    Liquids

Pre-op diet consisted of sf jello and pudding, broths, yogurt, protein shakes and anything else liquid. Hospital stay 24 hrs after sugery and was allowed ice chips, and sf Popsicles. Once home I was allowed anything on my pre-op diet plus oatmeal and cream of wheat for 2 weeks. Then mushies for 2 weeks then solids. Yep, 1 month of modified diet before solids... Every doc is different. My doc deals only with lapband patients. I would email your doc to ask specifics for your lapband procedure since they have the info all lumped together.... Good luck

    Dumb question

    Haha!!!

    Sort of have a concern

This was a huge Inverness for me too. I was told that if I follow docs orders and get in my protein and vitamins daily, it won't be an issue... So far so good! I have heard some people take biotin to help or prevent hair loss but I am not sure the details of how much or how often. I have read that any hair loss is more of a thinning and is temporary, not a permanent thing. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

    Advice Wanted

Absolutely! The first 3 days of pre-op diet SUCKED! After that it was much easier to maintain... Food is an addiction, and I went through withdrawal symptoms from a radical diet change. I was banded Nov 13 and am down 30+ lbs, I wouldn't change a thing!

    WTH IS WRONG WITH ME

You CAN and you WILL do this! The pro-op diet and the diet 2-3 weeks after sugery are the hardest part physically... Mentally, it was torture for me! You are not alone in this battle! I am now on the "other side" down 30+ lbs (surgery was Nov 13th) and I don't regret a single thing about it! I still battle head hunger sometimes and struggle some at work (restaurant industry!) since I'm around food ALL day! This too soon shall pass!

Starting To Hate Chicken... Already :-(

Pork is something my doc said to steer clear of (I personally slime when I eat ham) I haven't tried the canned ham but I might give it a shot since is already mushied

Starting To Hate Chicken... Already :-(

After surgery, there were things I fell out of love with... Protein drinks, no matter what brand, I couldn't stand! It's slowly coming back now though. Maybe give it a while and Take chicken out of your diet...? I don't know why it happens, but you are not alone

    Banded Yesterday

My doc pumped me full of so much anti nausea meds, I don't think its possible I could have been sick! Lol I also wore the tiny patch behind my ear for 3 days to prevent nausea. I hope all you new bandsters recover well and best wishes to you all!

    Nauseaus

Maybe for the best! The last thing we need to do as bandsters is vomit especially so soon after surgery. Dehydration causes nausea and that may be your docs concern, along with hurting the band. I sure hope you feel better soon! Prayers your way

    Newly Banded Too

Keep your head up RichGirl!!! This will be a memory soon and you will make it through. Ask for ice chips. May be easier to get those down to start. Best wishes and good vibes coming your way!

    Banded Today

I agree with the taking meds now. Once the pain starts, it's hard to get back under control. Take your meds, walk, use gas x (gas was worst for me on day 2&3) and sip any fluid your doc has approved. By day 4, I resorted to warm tea... It HELPS!!! God speed

    Pre Op Testing

I did not have to do that test. Is there anything in your family history? Or do you have varicose veins in your legs? Was it an isurance requirement? Maybe it's routine for his office... Doctors are so different when it comes to their personal processes. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!
  14. Good luck today! There are some great resources available here that can help you through your journey! The experienced bandsters have a wealth of knowledge and they are willing to share! The ladies and gents here are so helpful

    Banded Monday

Gas x strips or chewables help with the burping along with the recommendations above to walk walk walk! I slept on the couch propped up for a week before I felt comfortable laying down. Best wishes!

    30Lbs Down And Airplanes

Southwest is awful about targeting larger passengers! My husband was told he had to buy an extra seat, he refused as it was his 4th flight with them in 2 days and nothing was ever said! We are both now banded and I can't wait to take out flight next August together as smaller healthier people... Definitely won't me on Southwest though
  18. I am 2 weeks out from surgery... The first 7 I didn't lift much at all, however I just went for a check today and have no restrictions on lifting my kids. Don't back out!!! Being on this side of the band, I wouldn't change it for anything! I'm down 32 lbs since starting my process and don't regret it one bit! I have 5 kids ges 14, 10, 7, 3 and 1... I needed to do this so I'm still around to pick up my grandbabies! Small sacrifice now for great rewards later! Don't put it off, where there's a will, there's a way! Prayers for you and good luck!

    Ladies

I too had my cycle when I was scheduled for my surgery. I brought my own pads and word the lovely hospital undies. No big deal at all! Just let your nurse know and it shouldn't be a big deal! Best of luck to ya!

    Anyone A Smoker?

I am a smoker, was banded November 13th (still a rookie I was told not to smoke after midnight the day before surgery. My surgeon has it planed for me to kick the habit once I get my weight under control. He said when people try to make too much change at once, their chance of succeeding at any of it drops significantly so we will work on one thing at a time. I would say ask the doctor and he can give you his specifics on when to stop smoking pre-op... Every doc is different

    Sharp Pain At Port Site

With my insurance, anything 90 days post op is covered automatically... I would be going to have that checked ASAP best of luck an hope it's nothing major!

    Yellow Fluid Removed From Band

Call their after hours service and have the doctor call you back! Tell him you can't wait another week for a consult... They should get you in, if not, go to the ER. Best wishes!

    So Sleep3 Days Post Op

I found my bed too uncomfortable to sleep in I slept on the couch for a week, the first few days I would wake up with some discomfort and walking would help with the gas and liquid Tylenol or pain meds would help with the pains. Your body is recovering from surgery, if it says it's tired and needs sleep, then by all means listen to it! This is the time for healing

    Quick Question?

I don't want a fill until I am ready and my doc is ok with that. That was a big concern for me! If I am losing steady weight without a full, I won't ever get one
