Personally, I think that all points of view should be tolerated. How did we ever get out of the dark ages without someone standing up and voicing an unpopular opposing view? Many we're burned at the stake, stoned or even beheaded for going against the norm. 521 years ago, we still thought the earth was flat! 70 years ago people died from infections because we didn't have antibiotics! Treating our condition of obesity is one of the fastest evolving fields in medicine today. I'm all ears.

I've been away for a while, no Internet, but omg, girl, you are looking fine!!!

I've used it and its amazing to see documents that our ancestors signed. I paid $161 inc tax for 6 months. You can go month to month also. I documented my paternal granmother's lineage back to the 13th century!

I have days like that too. Almost like I traded one anomaly for another, but I just put one foot in front of the other and remind myself that size 8 is a whole lot better than size 24!

Help! Has anyone gone to mexico to have an infected port fixed?
Scorpio Girl replied to Devotedlillly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Elcee is correct. An infection at the port is generally suspected as originating at the band and can be a sign of erosion of your band. You need to consult with someone who can check you out. This is nothing to mess around with. -
I've had my band a couple of years, was unfilled a couple of months ago due to reflux, PBing, unable to eat band friendly foods. Lately, I'm PBing up foods I ate more than 8 hours earlier, waking with acid in my mouth, etc. I follow band rules and am satisfied for at least five hours after eating, whether it stays down or not. Right now I'm feeling stuck on two tiny pills (prescription) and can't eat breakfast till they're through. I have an appt next week with my GI doctor to figure out the next step. Any ideas?

Secondary Achalasia due to AGB (warning, complication post) :). The Why??
Scorpio Girl replied to Baba Wawa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This wasn't something I was warned about in my pre op evaluations. There were discussions about reflux, vomiting, etc, but always within the context of eating habits, things like chewing too little, eating too fast or too late. Being less than 3 years out, this is troubling to me. Thanks for the heads up! -
Is your port on the left? Could be tubing that is causing the pain. There have been a few reports of tubing wrapped around intestines causing severe pain.

Have to have revision...thinking about the sleeve....
Scorpio Girl replied to marfar7's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
An experienced revision surgeon will have the skill, knowledge and resources to help you make a decision about what to do. Implanting a band around a virgin stomach is much different than putting a new band on a damaged and surgically altered stomach. Best of luck to you! -
woman has lapband removed so she can eat...
Scorpio Girl replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in Rants & Raves
Never should have qualified for WLS. Complete waste of time, money and other resources. Epic fail. -
Your lack of sensation could be nerve damage from diabetes, stomach virus, surgery or even an unknown cause. Usually with nerve damage there are other symptoms, besides absence of sensation. Disorders like gastroparesis and other motility disorders cause pretty severe, quality of life altering symptoms and can be debilitating. In the absence of these symptoms, I wouldn't worry too much, but by all means talk to your doctor (band, PCP or gastroenterologist) if you are concerned or are having signs of dismotility. Hang in there!

Banding and Eating Disorder Question!
Scorpio Girl replied to moonlightdreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Binging, even without purging is dangerous with the band. Overeating, eating quickly, can lead to band slippage. Your options for WLS should include the duodenal switch. It is a malabsorptive surgery, meaning you don't absorb all the calories, preserves the pylorus and provides a larger stomach than RNY or sleeve. I know of many bingers who have had great success with DS surgery. If you decide on banding, please continue with therapy to address the eating disorder. Best of luck to you! -
If you're having night time reflux, you're in the red zone. Call your doctor ASAP. Let us know the outcome, please.
-
PPIs don't work immediately, so taking them has to be a regular thing, every day, every other day. Also, when discontinuing them you need to "ramp down" gradually or suffer rebound reflux.

So sorry to hear of your troubles! Hope your doctor can help.

This site is set up differently than the other two sites I've frequented. Good information to have.
