In the last 3 weeks I have been religiously working out on my Bowflex and feel as if I have toned quite a bit. The downside is that muscle weighs more than fat and I cannot seem to make my scale move right now. I've lost 45 lbs since beginning this journey but only 20 of that since my surgery on 4/17 this year. I'm eating right but also having a glass of wine each night (this was okayed by my doc and nutritionist). The good news is my clothes are fitting better (I'm down a couple of sizes) so that is an NSV I suppose. Has anyone else experienced this? I see my surgeon tonight and wonder what he might suggest.

stomach flu with band
forensic6 replied to JenWis6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor can prescribe sublingual Zofran or its equivalent that will keep you from vomiting. I was exposed to someone with the flu at work and just because of that I was able to get a prescription. Now I just keep 4 tabs on me at all times in case I ever get sick. -
I've also heard something carbonated could dislodge it. Good luck--I've never been stuck that long but the times I have been were awful. I've found hotdogs are off the table for me for this reason

I just got over a cold and Nyquil/DayQuil Cold & Flu worked great. A doctor gave me the green light and it has no NSAIDS as it uses Acetaminophen.

I've had a similar problem. I was okay and could drink at the doc's office after a fill but that night my band tightened and I had horrible acid reflux. The next day I had half of the recent fill removed. That felt discouraging but taught me a valuable lesson about the band which is that your body really does adjust to your fills. I'm now 2 cc's beyond that point and I am nearing my own green zone. You are likely 1/2 cc too tight right now and should let your doctor know so they can adjust you. You need to be able to eat solids or you'll flatline your weight loss. Good luck to you!

I went out to eat with colleagues and ordered something I had eaten a few weeks prior but this time I'd just gotten a fill and it was BRUTAL. I had to excuse myself 4 times to go to the bathroom. I can see why the bulimia interventions could happen. Lol

Just got to drop my blood pressure meds today! I'm prescription free! Lapband kicks ass!!!

My story--banded for 9.5 years.

I told my boss and her boss plus one co-worker but no one else. I'm 4 months out from surgery so people are really noticing as I'm shrinking. People are nice and make kind comments about me losing but I just say I'm dieting and exercising (true).

I really didn't tell many people honestly. As far as guys, I told one fishing buddy at work and my best friend. Both seem interested that I've lost and are supportive as far as I can tell them what I'm going through. Instead of beer I drink bourbon now and I drink it straight--not many drinks more manly than that. I think they're impressed I can lose and still hold my own

6 months post-op: PROGRESS PICS
forensic6 replied to KeeSh32's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! Look at how much you've lost!! I'm only 3 months out and can't wait to see where I'm at in 1 year. Keep it up! -
Well, not actual BMI but a body fat percentage. It does that by sending an electric signal through your body and the speed of transfer helps calculate the percentage.

He ended up removing 1cc and I felt 100% better right away. I've been able to get down almost 2 isopure drinks so I'm good on protein apparently. I'm pretty hungry though!
-
I had my first fill yesterday (2 cc) and I'm feeling pretty rough. I was able to drink Water yesterday, after the fill, but I drink a little Isopure last night and woke up 5-6 times after aspirating it hours later. Now I'm sitting at the hospital waiting for an unfill. I have a question for anyone who's had a similar experience: can you gauge how much you need removed as saline is withdrawn based upon the ability for liquids sitting on top of the band to begin passing through? My doctor was hesitant to give the fill yesterday because of how well my loss had been since surgery April 17 (15 lbs but all within the first 3 weeks). Now I'm worried he might take out too much.

I was banded 4/17 and had some initial nausea and asked my surgeon for something and he prescribed generic Zofran. I hadn't needed it again until I got my first stuck episode. I was driving 75 mph on the interstate and couldn't pull over. I popped one and all was well. I have had another stuck episode since but I PB'd appropriately and it all worked out. Give this all a chance. Part of the hell in dieting is waiting for results. This is a fairly rapid process, but there is still an element of waiting and patience involved. Mastering those things will serve your long-term loss well. Best of luck to you--hang in there!!

I was stuck on scrambled eggs this am (I've been generally okay with eggs since the surgery). This was my first stuck episode. It was so bad that as I was driving 75mph on the interstate I popped a Zofran to keep from vomiting. That was about 3 hours ago. I slimed for about 1 hour and felt something coming up but then, nothing. I don't have any BP symptoms any longer. Should I feel safe to assume it broke apart and went through after all and that I'm good now?

Dangit!! I hate when people put it wrong and here I go and do it. PB *not* BP!!!

Hi Jennifer! Great loss so far--is that all since the beginning of your journey or in the last 5 days? Lol. Are you feeling alright since your surgery?

Looking for a specific protein shake please help

Pretty sure the pain is from all of the air. See if it makes a difference to stir with a spoon rather than use a blender. Not sure about why it isn't staying too cold. -

Are you blending the shakes with ice to the point where they are frothy on top? That got me. You can try to let your shake sit for a while before drinking it because it has lots of air mixed in.
