Lapband Coffee Group - Brampton, Monday, Feb. 11th - 7:00 p.m.
Tiny1234 replied to Tomander's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just banded in November, live in Brampton and have wanted to get out for one of the meetings, unfortunately I've always had prior engagements that I couldn't get out of. I said to myself that I was going to get out to the next meeting you posted, come hell or high water. Well, guess what.. I'm leaving for Jamaica on Friday for a week so will miss the upcoming meeting. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope to get out for the next meeting after this one although i do have a gall bladder operation scheduled for early march. I will definately make a meeting before summer, lol. -

Well look at you! You look mahhhhvellous, well done! I bet your smile was a mile wide when you compared the pictures, you must feel amazing...you look amazing.

How's everyone doing? Any issues? Is it what you thought it would be?

60 lbs...wow, that's great! You should be very proud of yourself, well done. You and I were banded on the same day. I've lost a total of 30 lbs. I'm from Ontario Canada, self pay, was on a 2 week liquid program before the procedure and lost about 10 lbs during that time, the remainder has come off since my operation. Nice to get rid of some of the fat clothes, eh. Take care!

That made me smile. My father is legally blind so you can understand why your blog caught my eye. Their hearts make up for lack of sight. How lucky you are, how lucky your husband is..to have each other.

Omg...that made me laugh out loud! -
Sorry that you have to deal with nausea... Gravel worked for me, they have a ginger gravol that did the trick. I bought them in tablets and let them soften in my mouth, very easy to swallow. Almost instant relief. Make sure you drink too, don't get dehydrated, that can make you nauseous. Pain meds could be making you feel ill. Good luck. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Right, right, ..I forgot about skinnytaste,, will be checking that out as well, thanks!

They're very good...the key is to rinse them then rinse them again, and one more rinse before you start cooking with them. They don't look or taste like cardboard, they have same consistency as some noodles and take on the flavour of what you're cooking them with...and they're good for you.

Definately! I could've written that 2 months ago when I was banded (nov 28). I guess it's the fear of the unknown. I can honestly say that it's full steam ahead for me. You have an exciting new life ahead of you, enjoy the journey.

Grocery List-inc. vitamins, broths and shakes
Tiny1234 replied to Kped's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas-x strips, gravol lozenges (the ginger flavored ones are nice..only took/needed it once), heating pad, chewable vitamins, Tylenol. I used a pill crusher for the Tylenol, but found I could actually swallow it whole. I only took the prescribed pain meds for 2days, then found Tylenol did the trick. I'm sure you'll get lots of other replies as to what helped with other people. We all want this to be as painless and hassle free as possible. One other thing...patience helps. Each day gets better. Good luck! Oh food wise... Broth, sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles as well as your protein drinks. -
Love love love dr cobourn, what an amazing dr. Great nurses, great support workers, couldn't ask for a better place to have your surgery done. I'm from the Mississauga area, sorry..not Calgary. As for sight seeing, hmmm, you're going to have to take it a day at a time. Walks here and there, but you're not going to be at your best. Maybe go the movies and see how you do with that. Good luck!

When Did You Feel "normal" Again After Surgery?
Tiny1234 replied to AmyBK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded last Wednesday, I'm heading back to work tomorrow (Monday). I feel fine, my job is not strenuous, my shoulder pain has just about disappeared and I won't be overdoing it. If I didn't feel good then I'd take a couple of more days off, but to tell you the truth, I'm getting bored here at home. -
When Did You Feel "normal" Again After Surgery?
Tiny1234 replied to AmyBK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No no..don't put heating pad on your incisions, rest it on your shoulders or across your back where you might be feeling gas pains. -

Feels Like A Big Bubble In My Chest
Tiny1234 replied to Rongen62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you mentioned the bubble feeling, I was only banded yesterday and I have that same feeling. I wasn't too concerned about it and figured it was from the air pimped in for surgery. The bigger the breaths I take the less of a bubble I feel. I do have to remind myself to do the deep breathing though...it doesn't come natural. -
Also had surgery yesterday (28th), only real pain I have is in left shoulder, I was told that happens when you get hernia repair. Walking helps almost instantly for me. Have felt kind of gassy but gas x seems to work. Taking codeine when needed but on the lower dose. Took twice yesterday , nothing today so far. Each day I hope to feel better and better. Going to spend some time outside today, i'm sure the fresh air wil help. Good luck to all who have recently been banded.???

Has anyone found this product in Canada? I see this come up all the time when reading other lap band sites. It seems to be very popular and I'm just wondering if it's carried in stores or just online? Would appreciate a steer towards a good protein drink. Thanks!

I've found a fix! I started adding some sugar free jello to my drinks, lots of ice and voila,,,a strawberry shake (almost). At least the gag reflex is controllable.

Nervous and excited. Anyone else share my surgery date? So much helpful info on these forums. Thanking you all for sharing the good, bad and the ugly.

Thanks cheznoel, I'd like to give it a try. As long as it's not chalky or medicinal tasting, I'll give it a go.

Having major issues with gall bladder today... Dr says this might delay my surgery.....NOOOO! I'm on a couple different scripts for antibiotics and have painkillers. Have to go back in 24 hours. I'm going to think positive thoughts and hope I'm better soon. I NEVER GET SICK! I'm still gunning for nov 28 surgery...come hell or high water!
