Banded 1 yr and have it removed!!
me4me replied to spoiledbratt97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it possible something else is going on? If you are counting calories, keeping to your recommended daily caloric intake, eating max a cup, getting your protein, water and vitamins in and exercising...and you're not losing weight sounds like a metabolic problem. Have you had your thyroid checked? Do you feel tired, cold, hair loss, easily gain weight, etc? Calories in, calories out only works if the system is running smoothly. Unfortunately, you can go to great lengths with a screwy system and not get the results you expect which is very frustrating. I'm sure you will do what is best for you, but please consider seeing an endocrinologist and having your thyroid/adrenal glands/pituitary tested. In high school I worked out 6 days a week and ate 1000-1200 calories a day just to maintain my weight. I did not lose and it wasn't until I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started medication that I could even begin dieting correctly. Good luck! -

How Many Calories Do You Take In A Day
me4me replied to kathyzimmerman24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat 800-1000 daily and usually have 3 meals and 1-2 snacks. Do you count the calories in your vitamins? I find chewable/liquid vitamins have more cals than pill forms and was counting them until my NUT told me not to. Not sure if that makes sense..cals are cals to the body, right? -
Checking in at 246.5 as of 12/8. Down 2.5 lbs. I was traveling last week and had to make some choices eating out. So thankful I didnt gain!

Had my postop with my surgeon today. Everything looks good but he said something that concerned me. He asked if I was getting in my 64 grams of Protein daily and I said after the first week it hasn't been a problem, that I can get in closer to 9-95 grams daily (I track everything on MFP). He said he thought that was too much protein which confused me. I assumed if I had extra calories after I hit 64 grams of protein it was better to still get more protein instead of fats and carbs. My surgeon seemed to think its hard to lose weight eating 1000 calories a day and suggested I cut back to 800 cals a day. Has anyone received similar advice? How many grams of protein are you getting daily? I will consult my nutritionist but just wondered if anyone had a similar experience.

9 Weeks Post Op, Was Doing Great Till Today :-(
me4me replied to YankeeChick75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have my gallbladder removed a few years ago and refused to have the surgery until after final exams. I found that if I kept to very low fat items (which should be good for the band also), I rarely got a flare of pain and if I did it was minor and shortlived. I also found my body responded differently to different fats. Olive oil was fine but anything fried, oily sauces, cheese lead to pain. Hopefully you can manage it without surgery. Hope you're feeling better soon! -
Banded Today
me4me replied to JerseyShoreDisneyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal to be in some pain afterwards...you did just have surgery afterall. If you're in too much pain, don't torture yourself. Your doctor gave you pain meds for a reason. Find a feel good movie on tv and walk during the commercials. Remember to sip sip sip so you don't get hydrated. It will get better. Wish you a fast recovery! -
I'm just over 3 weeks postop. Hopefully these will get much better over time.

Post Op November Bansters
me4me replied to samcclintick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was banded on the 5th and more or less so far so good. Having some gas pains but walking really helps. I'm also having trouble getting in all the water and protein...seems like there's not enough hours in the day...
