Band to Sleeve Revision...I hope
lizmo8175 replied to Tracyde730's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm having the revision surgery cuz I've had nothing but complications with my band i have it for about 4 years I never could find my sweet spot is either over filled under-filled I just thought I would go about my business and deal with it! sometimes I can eat and sometimes I cant eat most the time I am vomiting because my food gets stuck I finally made an appointment with a new bariatric surgeon and found out that it slipped and is at the top of my stomach and bottom of my esophagus which means I don't have a pouch anymore so when I am able to eat without any problems I totally over it because I never know when I'm going to be able to eat again which sucks!!!!also I have a hiatal hernia I gained all my weight back plus a couple pounds and I also have slowly and gradually been getting heartburn more frequently I believe that is due to the hernia I was just approved by my insurance and hopefully get a call today to get my surgery date.. for the revision. I wish I would have went in a couple of years ago and caught it in time but I didnt there is no way that I would want to be re banded just to go through all of this again I want the damn thing out and I want a permanent change it is definitely scary though but in the end I'm sure it'll be well worth it!!! In facts my surgeon and a lot of Surgeons are not doing the Lap Band anymore because of the complication rates I'm happy for the people that have not had any problems or complications:) Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
That could have been a therapy or something they use for that person I'm not sure.... Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

That's good I'm glad they are going to double double check, my friend was opposite she never has had weight loss surgery but after she had her last daughter she could not lose weight and the doctor told her she needed to quit eating and so she got a second opinion and maybe even a third and found out that her thyroid was not functioning at all she finally got on the right medication and now is at a healthy weight and feels normal again... I am so sorry that this is happening to you!!! Have not had anything like this happen because I did not have the bypass but I hope somebody may have some insight that will help this might be far-fetched and I'm sure you've already had these tests run but I'm just wondering if they check your thyroid maybe something changed after surgery and it was overlooked... I will keep you in my prayers! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I do think the sleeve is a much much better choice than the Lap-Band some people have great success with it but unfortunately it was not one of them, I'm looking forward to having the revision done so you'll have to let me know how you are doing! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Dr. L did my lap band 4 years ago I wish I would have looked into other options because I was scheduled to do the sleeve but then they told me my insurance was not covering the surgery about 2 months into the process therefore my options were limited and I had to cash pay so I did the Lap-Band it has now slipped and caused major complications! I am going to Blossom Bariatric and having a revision to sleeve l. I liked Dr. L I just think I had other options to pick from but was vulnerable and desperate for anything kind of my fault I guess ..lap band was 9 grand and I was able to make payments with no interest and the sleeve was 17,000 cash no payments. Blossom is 12,500. Everyone has a different story they weren't to bad at oband center just felt alittle cheated. I wish you the best of luck and I am sure you will be in great hands! She has returned my calls but it does take awhile and I am antsy and excited to get it done and over with as well LOL!!!! I think we will be in good hands and I have done a lot of research on Dr. Tom and I'm pretty satisfied with blossom bariatric, the scoop was better at blossom than was at the last place I went. However, I understand the concern of wanting to be in the best of hands!!!!! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I had never heard of them either prior to my new doc office. My Wellness coordinator said they are amazing she actually had the sleeve and has had the Vitamin shots and the Biotin shot she says they work great so I'm thinking heck it's worth a try!!! I was told if the doctor prescribes them to you then the insurance should cover them if not they're about $200 per shot that's at my doctor's office. I'll take a picture and post it so you can read about it. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -

Hi, Try talking with your surgeon about Biotin injections. I am getting prepared for the sleeve revision surgery and I am concerned about hair loss, but the office offers couple different types of Vitamin injections you can due weekly or monthly etc depending on what the doc recommends;) Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
In theory, I'm getting a band in a month
lizmo8175 replied to rayh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 4 years ago and I am having a revision surgery to the sleeve same here yo yoed, but I have had nothing but complications with it I was never able to find my sweet spot it was either to tight or loose. I also vomit alot because many of the food that I eat get stuck also the I have a hernia and my band has slipped;( looking forward to getting the sleeve. Also, just because o had problems doesn't mean you will;) Just do as much research as possible!! I bought small cups, plated, forks and spoons etc made sure to stock up on Protein products such as drinks and powders a food processor or Ninja is good to have around as well also a food scale and measuring cups I always made it habit to carry a bottle of Water everywhere I went..... Good luck! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -

Try Isopure drinks they are the same consistency as Water not thick like a Protein shake... the taste is kind of an acquired taste, but that might help you guys get your protein. oh, ya you can get them at GNC. Hi I think we talked on another form...I'm getting sleeved by Dr.Tom they are super busy all the time Jennifer White is my Wellness coordinator however I am going there because my friend was sleeved by dr. Tom two years ago and she absolutely loves them I was banded by the o band Center 4 years ago and didn't want to go back there. I am pretty happy with blossom so far. I just had the scope and I go in Monday for my results even though I already know what's going on and then hopefully I can get clearance from PCP and get a surgery date real soon can't wait to get this band out!!!!
