    Pre-Op Diet

Sugar withdrawal is intense! If you are feeling low in energy, then you definitely were taking too much sugar before and the lack of sugar is having an affect on you. I had the same reaction. My sister is much healthier than me and when she cut out sugar, she didn't feel much different. Good luck! good to hear you don't wanna quit!

Almost 3 Weeks Out And I Feel Wonderful!!!

Excellent!! Got any advice for a soon to be newbie bandster? I'd love to get similar results! Is that 13lbs from surgery or including pre op diet? Keep up the good work!!
  5. daaamn! The incredible shrinking woman!

    Hurting...

In ref: to the mushy stage, my doctor and NUT have also prescribed me mushies pretty much as soon as get home from the hospital from surgery. It includes chicken and fish in my diet plan as long as it gets a spin in the food processor or moistened with something. You still in pain?
  7. I haven't been banded yet but this is great to get a head start for variety! I'm not whiz in the kitchen so i need ideas. What about avocado thinned out with FF yoghurt and a little Water, to make a kind of guacamole? That might be a nice way to then moisten up chicken/fish? And perhaps a little non-chunky salsa and a sprinkle of FF cheese? All within the cup limit of course.

Almost 3 Weeks Out And I Feel Wonderful!!!

Is it better to make chicken salad with low fat mayo instead to make it moist? I take it BBQ chicken or broiled chicken breast is out of the question...
  9. I started the liquid diet today, and i am ok so far (prob cos i ate a lot last night and still digesting that!) so i kinda feel bad for not working out.... but my hubby reckons that soon i'll be running on empty and best to conserve energy for the long haul. Slow and steady and focus on the task of not eating solid food for 2+ weeks.... What do ya'll think?
  10. Here's to tomorrow being another day!! Good luck luv!
  11. Hi Cheznoel, I wasn't planning on not moving at all, i just wanted to take it a day at a time and slowly for once. I am used to working out 5 days a week and drinking lots of Water etc... My NUT tells me i am a great candidate for lapband cos of those things already being a part of my routine. I guess i was feeling depressed cos i had no energy at all and was wondering if it was ok to take it somewhat slow. Most of my problem is mental and that's why i posted.... the guilt of not working out was making me doubt my future progress and i felt like if i heard from other people who also took it slow when necessary, maybe i would see it's not the end of the world. Today is the first day of the rest of my life and i am in this for the long haul. Thanks for reading.
  12. What a relief to hear this! I thought i was the only one who was going to slowly ease into exercise and started to feel really guilty and like a bit of a failure already. I think easing into it isn't a bad idea if we're struggling with physical reactions to lack of food. I know i sometimes start diets and things at level 10 and don't last long.... With this liquid diet, it's not a choice, but mandatory, prescribed instruction by our Doctor, so much more important to not screw it up. Thanks for your post LadyLeigh2012

    3 Days Left!

I have to do it for 2 weeks! I am finding SF popsicles are a god send so stock up on those. When i get hungry i just have one. A Protein shake you can handle the taste of too! I like "svelte hello beautiful" in chocolate. Yum. I wonder how many popsicles is too many... anyone? Is 10 a day too much?
  14. I usually get really hungry when i work out though and end up eating more... I know i am unable to 'eat' atm being on the shakes. But maybe i can ease into it? I am having a little more difficulty now with the lack of caffeine + sugar... headache, low energy, grumbly tummy.... maybe in a couple days when it gets better i can resume my spinning? Thank guys

    I Cheated Death!!

I actually think your post helps me! I happen to be one of those melodramatic people who gets anxiety and freaks out over things i haven't experienced before (there are many of us in the world... don't judge) so if i have a stuck episode after being banded and feel things i haven't felt (like choking, constriction etc) and i panic and think i am "dying", i will think back to this post and think "hang on now..... your NOT dying.... it just feels that way and other people have felt it too..." So thank u haha! The thing is, this isn't a private club, there are going to be all different types on here. We aren't all going to agree with each other on things... so let's ignore the posts we don't like and engage the ones we do... or something. XXX

    Anticipation = Overeating = Depressed

Thank you all SO much. I'm going to start with some Meal Replacement with shakes and practicing some of the lap band rules (slow eating etc). You guys give great advice and i appreciate it. I will check back to this page and re-read what you guys have said if i get off track again or to remind me ya'll are here. Tomorrow is another day. I'm so grateful for you all.
  17. Hi guys. I don't know what i would do without this forum. I am getting banded in just under a month. About a week or so away from the pre op liquid diet so i am in this kind of limbo stage. In the past couple months i have really let myself go. I have been eating junk food every day... i think i am "saying goodbye" to my old life, but i feel terrible, i don't feel good. I have gained about 30lbs in a couple months and i don't know what to do. I have things for work (public speaking) that i am SO NOT ready for. So i don't have the luxury to just wait it out... i CAN'T gain anymore weight! I tried curbing my eating to healthier eating so i would have an easier transition from 'normal person' eating to liquid diet then to band... but i am failing miserably. Any advice or words of encouragement? I am really disgusted in myself. My hubby is being very supportive but there isn't much he can do. I hate looking in the mirror, i hate the way i feel and look... I know 100% that i need this tool to no longer live with the self loathing and abuse i put myself through. I was thinking of starting the liquid diet earlier. Is 3 weeks too long to be on a liquid pre op diet? I just don't wanna gain any more weight and 'trying to be healthy' is not working cos i had to quit smoking for the surgery too, so i have no vices at all. Thanks guys
  18. People want to keep you down to feel better about themselves. I have 'friends' like that myself. The times in my life where i have successfully lost weight through dieting and started to look good they would say "we're worried about you... are you being healthy, losing all that weight?" Drives me CRAY CRAY. No one would say "we're worried about you with all that excess weight... are you being healthy?" I am 29 and getting banded on the 17th of Dec. I wish i would have made the decision 10 years ago. You have done a great thing for your child. The pro's of living a healthy life filled with opportunity and without being self conscious, FAR outweighs the backlash from catty friends. Best of luck to ya'll

    5 Days Till Surgery

What does a pre op liquid diet look like? I am seeing my doc on the 29th and will get all this info, but am trying to prepare by having the right stuff in the house. Protein shakes? Water? anything else? Can you have coffee? Thanks all

    First Weigh In! :)

Wow that's awesome! Maybe your age does have a factor in it. I am 29, I hope I have similar results hah! I had a conversation on here with a girl who was 35 and was losing at a fast rate. She had a similar bmi to me (under 35) and said she was following doctors diet and instructions very closely. That's where my money is! I start pre op diet in a week and am very nervous about the only liquids, but I am going to follow instructions cos it seems like the people who are having the most success are doing as they are told. Your results are inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

    First Weigh In! :)

So great! Are you following a stringent post op diet? Are you eating more or less than 1200 calories? Just curious!
  22. I have had a tummy tuck also, my surgeon said there will be no problem whatsoever. I have a tight tummy also (now), but i know i will lose some of that taughtness after losing the 70lbs i need to lose. I worry about the port site. I wonder if it will be a thing to 'deal' with? When we all get skinny we are gonna wanna wear tight jeans right? Anyone had an issue with pants and port site?

    Help!!!

My surgery is Dec 17th - I am told i have to do a 2 week pre op liquid diet too... I have also tried to prepare by adjusting my eating habits and making healthier choices. Some days i do ok, but some days i fail miserably... like last night... which really gets me down cos i know i'm just making harder on myself. From what i hear these first few months are the hardest part. Hope we all do ok.
