am trying really hard not to! Its sad how little I have to eat to lose weight. Sure I lost 17 lbs eating close to nothing for 2 weeks, but now I've been eating regular small meals and haven't lost another pound. I look at what I eat now and its less than half of what I used to eat and still not losing! I must have the slowest metabolism! Is anyone out there trying Raspberry Ketones? Dr Oz said the help with losing weight? Just curious
  2. The only protein I can drink is isopure, you can get it at GNC and its a clear liquid. Kind of expensive but they are ok. They don't have aspartame in them, and I can't have that it gives me a cloudy head! Hope this helps.
  3. It seems we are all going through the same things. I was banded on 12/18 and lost 17 lbs in a week and a half. Now its been almost 3 weeks and still just 17 lbs. My doctor said there is no fluid in my band yet and as I heal it will feel as if there is no band at all. He said its possible and common that some people gain some of the weight back before their first fill. I hope I don't but I am eating regular food and notice I can eat a little more everyday. I see a lot of you are getting fills soon. I sure wish I was but my appt is not until the 23rd. I am gonna try like crazy not to gain weight before then. I am also having leg cramps. I am taking vitamins and also got a juicer. I try to drink a juice once a day and that is suppose to have a lot of potassium in it. Plus they are yummy! Could be dehydration though because I am having a hard time drinking all the water that I used to. On a good note went back to work two days ago and everyone has noticed that I have lost weight and also mentioned how good my skin and eyes look (that is the juicing I believe). They said I look like I am glowing! Hope this helps and shows that we are all going through similar things. Lets just keep moving forward and I am sure we are well on our way to a great New Year and smaller clothes!!! LOL
  4. I am a dental assistant and I also noticed a lot of tongue plaque. I scrape it everyday, but when you mess with the natural flora in the mouth it takes a while for it to normalize and I'm assuming getting banded would mess with it. Plus these liquids and mushy food seems to leave a scum in your mouth too. I suggest really good oral hygiene, I use my sonicare toothbrush, tongue scraper and sonicare flosser (like a water pik) and things are starting to get better. Hope this helps
  5. Had my first post op visit and ok for mushy food! Ok so after surgery this is weird, and wondering if anyone else has had the same trouble. I know I need to urinate from the full feeling I get around my bladder but the "I have to pee" sensation is not there. Dr said its probably just from the anesthesia but I think its more of a nerve thing. Happen to anyone else?
  6. Hello everyone! I have enjoyed reading your posts, I was banded on 12/18/12. I'm curious about the biotin? I am taking a chewable multi vitamin and calcium citrate daily. What is the biotin for and did your doctor recommend taking it?
  7. My friend who has now been banded for almost 2 years said just to listen to your body. I am a week post op and have had 1/4 cups of refried beans and mashed potatoes here and there. Also vanilla yogurt has been ok. Eating these things feels much better to my stomach than those protein shakes. For whatever reason the drink goes down ok but after a few min it feels like it expands in my stomach and hurts. Tried some egg drop soup yesterday, thinking the egg would help me get my protein intake and went down and felt great to my stomach. So far so good, but just taking it really easy and just little bits.

    Port hurts

Thats what I was thinking, because it would have hurt right when I slipped if it tore. Thank you for the reassurance
  11. I was banded a week ago and doing great!!! Yesterday I slipped on some ice and caught myself, and minor pain but nothing serious. Took a nap later in the day and woke up with my port area hurting. Not sure if muscle or if port detached. Its just more sore than it had been. So my question is has this happened to anyone else and please tell me its just muscle soreness?
