European opinion
Scorpio Girl replied to vincereautmori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bands were developed, implanted and studied in Europe long before they were approved here. Europe isn't a backwards place, just different than here. I have lots of family there and the medical care in most countries is excellent. -
I hope your surgery goes well. This to me is the biggest inconvenience with the band, the aftercare. I've been very lucky. Best of luck to you!

It actually is possible: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/core/lw/2.0/html/tileshop_pmc/tileshop_pmc_inline.html?title=Click%20on%20image%20to%20zoom&p=PMC3&id=3516989_WIITM-7-18335-g006.jpg

Scorpio Girl replied to evobuilder's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr Ross McMahon is taking new patients from what I hear. Where was Dr Lauter? Also NWWLS does fills though they're in south Everett. -

Really??? -
Well, I'm pretty confident that the lifestyle changes I've made (diet, exercise, counseling) will carry over post band. I was fully aware that according to the mfg it's not a "lifetime device" and most likely will need removed or replaced, when I signed consent. Rather than have a removal/replacement surgery every 5-10 years, I'm committed to sticking to my plan of healthier eating and exercise. To suggest that all bansters who have their bands removed are doomed to fail isn't really fair, is it?

which lapband should i get! :-)

Or her...just sayin... -
Sorry Bayou Girl. I've seen that too. It's a shame that everyone's journey isn't considered valuable. The suspicion, calling ppl trolls, lack of trust out side the inner circle hear is really intimidating. I haven't had complications, but I know that I might. It doesn't scare me, it makes me more prepared just in case. Other medical implants fail, get replaced with newer or different implants or procedures, why is this one not allowed to be vulnerable to failure? That's why mine will come out when it's served it's purpose.

I have a 11cc Realize band. It's supposed to be lower pressure than AP and the port is flatter, doesn't show at all, even tho I've lost 119 lb. -

Dont laugh at me...
Scorpio Girl replied to solson8201's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on your climate. If its warm, a dress is ideal. Someone will help you dress, so bending over isn't a big issue. I'm in Seattle, so I wore loose sweats home and had no trouble. -
Please call your doctor.

New to this site and disappointed
Scorpio Girl replied to Dana newman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Look up Molina Band. It was before the adjustable gastric band, was mesh and has caused a lot of problems. I found Dana on Facebook and she's for real, was considering revising to a new band, which is why she was here. Me thinks the "troll antennae" are on hyper-vigilant setting...geesh! -
No point in getting on the scale
Scorpio Girl replied to adugan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 lb a month is great! X 12 months = 120 lb lost!!! The first 6 weeks are for healing, learn to use your band properly. Also getting used to the lifestyle change which should be permanent. This means following nutrition instructions to the letter. It also means logging everything that passes your lips. food exercise Water meds, don't matter, log it. Those who are losing more faster are either male or a lot higher BMI than you. It don't matter how fast they lose. It only matters how you lose. Comparing your progress to anyone else is asking for trouble. Good luck! -
Jackie, sorry your experience wasn't what you expected. I stay out of the threads where there is neg info given and the poster is called out as a troll...I just don't want any part of that stuff. If I had complications, I wouldn't feel okay posting it on this site. There is def a group of ppl who can't handle the possibility that they could be there someday. Live and let live. I know that the longer I have my band the more I risk complications. Once I reach goal, I'm going to gradually unfill and then prolly have it removed once I maintain for 6 months or so. It's a tool...it's going back in the box once I'm done using it. Better safe than sorry....

New pre-surgery and having a hard time with practice diet
Scorpio Girl replied to Robin618's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One foot in front of the other...you just do it. Think of how you'll feel with 50-80% of your excess weight gone. You'll move easier, be a participant in life, not an observer; your joints won't hurt so much. Head hunger is a big deal. Gotta keep that beast at bay. Have a plan, go for a walk, brush your teeth, etc to distract your mind. Good luck!!! -
Three days post op and needing advice
Scorpio Girl replied to juliecatherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The combination of anesthesia and pain meds are the most common cause of post op nausea. General anesthesia always makes me sick for about 24 hours. I had a minor procedure on Friday (unrelated to my band) with general anesthesia and was sick all day Friday and most of Saturday. Sleeping helps. I'm on all liquid meds right now and only taking the Rx liquid Tylenol for mild discomfort. Welcome to the losers bench! -
For some, very little or no fill is needed. Think of it like the brakes on your car. They're installed, might need adjusted, might not. Sometimes during the life of the brakes, they will need to adjust as they wear. As you lose fat around the stomach, you might need a little fill here and there, or you might not. Many bariatric surgeons are getting away from "primer fills" that were so common several years ago. Focus on healing and nutrients right now...good luck!

Weight Gain Due to Unfill & Gaining for the First Time!!
Scorpio Girl replied to Liveforit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try eating very low carb for about a week...that will jump start you. South Beach is a good plan. I had a small unfill when I had mild pouch dilation last year, was told to eat South Beach, low carb, I did and continued to lose. I never got the .5 cc put back in...still losing! -

Insurance Approvals for Band Removal Without Revision?
Scorpio Girl replied to abraxasbear's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
From what I hear its not difficult to get approval as long as it is "medically necessary". A good friend of mine had hers removed last week cuz she had problems eating anything at all. It was approved immediately.
