Need info on unfill and pouch dilation
Scorpio Girl replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Normally. An unfill doesn't require any restriction of food or lifting. If you're still uncomfortable, call your doctor...and keep us posted -

Having A Hard Time Swallowing...
Scorpio Girl replied to hopetolose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was taking Allegra and cutting it in half. My doc had me switch to Zyrtec since it is tiny and doesn't have the hard edges the Allegra has when it's cut. She thought that might be causing irritation even scratching my stomach as it would get stuck often. -

Anyone Have Fluid Around Your Band
Scorpio Girl replied to georgeileen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you have an infection. When was your surgery? -

Couple of things: do you know which days of the week your doctor does surgery? Most are on a pretty inflexible schedule, days in office, vs surgery days. There's no guarantee you'll be able to have surgery on a Thursday. Is it an option to take time off without pay? When is your 6 month probationary period up...might be that you will be past that point by the time you're approved. If not, have your submission specify a time period that is past that date. I'm assuming you need your job to have insurance? I would not have been able to work for about 10 days or so, post op. I also had lifting limitations. Don't know if your job is physical or not. Good luck!

Go to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, boil it, skin and all, covered in water in a pasta pot ( built in strainer). Pull the chicken out, refrigerate chicken and broth separately overnight. The next day, pick the chicken off the bones, discard bones, skin and fat. Skim fat off cold broth. Cook your veggies in the broth, add the chicken, voila.... Yummiest chicken soup ever! The broyh may need to be diluted, since the roasted chicken is so flavorful.

Heartburn After Gallbladder Surgery With Lapband..helppp
Scorpio Girl replied to justkimberly89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is a beta blocker going to help heartburn? They are used to treat hypertension' date=' migraines and glaucoma. Perhaps you meant PPI , proton pump inhibitor? [url']http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/beta-blockers/HI00059[/url] -
My band doctor didn't allow shakes after the 3rd week. I do keep them on hand for post stuck episodes, travel, etc, but rarely use them. You should try substituting real food, you might be more satisfied and save a little $$$$

I think there's room in a normally slim persons life for indulgence, whether its going out to eat, shopping, bubble baths or something else. The whole point of having WLS is to get to a more normal lifestyle, without all the guilt we feel as obese people. Look around, not everybody eating in a restaurant is obese...I choose to participate in life fully. My friends and family eat out, not ALL restaurant food is crap and I always find a couple of healthy options. I choose restaurants I know will let my hubby and I split an entree, he eats 3/4, I eat my 3 oz protein + veggies and I'm done. At home, I cook for 8 of us, one meal, I just make sure the protein is band friendly and I have a veggie I can tolerate. As a former successful restaurant owner, 1986-1998, I introduced our community to healthy Italian cooking, through our menu, and cooking classes. I've always known how to cook healthy as an adult, I just needed portion control. My band has given me that. Go ahead and "indulge", just make sure you aren't going to trigger the behaviors that brought you to WLS...

Is Anyone Constantly Burping?
Scorpio Girl replied to LessToLove902's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like your diaphragm/vagus nerve is irritated. Could be you ate a bit too fast or too much? Did it start while you were eating or after you finished. If it started while you were still eating, that first burp would be a sign that you're done. I'm assuming you're eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and waiting between bites.... -
Heartburn/indigestion~Dysmotility Of The Esophagus
Scorpio Girl replied to yaya77nc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, many of us have experienced this as a result of being banded. You don't have to bee too tight to cause this. It seems to be a common occurrence after a couple of years. Go to the complication forum and post there, you'll find many that are experiencing this sort of issue. -
Night Time Restriction
Scorpio Girl replied to lauradevans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just take it easy at night...avoid pbs and getting stuck, have a "soft" dinner. You're too early out to be having food getting stuck. -
My band hasn't slipped...I have scar tissue under the band around my stomach, per the doctor. Hoping that I can find a way to keep it.

I'm really surprised your orthopedic doc did knee replacement at your BMI. I had WLS so I could meet the requirement of BMI<40 for knee replacement. Rather than walking, how about water exercise...join the Y and walk in the pool. Less wear and tear on those new knees. Follow dietary guidelines exactly. This is the key. I've lost 75 lb just following the eating plan...very little exercise. Once you begin to lose, you can add walking a little at a time. This isn't about "trying the life". This is about making permanent lifestyle changes, one step at a time. Best of luck!

Sorry To Have To Ask This Nut Just Curious If This May Have Happened To You
Scorpio Girl replied to Wgbem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fat stores estrogen, so when we lose fat, the estrogen is released. This can cause you to have changes in your cycles. Because you have started having periods again, you are probably ovulating and should take precautions (birth control) to be safe.
