Anyone have BCBS insurance with low BMI and high blood pressure?
utkscvol1 replied to lynndtt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan req 6 month supervised diet. The surgeon req nutritional and pschy eval. I highly suggest looking at your plan- mine had medical guidelines available online and it clearly outlined what was considered a comorbidity. One listed was metabolic syndrome- look it up. My pcp listed it in my letter of Rec along with hypertension. My last visit was in april. It took my insurance almost 30 days to approve. And I took the soonest thing the surgeons office could give me. -

I have been on my journey for the past 7 months and will be banded Thursday. My parents and hubby have known all along. I told my employer I was having a cyst removed. I will be taking a week off. Last week I told my brother and sister n law. That's it- I don't want anyone else knowing. It's very personal to me. My girls are 16 and 13 so I don't want to discuss it with them at this time. -
Getting banded June 25
utkscvol1 replied to turner72560's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on June 13th. My bmi is 37. I had to do the protein diet. I started Monday so this is day 5. The first 3 days I had my 2 shakes and one grilled chicken breast with steamed broccoli. Yesterday and today I have stuck to it and it has been a lot easier. I thing it's the initial detox. But feeling good now. As of this am I have lost 7 pounds. My doctor allows sugar free Popsicles, broth and even low fat soups like cream of chicken. 24 hours before nothing but clear liquids. The hardest part has been the social aspect. It's Friday night and normally we would go out to eat but are staying in. -

Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery

I officially hate drug reps! Our office gets lunch catered on Tuesdays and Thursday and breakfast on Wednesdays from reps. This am it was the full Cracker Barrel spread???± if that wasn't bad enough another rep came in and brought 2 boxes of cookies from the bakery. No wonder I have gained 20 pounds in the last year and a half. -
Preop at the hospital tomorrow bright and early. Last step before surgery next Thursday.

Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery
utkscvol1 replied to ArtM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had a protein shake for breakfast- one for lunch- 2 pieces of sugar free gum but by the time I got home from work I felt extremely sick. So I did have half a piece of grilled chicken breast and 1/2 cup of steamed broccoli. I'm trying not to beat myself up too bad. This is a Huge improvement to what I previously would have done!!! I also got some water in but not nearly enough. Hoping tomorrow will be better:) -

A few days late starting my preop diet but surgeons office says its fine. Today is day one- wish me luck- it's gonna be hard. Halfway thru my lean protein shake for breakfast. -
I have horizon bcbs- there is a medical policy section on their website that clearly outlined what had to be met to have it covered- call your insurance- you pay them and make them tell you what they consider comorbities

I like gnc's lean shakes as well:) strawberries n cream is good! I picked up a pouch of cookies n cream today to try. -
I had hypertension, had labs drawn in jan that showed high triglycerides, and pcos. According to my insurance I only needed 1 comorbidity. But I had 3 off of their list. We should stay in touch:)
