I began this journey in March of 2012. I went to a seminar and started calling my insurance company to find out what requirements there were. I was told I had to have a psych eval, a nutrionist eval, and proof of a documented 6 month diet. I had been doing weight watchers for almost 2 years and I asked my insurance company if WW would suffice and was told yes. I was excited this was going to be a breeze! I went for my psych eval and nutrionist eval at the end of March and my paperwork was going to be submitted as soon as my reports from the psych eval came in. On Tuesday of the following week the nurse called me and said the insurance company was arguing that the diet had to be a dr supervised diet. I was pissed because I was told different. I called the insurance company and was told the same thing that it had to be a dr supervised diet. To say I was heart broken would be an understatement. I was angry and just gave up for a while. Once I got over my hissy fit I decided that 6 months would come and go whether I was doing a dr supervised diet or not, I knew this is what I needed and had to do whatever I had to do to make it happen. I began my dr supervised diet on June 28th. My weight was up and down the entire 6 months and I was irritated. Nov 29 was my last dr appointment (this is also my Deceased grandmothers birthday and I saw that as a sign that it was meant to be). My paperwork was submitted on 12/5/13 and I called every other day bugging the insurance company. I got my approval on 12/12/12!..Another sign! With Christmas coming up I knew it would be Jan. before I got an initial dr appointment. I was nervous because for insurance I had to have surgery scheduled before March 27th 2013 because my evals were only good for a year. My dr appointment was scheduled for Jan 16th (my deceased grandfather's birthday another sign!). I weighed 417 the day of my doctor appointment. He informed me I would have to have an Upper GI done and some bloodwork which just worried me more because it was way too close for anything to happen to delay my surgery. The nurse came in and said "What about Feb 14th?" I looked at my mom and was like for the Upper GI? and the nurse said no..for surgery and I was like YES!!! So anyway..I had my upper GI on 2/7 and got to the hospital at 7 am for surgery on Valentine's day. My surgery went great and I had no complications. I was released at 2 that afternoon and had no nausea and took very little pain meds..i wasnt really in pain just uncomfortable. I walked walked and walked and sipped sipped and sipped...I feel like I will be successful and make this band my b*tch
