Please Help, I'm on day 3 of pre-op diet and doing well. I have to take clients to lunch today. I can't not have something as that will appear weird. Do you think it's ok to have a salad with chicken and. Fat free dressing? I'm having surgery 11/28.

Well, I made it through day 1 and felt good. I only got in 2 shakes, but made a large pot of homemade chicken soup and had 3 oz of chicken with a few carrots and celery. Lots if broth. I also had jello. Drank LOTS of fluids and had more broth. Also had a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I really think I can do this! .

Absolutely! Use the chicken to eat your meal. You will have a ton of it that will last a week! -
Day 1 Of Liquids Completed!
RichGirl replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it! Make home made chicken soup/stock if you can, it works well. using my jewish grandmothers wonderful receipe, take a whole chicken and put it in a pot with garlic cloves, onion, carrots and celery, salt and pepper and cover it with Water. Be generous with the salt. Boil it for maybe 45-60 minutes, then take whole chicken out and set aside, strain stock and discard the veggies. Put strained stock back in pot, add new carrots, celery, onion and take chicken de-skin it and shred it into pieces. Add back into stock and cook until newly added veggies are soft. Its Awesome! You can leave the chicken in and take little bits if you want or you can omit the chicken and keep the broth with veggies. If you omit it, Use shredded chicken for fresh chicken salad for the family. I also have been drinking a lot of herbal tea (mandarin orange) with equal. It keeps the belly warm, full and it's sweet! Enjoy! -
I'm starting my pre-op diet this Wednesday and went and bought Light Muscle Milk and tried it this morning to see what it would taste like and it was HORRIBLE! If anyone has other suggestions, please let me know. I've got to find something that tastes relatively decent if I'm going to make it through this.

Liquid Protein Opinions Needed!
RichGirl replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I like the shake ok but I'm mixing it with water. I see some people mix it with skim milk. That would probably be much better but I didn't think I could have milk? I also get to eat other protein so I guess every diet is different. This is day 1 and the thought of 13 more seems like an eternity! Lol -

My husband took me to a very nice restaurant tonight. I had lobster risotto and bananas flambé, it was wonderful. I'm very excited about moving forward. -

Your Last Supper......
RichGirl replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's so weird but ever since I received my surgery date, my tummy has been weird. I haven't been as hungry and haven't been able to finish meals (cleaning my plate). I start my pre-op diet on Wednesday and I'm hoping This continues for the liquid phase. I think I'm so ready for this change that my brain is already sending signals to body. -
I Dont Know What To Do

Awe, I know most people will read this and think he's a jerk. However, he's more insecure about losing his wife than anything. It's obvious that he's having a hard time envisioning that you may be more attractive once you lose weight. I'm scheduled for surgery on 11/28 and my husband too is not happy about my decision. He's more worried about the surgery outcome. Please try to get some professional help and understand your husband's fears and or angst about what's happening with your surgery and how he feels about himself and your relationship once you look and feel different. Therapy is a great thing to a better understanding. Men tend to get angry when they insecure or hurt. I wish you lots of luck and don't for one second give up on your decision to get yourself healthy! -
My insurance had many requirements one which was a 6 month dietitian requirement to ensure I knew how to eat the right foods. I went thru so much testing and have finalized everything. I'm scheduled for November 28th. I just got approved last week. It's a long journey and you need to be ready for a life change. Go through everything you need to. I found out during the process that I had severe sleep apnea. I had no idea. Just knew I felt horrible all the time. Good luck with the process.
