I'm lucky enough to live 25 minutes from my hospital but their general instructions (for those am hour or more away) is to stop each hour and walk. The fear is that you risk blood clotting and embolisms if you do not. Good luck at your surgery!!

Guys, thanks for all of the great responses--I had previously told my wife that I couldn't eat anything like this but wow--what a great alternative to rice! Thanks!

Is it not something you get stuck on easily?

Nice!! I always get a chuckle out of 90s videos . That band was just a step above Weird Al--no parodies but close enough. Thanks tmf for the assist

Man I was reading this thread hoping it was about the song "Lump" by The Presidents of the United States of America. Great song. And oh yeah, nothing thus far has been rude in this thread but the post about tmf being rude. rubber:glue

Self-chiropractic care post-banding
forensic6 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pop or crack my back a few times daily. Since I work from behind a desk most days, I get some pretty loud and productive pops sometimes. I was just wondering today--how much will I be able to twist my back after I am banded? My guess would be that the motion might need to be limited until my incisions heal. Has anyone who is banded gone through any period where you couldn't (was advised against) pop your back? -
What I can't stand is when people--a DOCTOR yesterday--look at me and tell me how there is no way I need surgery. Okay I have a muscular frame but I also have a BMI over 40 and have high blood pressure and heart palpitations. I have over 100 lbs to lose and no one seems to get it. Luckily for me (evil laugh) their opinions are like a*******, everybody's got one

I hate to ask because I'll bet someone rips me for this but...why not gain the extra weight if that is the ONLY reason why you're being denied? Shouldn't take many lbs to get over that hump. Just sayin'. -

Unjury makes a band-formulated chewable multivitamin. I have a bottle on order but honestly feel like I'm flying blind with the vitamins. I agree with the precious statements about Bariatric Advantage calcium chewables. Chocolate is also very good.

I have a friend who had gastric bypass and lost over 150 pounds--she looks amazing and is inspiring to me. She was visiting my office a couple of weeks ago and she said that for her it was all about mindset--she said she had to "break up with" food. The more I roll that idea around my head it makes sense. To a greater extend, it does seen more like a "breakup with kids" as you and food still have to learn to live with each other Good luck to everyone--pretty sure everyone here is just trying to be supportive to everyone else. If you feel any judgement is it likely your own insecurity and that is perfectly okay. We are all vulnerable in one way or another or we wouldn't be here, right? -
April 17th if insurance goes through. My doc is getting excellence certified and Allergan is sending reps to oversee the surgery. I think like 5 of us are getting banded that day. I advised I wanted to go LAST (lol). I figured if he learns anything during the first 4 he can use that with me

Fitbit all the way. It has a much more compact design and will do everything but monitor your heart (sleep, stairs, calories, steps). Also it syncs with Myfitnesspal and adjusts your available calories for the day based on your activities. Also I highly recommend the Fitbit Aria scale which is WiFi also syncs with MFP.

This is actually an area I'm a little worried about. It's the reason I steered clear of some of the weight loss drugs. In the past when I used ephedrine based diet pills I would get grouchy and snap easily at people. I was not the most fun to be around. I discovered that for me St. John's Wort did the trick and I was able to balance out the moodiness with an herbal antidepressant. Of course, that was ephedrine. Does anyone use anything (legal) to balance out the irritability? What has been said so far makes sense--I completely agree that food is my crutch. But I work in an area where I may not have the support and understanding if I come across too much like a jerk even if temporarily.

And I will assume (yes, I've made an *$$ out of you and me) that you somehow have lost a sense of humor along the way somewhere. I pity someone who can't laugh at a situation because they are too busy falsely inflating their own ego by putting on their toy badge that says "sheriff" and then trying to police this forum. If you do not like what someone has said (let's take my silly posts for example) you can BLOCK that person. Lets go ahead and try that process now. But guess what? I do not think you will block me. Why would you do something that could limit your ability to flex that "long arm of the law"?

$3.00. I get exactly $3.00 and not a penny more.

Lannah, ummm, pretty sure she was referring to you about having thicker skin. Please refrain from having the cheese with your whine.
