My journey was put on hold.  I started in 2012 with trying to have the lap band performed.  An Upper GI Scope found severe irritation of the esophagus from years of reflux and a hiatal hernia that was causing the reflux.  With these findings I had to put the weight loss surgery on hold and address the Barrett's Esophagus.  I went through 3 different doctors and 4 scopes before getting it accurately diagnosed on the dysplasia biopsies (pre-cancerous cells) and treated.  My last scope showed everything looking good.  I am waiting to hear from my new specialist to set up an appointment to get my follow-up done and talk to my new bariatric surgeon about possibly doing the sleeve and hernia repair.
