About to pay the deposit but...
Tiny1234 replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is not uncommon. For many of us who've tried every which way to lose weight, we now have hope. It works! I was scared, nervous, overwhelmed right up to the day I had surgery, now I'm happy happy happy! I love my life, I love me even more. -
What the heck, 4th foreign body removed from you? This sounds like a really bad nightmare. I hope you get well soon and that all your body parts are now truly your own, take care, big hug.

I was banded a few months ago, I plan and WILL lose 100 lbs. you have to be motivated and you have to be willing to follow the rules. If you do that then you will be successful. Sounds like the surgeon isn't going to be totally supportive. Can you switch to another surgeon? One who 'gets it'. As far as time off, I was banded on a Wednesday and back to work on Monday with no issues. Good luck and remember to reach for the stars, you're worth it!

Thanks Wildrose, good info.

My restrictor plate is in!
Tiny1234 replied to NJHAZMAT's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think he's referring to his lap band as his restrictor plate. He has a good and funny way with words and a great approach to his new life. -

Sugar free Popsicles. I just had my gall bladder removed today and can only have liquids/jello, etc for today. But you all are sure making me hungry! -
Anyone with this issue???
Tiny1234 replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having my gallbladder removed tomorrow. Trying not to think about it, I really really don't want that shoulder pain that came with lap band surgery. Lap band surgery was 3 months ago, I've lost about 30 lbs. I had lost a lot of weight in a short period of time quite a few years ago, and then put it back on. I've also read that losing weight rapidly can cause some gall bladder issues. The other thing that's sticking in my my mind is if I'm going to feel nauseous, I don't want to be throwing up, especially with the band. I didn't have any issues that way when I got banded so im hoping same goes this time. Soon this will all be over and I'll be up and at 'em. -
I always look forward your threads, very positive.

I have no wishes to share any medical history with anyone but my husband and 2 grown sons. It's nobody's business but mine and theirs. I feel not one bit guilty by responding to weight loss questions with "im careful with what i eat" period. That's it, end of story. I don't want to discuss my failures from the past, I don't want people watching me when I eat, I don't want anyone discussing me behind my back, I just want to get on to being a healthier me. I feel great, I feel empowered, I feel like this is the best time of my life. I'm so glad I had lapband surgery.

My port was still tender and I did have pain that came and went for a couple of weeks but nothing that alarmed me. Sounds like a call to your dr might help ease your mind.
-
Yes, bruising and me go hand in hand so I wasn't surprised to see my bruise after surgery. I've only been banded for 3 months and will bruise if I happen to carry the laundry basket tight against my port, or anything else that rubs up against me. Ohhh...that sounded dirty, but I'm sure you know what I mean.
-
Sounds like you're coming along great. And positive about the whole thing. Continued success !

From one Canuck to another, way to go, eh!

I know I didn't get all my liquids in for the first couple of days, I always had water with me and drank what I could. Don't stress over it. I was trying to sip every half hour, things got easier next day. You'll be swollen from surgery and then there's that god forsaken shoulder pain. Gas x did help somewhat, the heating pad helped somewhat and I was always rubbing my shoulder thinking I could just rub it away. I took pain meds every 4 hours first day and especially before bed. Next day I only took Tylenol but went back to the prescribed pain meds before bed, and did the same day 3. Still had shoulder pain day 4 but moving really helps as well as moving your arms in a windmill kind of way. I was in a hockey arena day 4 cheering my grandson on. Tired, but feeling not bad at all...wasn't ready to run up and down any stairs but was feeling pretty good. Day 5 I was golden! So, I guess what I'm saying is take it easy, rest when you need to, get outside for a bit, walk, move your body...but leave the tobogganing for a bit yet. Keep us posted with your progress, nice to have your wife helping you out.

Desk job, 3 days plus the weekend. All good. Was tired at end of my first day back to work but by the next day I was good. I would've been bored at home if I'd have stayed home any longer.

Enjoy your meds! Hope you get a good nights sleep/rest. Tomorrow....heating pad and don't forget your fluids. I'm sure you're going to come through this with flying colors. Patience helps right now.

Weighing Food - Before or After Cooked
Tiny1234 replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely..after you cook it. Some meat (specifically frozen chicken) has water injected and you're sure as sh*t not going to want that to be part of your 3-4 ounces. So after cooking for sure. -
Finally, eh! Best of luck to you, I can tell by your posts that you are ready for this and will do well. Speedy recovery and hope the sun is shining bright for you today, best of luck!

Betsy, pls don't give up. I watched your beautiful Bella on YouTube, I could hear the love and passion in your voice. What you and your husband have done for that little girl by giving her a home and love and hope is just beautiful. Please give yourself some more time with your lapband, you're so patient and loving with Bella, I just hope you can show yourself the same love and patience. We always seem to take care of others before ourselves, it's in our nature. But by getting ourselves healthy is really our true gift to our family and those around us. Whatever you decide is ultimately your decision, but I really hope you give it another chance. think of why you had lapband surgery in the first place, you must've thought about it, researched it, had to go through all the insurance prerequisite, don't give up now. How do you explain that to your beautiful family? Pls hang in there.

Is this an NSV, or is it just weird?
