Next to no fluid and still cant eat???
Scorpio Girl replied to Treenz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard of some ppl having problems with their esophagus that sounded like this. Do you get stuck on liquids at all? Keep after your doctor to figure out what's wrong, cuz something's not right if you can't eat. Good luck! SG -
Pre-Op diet is too broad!
Scorpio Girl replied to PrettyThick1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My diet was protein and non starchy veg for 1 meal + 3 shakes for 2 wks. Lost 15 lb preop. -
My dr insists that I'm in the green zone, I'm skeptical
Scorpio Girl replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Terry is right. Satiety is what matters more than the types of food you can eat. Measuring, putting Protein 1st, logging, drinking Water are all important. Pay attention to when you are physically hungry. If you want something specific like chips or something sweet, that's head hunger. If you just need to eat and you don't care what it is...that's hunger, at least that's what my nut told me. For me that works to tell the diff. Your band doesn't know the diff between potatoes or lean protein but your BMI will. It's up 2 U 2 make the right choice. I don't eat bread, crackers other processed carb because its not a healthy choice not cuz my band stops me. -
I do keep a list of questions, worries to ask about at my dr visits. Being over 21/2 years out, I don't go as often. I'm very lucky. I hit the green zone with my 3rd fill and have stayed there. I go in for a check up once a year now. I guess my concern is what if someone comes on here, really hurting, and tries to vent do we give them support or what? I read a post that sorta made me think its not ok to post if you are suffering complications or unhappy with your weighth loss.

There's a saying, nothing tastes as good as thin feels and it's true! Great NSV!

That's a huge milestone! Congrats! -
I hope she's ok! Will add her to my prayer tree.

I think it's good to hear a variety of opinions about things that can go wrong. What about things like fibromyalgia and other types of auto immune disorders that some ppl think are triggered by silicone devices? This is the type of thing that scares me just a little bit. I'm so close to goal and would just freak out if anything went wrong with my tool!

No way is surgery the EZ way out!! Hang in there...you can do it!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! One rule you left out is using a tracking app for food. Log every bite. It also will show you your nutrients and you can track exercise too!

Why not get a little fill removed?

I would schedule an esophogram ASAP.

This is on my bucket list. I'm 1/4 Ute and want to see where my ancestors lived.

You may have slipped. You prolly should call your doctor. The band can hold a little more than its capacity, so you still have some adjustment room. I'm concerned that you say you are eating more. Don't eat more because you can. To prevent getting stuck and control your portions: Measure your food. 1/2 cup total, 75% dense Protein, 25% low glycemic veggies. Cut into m&m sized pieces. Chew each bite 15-25 times. Take 20-30 min to eat your meal. Stop when you get a soft stop sign, hiccup, runny nose, sigh or when your food is gone or at 30 min. If you get stuck, do liquids for 24-48 hours, progress to solids slowly. Learning dietary discipline is difficult, but necessary with a band.

New to this site and disappointed
Scorpio Girl replied to Dana newman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since the band was approved by the FDA in 2001, where did you have your band surgery? 20 years is a long time to have a band... -
Over eat = Shoulder pain...what the?
Scorpio Girl replied to WheelCrazy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tough lesson, but are you measuring your portions? At 2 weeks out, measuring everything is so important...most are just starting solid foods. The vagus nerve and phrenic nerve are both easily irritated by the surgery and can cause pain. Pay attention to your soft stops, runny nose, little cough, hiccup, etc. Best of luck on your band journey!! -
Going home but worried about port sticking out!
Scorpio Girl replied to makemeova36's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a friend whose port really became prominent as he lost. It's hard to tell how yours will be until swelling goes down. Mine is not visible at all, but I have a realize band. -
The unfortunate thing about WLS is that it doesn't fix the root cause of obesity. Overeating to the point of MO is usually driven by emotional or psychological issues. Our bands control the symptom of those issues (over eating), but not the cause. The reason you're still unhappy is that your body is fixed (more or less) but your hurt heart, soul and mind are not. I can relate. I've lost a lot of weight in the past, without getting counseling for my unresolved problems stemming from childhood abuse. I felt vulnerable and gained all the weight back, and more. Please look for a counselor who can help you understand what is troubling you and work through it. Hugs (((())))

You guys are going to be upset with me but lesson learned.
Scorpio Girl commented on LadyDiva618's blog entry in LadyDiva618's Blog
I'm sorry but going to a couple of parties and carrying things to help out shouldn't cause your incisions to break open and "leak" at almost 4 weeks out. This sounds like a low grade infection that's been there all along. Taking it easy wouldn't make a difference. There shouldn't be any leaking of anything, normally. Keep an eye on your temp, if it goes up, get medical attention, ok? Best of luck to you!
