I absolutely hate exercising of any kind. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get started and give me the motivation I need? I am half way to my goal and have plateaued. I know I need the exercise but am dreading it.
-
I lost 45 lbs with no fills and then I plateaued. I decided to get 2 fills which put me at 6 cc in a 10cc band. I still feel like I can eat just as much as I did before the surgery. What is going on? Did I completely sabotage the entire surgery and stretch my stomach out or do I just need another fill? I don't feel like I have any restriction what so ever.

Lello and hely 88, thank you for just giving advice and not telling me I just don't know what I am doing. This site is suppose to be here to motivate and help people not to frustrate them more. Lellos post is exactly what my dr and classes taught me and I needed it put like that to re learn that so thank you.

I am really glad that you took your time to post on this subject but have you ever read what Lapband.com has to say about this? It clearly states in the first sentence that "The lapband system reduces your stomachs capacity, restricting the amount of food you are able to eat at one time". I trust my Dr 150% and he would not have told me this was the case had it not been. I also read on 3 other websites that the band "limits your intake of food". It no where says, except Dr Simpson, that you the patient can eat as much as you want with the band unless you control it.

First of all I didn't get overweight by being satisfied after eating and not eating again until I was hungry. I got over weight by over eating and not only when hungry but when ever I felt the need. If the band does not help with portion control then why did I get it? Isn't portion control and how often you eat the same thing as a diet like all the diets I have done previously and failed at? How is this not what I got out of 8 months of classes and 2 different Dr's? If I could lose the weight by portion control and how often I eat then I would have been able to do it on my own. How is it that the majority of the bandsters have throwing up and stuck episodes from over eating if the band is not suppose to restrict the amount of food you eat? I am starting to think that I waisted my money and should have gone with the sleeve.

If I can eat anything without chewing really well, which I eat really fast, and don't have stuck episodes but maybe once a week which lasts about 10-20 seconds then I am thinking that I do not have the restriction that I need. Do you believe this is the case that I need another fill?

hely88, Thanks for responding. I really thought that I knew so much about the lapband before I got it but I am really confused on one thing. Isn't the band suppose to stop you from over eating? I thought that if you over ate that you would throw it up? I can eat a lot more food then the 1 cup that I should be eating though I try not to.

Thanks everyone for the advise. I will defiantly take them all into consideration.

Thanks. I do usually walk my dogs but I live in Vegas and it is starting to get crazy hot. I try to avoid being outside unless in water during the summer. I have been wanting to join a gym but am afraid of not using it.

Is it normal for my scars to be really pink? I am almost 2 months out. My port incision has raised also. Will the color and scars fade?

Significant loss with no fills
jrockwood replied to Rn925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the question of not having a full but things getting stuck, I have only had it happen one time. It was a steak and cheese sandwich from subway with no sauce. I believe it was way to dry. It passed in about 5 minutes but was not pleasant at all. Other then that I just try to really chew and eat slower when eating bread. -
Significant loss with no fills
jrockwood replied to Rn925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been told by people that they went 8 or 9 months with out being filled. I am 2 months out am have lost 30 lbs with out a fill. I go back to the Dr the end of March. I to would like to continue without a fill. It is amazing how much my good thinking has changed. I rarely think about it anymore. Good luck. -

jrockwood replied to NewLifeRight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I could have burped after my surgery. I constantly felt like I needed to but took a lot of moving my body around to get it out. Be thankful you can. -

I have tried Visalus shakes. They are good but to much work for me. I like to just grab and go. -
Am I Doing Something Wrong Or Just Lucky?
jrockwood posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Nov 7th with a 1 day preop diet and have lost 19.5 lbs so far. I notice I can eat a lot less and don't have to feel sickly full to be satisfied anymore. I asked my Dr if I had anything in my band and he said no. I can drink a protein shake for breakfast as well as a shake around lunch time and then eat something light between then and dinner and I am just fine. I notice a lot of fellow bandsters says they are still hungry. I am also scared of slipping my band as I do not want to have another surgery so maybe that is in my mind instead of hunger. Has any one else been ok with no fill? I also wonder if I really could have done this my self and just waisted my money. I know that was not possible as I have always tried. -

I use premier protein from SAMs club. To me they taste just like chocolate milk. They are really cheap as well being $18.88 for a 12 pack. I find that the colder they are the better. If you don't have a SAMs card you can get a day pass for free and buy them if you wanted to try them. -

jrockwood replied to phdizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I shoul have mentioned that they are only 18.88 for a 12 pack which is around $1.57 a shake. I have been in able to buy a prepaid shake for this much. -
Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet - Shake suggestions?
jrockwood replied to phdizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried a lot of shakes out there and premier protein chocolate flavor from SAMs club is the only one that I liked. It tastes just like chocolate milk. I am still having 2-3 a day as I am not a bug near fan. Each shake has 30 grams protein and 5 grams carbs. -

Hi all, thank you for the responses. I am on solid foods however I prefer the shakes as I am not a huge meat fan. I have spoken with my nutritionist about this and she said as Long as I am getting 1100-1200 calories a day as well as my protein and losing I am fine to continue doing that. I happen to love the shakes. I however have not read anything that states you must eat solids 3 meals a day in order for the band to be effective. I eat solid foods for dinner and sometimes in between lunch and dinner. -

jrockwood replied to Rongen62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same annoying feeling. Mine took about a week to go away. I noticed that when I took ibu it felt so much better.
