Gained weight when I hit puberty. After that I was always the chunky friend. With my first pregnancy I gained 80lbs and lost 40lbs then with my second pregnancy I gained 30 and stayed there. Over the last 19 years my weight has climbed steadily. Finally when I seen that I was almost 300lbs I knew something had to be done. Not to mention all the aches and pains that I have been having. I think I have arthritis in my knee and I'm only 41 years old. I do not want to be this heavy and have to have a knee replacement someday. I have done all the diets and tried exercising. But as many of you know I would lose 40lbs only to gain 50 after I would go back to "normal" eating. I have never been a soda drinker nor have I had a sweet tooth. Well of course I would eat desert sometimes, but maybe 2-3 times a month. With my job its impossible to snack so I would just eat my three meals a day. But when I ate, I ate a lot. Plus I would have fast food more than I would care to admit for lunch. My problem is portion control so I went looking for something to help with that and I do believe I've found it. I've read the books, went online, been to the meetings and found a great friend who has had great success with lap band. Waited a year before I went to the doctor only to find out that my insurance was going to require a 6 month supervised diet by my physician. Went through all the steps and here I am. Writing this I am one week post op and 13 lbs down. Merry Christmas to me :D Looking forward to the journey and happy to find a forum like this for support!!!
