Hello all! Anyone from the Boston area a bandster as well?
-
We live about 35 minutes from the office so it's a trek for us too. Congrats on your weight loss! I have found going to thrift stores to buy the in between sizes is much cheaper and I find good deals! I have yoyo'd a lot so I have a range of sizes. I'm hoping this ends the yoyo and I can maintain the loss. I am also a tall woman. I am 5' 11" so I doubt I will ever be "small". My goal is healthy, happy and comfortable in my own skin.

Hey! I Do see Adam and was banded Nov 13th! I am doing well. Do you go to any of the office functions/ support groups? My husband is also a patient of Adam's, he was banded Oct 4th.

I am really well now! The first 4 days were rough but I made it lol some of the nausea for me was borderline dehydration. Once I found that warm liquids helped (I used warm tea with Splenda) on day 4, I felt like a new person because I wasn't dehydrated anymore! It does get easier, hang in there

Did Any Of U Had The Port Removed Due To Infection?
vanessa1215 replied to eti37's topic in The Lounge
Question: if there is no port, how do you still have the band? It's all 1 unit... Did they just cut the port and tuning and leave the band? Sounds odd.... -
My hubs and I ride (both bandsters) We ride a Triumph Rocket 3.. Well he drives and I ride b!+[# haha! Made a trip to Sturgis in 2009 and it was a wild week at the buffalo chip! Can't wait to get back on the bike! Miss it a lot!

Good question... When I go home to TX I really want one of my moms homemade sour dough rolls... Those are heavenly!

I have noticed the breath thing too! I am almost positive it's the vitamins (due to the after taste) Anyone have suggestions for vitamins without the side effect of poo breath?

I am day 6 post op and am starting to have some pain/discomfort where my port is. I still have some shoulder pain that didn't start until day 3. The rest of my body seems to be a little sore probably due to using muscles that aren't usually used, I have to sit up different, I slouched the first couple days so my back kind of hurts ect. I do have to say its getting better over all

The doctor I use in MA is strictly in the lap band business, he does no other wls. He has done over 1200 Bands and is AWESOME at what he does. He believes in specializing in one field an perfecting it. If anyone is in the Boston area, Adam Glasgow is phenomenal! We call him by his first name and if you have an issue, he calls you back within minutes... Even if it's weekend, middle of the night or he's on vacation. Doesn't matter, this is his life he loves what he does and it shows in his patient care

How Soon After Post Op Can I "focus" On Weight Loss?
vanessa1215 replied to audreycat123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days post op and starting to feel human again... Just because we feel ok and look ok on the outside, remember we still have stitches and healing to do on the inside Follow doctors orders on diet (eating too little can hinder weight loss!) and my docs orders say 4-6 weeks before excersize other than walking. Check with your doc for his specifics. Good luck!!! -

Day 2 Post-Op. Muscle Soreness
vanessa1215 replied to LoLo9826's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure to get your fluids! I was the same way and found that I was dehydrated! I drank tea with Splenda and it really helped with my hydration. After I was properly hydrated, I felt like a new person. I am 6 days post op and can say it does get better every day -
Full Liquid Ideas
vanessa1215 replied to LizAndrews's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Full liquids and clear liquid diet are two different things... I think some get them confused. Full liquids is anything through a straw, clear liquids is just that, clear such as broth, juice, ext. I am cleared for full liquids so I am getting myself some bean and bacon soup and blending it up in the blender today excited!! -

Warm Tea With Splenda!
vanessa1215 replied to vanessa1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although tea is a natural diuretic, it was a God send today! I feel like a new person! With 5 kids, I can't be lethargic or "down and out" too long I will take my blessings, however small they may be, and count them 1 by 1... And today that blessing was in the form of TEA!! Lol -

I will try the Earl Gray and the juice concoction! I am excited as I feel a while lot better since getting some fluid in me! I am scared I was on the verge of dehydration -

LOVE THIS!! As a photographer I am rarely on the picture with my kids, time to rearrange that and make sure they have those memories long after I am gone and to pass on my story to their own little ones
